THIS IS THE WORST HOTEL EVER. I booked a night for my 91-year-old mother. As is turned out she could not stay there because of the French railroad strike on the day she was going to be there-- she could not get to Paris for that night. The Hotel Montalembert REFUSED to refund her money despite us giving them over two weeks notice. The also refused to switch her toi a different night, even after we offered to accept a lower quality room for the same price she paid for a better room. The management are incredibly greedy, unethical people. WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. read more

Very nice hotel. They always take your bags up to your room when you check in. I know that Paris is known for small elevators, but the two elevators in the lobby were like nothing I have ever seen. The sign says they have a 3 person maximum--no way! I would feel uncomfortable being in the elevator with another person I didn't know we'll. Fortunately, that never happened. The hotel is located in a beautiful part of Paris with many nice shops and bistros. read more

This is one of my absolute favorite spots in the whole world. This lovely boutique hotel shows the very best of Parisian hospitality. This is my third time staying here and it is a treasure. Several of the higher floor rooms have views of the Eiffel Tower. The lobby is warm and cozy. The staff work hard to make you feel welcome - I was greeted back by Kelsey and Martin and treated like family! I made a new friend in Ingrid. The marble accents in the bathroom and the bedding are top notch! If you want a true delight on the left bank with easy access to the Louvre and to fantastic Left Bank restaurants, please stop here. The rooms = great The service = exceptional The concierge = able to secure restaurant and tour reservations with ease (including VIP Louvre tours!) My husband and I just returned on a two-night stay at the hotel (was suppose to be three but only two due to flight delays). I was so glad that we chose to stay in this hotel during a portion of our stay in Paris. Location: Perfectly situated near everything; Only one block from a metro station, 2 minute walk to the Siene, and in a quiet neighborhood (7th district). It is also very close to Musee D'Orsay (prob a 5 min walk). Room: We stayed in room 73 on the top floor. The hotel informed us that it was recently renovated. We had a large bed and two bathrooms (separate bathroom for toilet and shower). The room had a window that opened to a view of the street and the Eiffel Tower. It was absolutely perfect. Two floors down from us, they were renovating rooms there but we didn't even notice because we were out and about most of the time. Service: Customer service at the hotel was top notch. The staff knew our names immediately upon check-in. They made excellent restaurant recommendations and made reservations for us (even after we already checked out). We felt taken care of and the service was what you would expect from a five star hotel yet personal like staying at a bed and breakfast. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again. I was honestly worried about staying here due to the tripadvisor rating but I'm glad I found such a gem! Don't forget to get a cocktail at the lobby and ask for extra olives! If I were to say one negative thing, it was that they weren't able to offer us a refund for our first missed night. I spent two nights at the Montalembert with a bunch of friends and we all really enjoyed the hotel. First off, location...it's well situated a few blocks from the Seine and the Musee Orsay -- probably ten minutes over to the Louvre plaza. The neighborhood itself has a ton of great shops, cafes and galleries. And it's just a quick 10 minute jaunt to St. Germain. Rooms...perfectly adequate. You're not going to be blown away by the room and they're a little small, but the bathroom was really nice, with nice soaps, etc. Lobby...we had a blast hanging in the lobby and out front in their outdoor cafe -- the bar serves some great cocktails. Value...great bang for the buck. Think my room was 220 euro and I think it was money well spent...definitely recommend for a weekend in Paris. read more

My family and I have had the pleasure to stay at Hotel Montalembert on two trips to France, and beyond. It was originally recommended to me by a co-worker who travels worldwide. We took his advice, prior to making all of our travel arrangements (we know of so many other boutique hotels in the City....we're glad we took his advice!) A nice thing about this property is it's convenient left bank (walking distance) proximity to the major museums, the verve of Saint Germain, convenient subway stations in order to get to any other parts of the City - and (5 stars) we had a lovely peek/view of the Eiffel Tower from our loft/room (the highest floor in the hotel). We paid considerably for our stay - but we enjoyed every minute when within the property and not out sightseeing. Our particular loft/suite included a very large marble bathroom with windows that opened onto a small church square below us. It charmed us, indeed, the during daylight hours the church bell would chime on the hour. We did continental breakfast each morning in the lobby restaurant or on the street-patio (it was included in our room rate). We also enjoyed evening cocktails in the bar/library area just off the lobby. Hotel Montalembert is 'intimite', personably (our concierge arranged most evening meal reservations (always a nice touch), massages in-room, and even suggested our first day include a city/bus tour for two hours which 'planted' thoughts as to what to do each day. Again, we will return. If you are traveling with your wife/companion/childen - you will hopefully have the same gracious attention, you hopefully will enjoy your room(s) (FYI - they are ample in size for two or four persons). Hotel Montalembert is a classic/modestly chic property on a relatively quite street located between the museums and Saint Germain. read more

