They do have a layaway policy which is nice and they will let you pick up your purchases later if need be. The staff is very friendly and helpful and hours are good. They are closed on Tuesdays.

There is…read moresomething for everyone, including tools, toys, jewelry, home goods, rugs, art, advertising, lighters/tobacciana, even electronics. Little kids might be a bit bored but unlike many of these types of stores where it's a lot of old clothes and books, I found EOAC (may I be the first to shorten the store name to 'ee-oh ack'?) to be very diverse and was not bored at all while the rest of my family looked around. Prices can be hit or miss, and the sellers are not around in their individual 'booths' so there's no opportunity to negotiate, but given that this is a retail store, the prices were definitely not outrageous. Pro Tips: -We were there around closing time and they do shut down promptly at that time- lights off, doors locked. Make sure you buy whatever you're looking at before then. -There's a good amount of on-street parking along the side of the store, particularly the diagonal spots right around the corner, if you can snag one -The two-block area of Owego around the store is really perfect for strolling/shopping/hanging out. -The downstairs part is very clean and well organized, and not super-crowded with stuff. The upstairs is a little funkier, especially the side and back rooms (which look like they may have originally been employee break or stock rooms). Don't make the mistake of not at least taking a peek upstairs and seeing if there's anything you like. The only drawback I see is the second floor is not accessible; no ramp or elevator that I saw, only stairs (remember this was built as a department store in the 1950's). The first floor does seem wheelchair accessible though. So far we've been here twice and would stop by again if nearby. If you are a die-hard antique/collectible person, this store could be worth making into a destination all it's own.

I'm definitely a fan any…read morecafe or similar space that integrates art into their environment, and there were quite a variety of lovely pieces at Carol's - many by the owner, but also included are other local artists. The menu, of course, also has "Carol's Favorite 'Comfort Food' Sandwiches" on the menu, all named after famous artists. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I'm a huge Van Gogh fan, so I ordered the "Van Gogh" sandwich that comes with oven roasted turkey breast layered on sourdough bread and lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The sandwich was good, but I have to say that proportions of the ingredients felt a bit off. I also noticed during the prep of my plate that the chips came from opening a bag (a bulk version similar to ripple chips you'd just buy at the store). In a cafe space like this, you can't necessarily expect people to be making everything from scratch... but I think it's just helpful to note to keep expectations in line. The drink that I ordered was made well (their beverage selection is at the very back of the menu). You can definitely tell that this is a community space, and it seemed like a number of locals filtered in throughout the lunch. There are notes on the tables that advise of a 90 minute limit for sitting at the table (not something I've ever actually seen before), and there's wifi available for use by customers. Perhaps an awkward experience was just related to the overall service? You grab a menu and choose your table if you're dining in, but you end up paying at the counter. Personally, if I'm going to sit down to eat then I'd prefer to have the check brought to the table and pay that way. The space is a bit cramped by the counter, so it seems like it'd benefit to minimize the foot traffic that has to wait there. And perhaps this is silly, but upon paying for the lunch, the server handed me my receipt and said "Just sign here", and then seemed to be somewhat... abrupt? I feel like I'm pretty low maintenance when dining out, but it just left me going "OH. Okay. Time for me to get out of the way" (it's worth noting that at the time, there was nobody waiting around, or to get to, the counter). Still, it was enjoyable to stop at Carol's Coffee & Art Bar. It's a more unique space with nice offerings.

I found a BEAUTIFUL calathea stella plant that I had been looking for (and considered buying from Etsy up until that point). I'm SO happy to have found that particular plant at TG, along with a couple succulents that I had been thinking of buying. They even have some carnivorous plants (pitcher plants, etc) that I hadn't expected to find (you usually only see venus fly traps, if anything). I also purchased some succulent soil (because every time I buy soil from one of the big box stores, it has some kind of massive fungus gnat issue - wtf), and I used some that night for repotting other plant - no gnats! YAY! Pleasant service as well, and the overall setup of the place is clean and easy to navigate. Really enjoyed shopping here.

It's a beautiful place from their amazing indoor tropical greenhouse, featuring HUGE tropical plants and a koi pond, to their wide selection of plants, and even their incredible outdoor venue (where I've known several people have gotten married). It's lovely. Their plant selection is better than most in the greater Binghamton area with prices to match. I'm the type who likes to browse all the plant shops, but this one is hands down my favorite, if not also because their staff are always so friendly and knowledgeable. If you're coming by the area for a visit, it's a nice place to stop if you're the type that enjoys botanical gardens.
