So after 2 days of driving from Scotland to Switzerland we arrived at our prebooked hotel around midnight. As we went to check-in we were told by the clerk at the Best Western that although our research said they accepted pets that they didn't.
Of course! Exhausted from our trip it really bummed us out thinking "How are we gonna find a pet friendly hotel at this time of night with no internet connection?" Thankfully, the clerk was kind enough to call a nearby hotel to ask if they were pet friendly. Being late and exhausted from the trip we just went to the said hotel... the "Hotel des Alpes".
The clerk at the reception was very friendly and absolutely loved our dogs. We were tired and desperate but we paid the rack rate which was quite expensive. Once we got in our room, we found a cheaper price for the hotel and asked to be given that price for the second night instead of the expensive rack rate we paid for the first. We also asked about information such as nearby vets, local dishes, where to go, etc. He was very kind and said he would do some research and have the information for the vets available for us on the next day. The room was ok and clean but the bed was extremely uncomfortable, it was also very hot and noisy outside which meant we had to choose between cooling the room and dealing with noise or being over heated in a semi-quiet room.
The next day, the lady clerk (we believe was the manager) was also very nice. She called the vets from the list the other clerk gave her and organised an appointment for us. She also booked us a restaurant , gave us passes to use for the public transport and a discount on the car park. This hotel is really pet friendly, everyone we meet working there were very nice and seem to love our dogs.
Unfortunately, the lack of sleep for 2 nights from an uncomfortable bed, the noise and heat makes us give a lower rating for this hotel. read more