We stayed here the last week of June 2019. From the moment we arrived the staff were exceptional. A warm greeting and a cold drink after a long trip from Texas was much appreciated. We were informed that our reservation had been upgraded. Another wonderful surprise. The staff was fabulous, the accommodations were excellent and the location of the hotel was perfect for walking to the places we wanted to visit. The concierge staff were helpful with recommendations on where to eat or finding the right bakery to find what we were looking for. If you choose to stay here you will not be disappointed. read more

I booked this hotel through my Amex thinking they would show a little more love. 30 days prior to my trip I had to cancel... hotel refused to refund the cost of the stay... or even partially. Not sure what to say to that? Stingy? Poor customer service? I'll be curious to know why Amex does business w hotels that leave their customers high and dry?! read more

Best hotel we have ever stayed in. From a front desk that works tirelessly to make your stay enjoyable to small rooms completely renovated with nice bathrooms this hotel is outstanding. They made arrangements for reservations at tours of The Eiffel Tower and louvre before we arrived, offered complimentary umbrellas on a rainy day and provided outstanding service each morning at breakfast. I have been going back to the Hotel Montalembert for years, and it is probably one of the original boutique hotels. Stylish yet comfortable, a bit artsy without being overwhelming, a bit trendy without be off putting. Rooms can be a bit on the smallish side but that should be expected for a European city hotel. But you can't beat the location which is stone's throw from Blvd St. Germain and a short walk to the famous cafes of Flore and Deux Magots. What is unreliable is the service. For the most part it is helpful, professional, and the concierge staff usually friendly. That is until recently. I highly recommended the hotel to a friend who checked in on a hot summer day to find the shower not working properly. They claimed nothing could be done until the next day to fix it and no other room was available to change her too. It wasn't so much what was done but how, and the concierge on duty seemed annoyed to be put out. That report was followed a few days later by my own unfortunate episode with the concierge desk (and we believe it is the same person). A reserved taxi for me did not show (another problem with this hotel as this happened 3 times in my recent stays). The doorman went to try and flag one down on the street as the cab was 10 minutes late and threatening to be another 10 more minutes until arrival. The concierge canceled the cab without letting us know or without being asked to do it. When she realized her mistake instead of apologizing she gave me MAJOR attitude and started to blame me for having the doorman get another cab (which as I pointed out to her I did NOT do, he did this on his on accord, I am sure in his attempt to be helpful -which was more then she was doing). She actually scolded me! and was SO rude, it nearly ruined my whole night! My main problem with this whole situation was the way I was treated and spoken to, followed by the total lack of help, or even an apology on behalf of the concierge. This is an expensive hotel, I expect professional and courteous service. I can honestly say I am not a demanding or high maintenance client, I ask for the minimum in service. Now because of this incident, I will have to rethink going back. There are newer and nicer boutique hotels now and I rather go to one that treats female travelers with more respect. read more

Well I of course wanted to love this hotel and there were many nice things about it. I was greeted nicely and the front desk staff were nothing but accommodating and nice. However, I had booked months in advance and asked for a balcony, and while I know they could not guarantee it, I got a room with not only no balcony but an ugly view which made me not even want my window open, a small corner room (at least I believe it was smaller than others - I could be wrong on this) and the walls were very scuffed up and I understand the hotel is scheduled for renovation in the winter. In spite of all this, the management said there were no other rooms unless I wanted to upgrade for 100 euros per night more. I was so disappointed that they would not somehow try to compensate or come up with a satisfactory arrangement for both of us. They know the rooms are in poor condition (hence the scheduled renovation), so why not upgrade for free and keep their guests happy?? It is decorated very nice, the lobby and restaurant are very nice, room service was very good and it is in a great location. I had just come from another hotel in the Marais and by comparison the Monalembert did poorly. By just changing how they do things a little bit, this hotel could be a total class act. I hope they pay attention to the reviews. read more

UGH- They have gone way down hill since the reviews posted in 2010-2013. Just stayed there June 2015 after being forced to stay by management because we didn't have the ability to pay for two hotels. We showed up and checked in and when we saw the horrible room with musty smell and mold on baseboards. Two twins beds pushed together disguised as a queen bed. A room that was sold to us as a suite that was barely 200 sq ft for a family of four. We called down and said we would only be staying one night. Figured we had to at least pay for one night and stay while making other arrangements. The manager said she would charge us for all nights regardless of whether we stayed or not. Came to find out on trip advisor that there was another couple that argued with them for an hour until they agreed not to charge them so they could leave and stay elsewhere. Poor way to do business. The room pictures depicted on the many sites is very misleading. My daughter was in tears when the dilapidated old one person elevator stopped on the floor and she couldn't get out because the push door jammed. Just an awful experience. The biggest bummer was we had to make the best of it because we felt like we had to stay due to being charged. We just couldn't afford to pay for two hotels and this was our first trip to Paris which took some of the excitement out of the stay and trip. Would never recommend. There are far too many nice places out there. Location was decent. Across from a grocery store and around corner from some cute shopping area. Find another place to stay. read more
