I love a charming, boutique hotel. This had a cute elevator, but not much else!
The Room:
* Very small for 3 people, however I have stayed in smaller hotel rooms so I really didn't mind because I don't spend my whole trip in there.
* There is only one small mirror in the room and lights are located in very peculiar areas which don't even make any sense. And there are only two outlets in the whole room! Which is not fun if you have to charge your phone, if you want to use a blow dryer and there are 2 other people waiting. If people are traveling as a family or a larger group, they have a family room which consists of 2 bathrooms and individual rooms located in one suite. That one is quite expansive.
* My room had doors to a very small balcony.
Bathroom:
* An acceptable size, but the shower would only trickle water down so that was quite annoying. I like hard pressure in the shower. :D
Hotel Cesar has a computer right in the lobby where you pay per use, but the man let me use it for free. The internet was extremely slow and not worth it (if you are paying). The man who usually works at the reception desk at night does not speak any English, only French. I asked him if he had an iron, and he said no so you have to bring your own or do without one. The breakfast room is right off the lobby and it was standard, nothing amazing.
There isn't really much to do in Nimes. The arena of Nimes, which is amazing, is really the only thing that I think is worth seeing and the Pont du Gard which is a little while away. The hotel is pretty close to the city centre of Nimes, where the shops, cafes and churches are located and maximum 10 minutes away from the amphitheatre. There is also a pay phone in front of the hotel by the bus stops.
I wouldn't make Nimes a destination per se, but it is a cute town to explore if you want to make a stop whilst taking the train (the train station is right beside the hotel).
If you don't mind the basic, small rooms and the unique neighbourhood, this is the hotel for you. read more
