There was no welcome or we're glad to have you here type of greeting, I was just told to stand in a certain place to have my temperature taken by this mindless automaton and then corralled like a horse into a back room. I decided to dare to "roam the halls" as it was put while waiting, and was castigated. You would think looking in other workspaces at a school would be encouraged to cross-market. What followed was a convoluted rant on C19 and CDC issues that was more bullying and self-aggrandizement than good customer service or public relations. Roaming around put me further from people, not closer, so this was merely a power move. I arrived early and had a chance to interact with some current students and I saw none of them cheerful and some seemed unhappy or even mildly scared. Very unusual. Here fear and subordination supercede education. Students, if someone is not professional and kind to you, run away. Never let anyone weaponize their own personality to make you feel bad. There are other schools and the student calls the shots because its their money. One more thing. As I walked out, the staffer at the window was not wearing a mask, and I was, so please spare the hypocrisy.

These people are crooked and they just want your money. I'm currently stuck in this hostile, unhealthy, unhelpful school environment because I have to pay them 20,000 either way. I'm stuck. I…read moreattend the dental assistant program and has been the best decision the teachers are wonderful and will be there for anything you need. When it comes to them taking the time out of there day for one-on-one attention to help you better understand they are there for it all! The school on the other hand isn't. I was charged $300 on my FASFA for a laptop I didn't need I already had one. Since October of 2021 I have told them about it and nobody has help since. I told the president of the school and even the accreditation Board. The woman from the accreditation board made it seem like it wasn't a big deal and she would help but didn't care at all. As a student I haven't felt heard and felt like I wasn't taking seriously. Not only have I had problems with the school but more student in the program with me have. The staff changes so much because I everyone is always quitting. As I first started I was 3 months pregnant. As my due date became closer I was always asking how my classes where going to be effect with me being out 4 weeks. My director was always saying oh don't worry we'll handle it when the time is closer. When I had one month left, I was told if I take 4 weeks off for maternity leave my classes would be put on hold and I wouldn't graduate in September. I was back at school a week later after giving birth so keep that in mind before attending.

Missing links, dead ends, poor flow. Searching for classes is complicated and just plain tiring to deal with. Going in for help is even worst. You get different answers from different people and all seem to be incorrect anyways. Everything is just so complicated, I can see why students are giving up and looking elsewhere. My frustration level is at an all time high with just trying to get my kid classes at TCC. Do better TCC!

Usually you either have to end up teaching yourself and just using google to get the answers you need. The campus in and of itself is neat, they have some cool programs to help out students in need of certain things, like if you need a computer, they give out free laptops and stuff, the student center is pretty nice too. What I don't like about that is that if you're not currently taking classes, you can't go inside the building, like, what??? We paid all this money to go here, at least let us use the facilities for a year or two after finishing our degrees.

They want compliant warm bodies who look the part, won't ask questions, and will keep struggling kids on an indefinite subscription plan. I applied with a Master's in English Literature, seven years of classroom and one-on-one teaching experience, IB curriculum training, and a documented record of moving student test scores from failing to proficient. I was rejected -- not for my qualifications, not for my background check, not for my references -- but because I currently stay at a motel and need to replace my brake pads. in my car. Let that sink in. A learning center supposedly dedicated to helping children succeed decided that a temporary housing situation was more disqualifying than a complete lack of ability. They didn't ask about my pedagogy. They didn't ask about my results. They looked at an address and made a classist, discriminatory snap judgment, revealing exactly what they value: image over intelligence, packaging over pedagogy, and the appearance of middle-class stability over actual teaching talent. But here's what I think this place really is: a business that profits from learned helplessness. If a real teacher walked in and actually fixed a kid's reading problem in three months, that's revenue walking out the door. I don't think they don't want results. They want dependency. They want parents anxious and paying month after month while their kids stagnate in scripted, low-effort "curriculum" that a trained monkey could administer. A highly qualified educator who teaches critical thinking and self-regulation is a direct threat to that business model. So of course they rejected me. I radiate competence, and that's bad for their bottom line. Parents, ask yourself: if a center will reject a teacher for being temporarily unhoused, in this economy, in this housing market, what exactly are they prioritizing when they hire the people who shape your child's mind? The answer isn't education. It's optics. It's marketing. It's keeping the tuition checks clearing while your kid spins in place. I think this place is a scam wrapped in educational jargon. If you want your child to actually grow, go find a real tutor, one who's been in the trenches, who understands struggle, and who won't be filtered out by a business that profits from failure. Tidewater Learning Center doesn't deserve your trust, your money, or your child's time. They had a chance to hire someone who could genuinely make a difference, and they blew it because a motel address offended their delicate sensibilities. That tells you everything you need to know.
