The husband and wife team who run this place were extremely friendly and welcoming; despite their limited English proficiency, we really enjoyed our interactions with them (and their English is still better than my Turkish). We returned late one evening and the wife gave us the best Turkish pancake that we'd had the entire trip (not sure the proper name for this food), warm, with melted cheese inside. Amazing.
Showers are open in the bathroom (no separate shower pan or closet) with just a handle and a drain the bathroom, which at least for me is not uncommon in budget accommodations. If you're on the street side, there can be a bit of noise from the street (as with any Kaleici lodging).
They're in the very back of the Kaleici district with a nice view of the Harbor. You can either lug your luggage through old town from the tram, or take a cab from your point of entry. Fun watching ours navigate the narrow streets and pedestrians.
The view from the terrace was fantastic and the lodging overall was a really good deal. read more
