I will not be a returning guest. Why, you ask? Read below to find out. During our (hubby & I) 2 night stay (Friday, 02/09/24-Sunday, 02/11/24) at this hotel location this was our experience - ---- Roach in room: we were given a room on the 21st floor (room 2107) & when we 1st walked in, we really liked our room. It was big & had cool led lighting that lit up the room w/out being too bright. The window view was great, overlooking downtown Rochester BUT then we see a small roach start crawling out of the corner. There was no way, I could stay in that room & feel comfortable, so my hubby went to the front desk to talk w/ them about switching rooms. The front desk staff was friendly & helpful w/ giving us a different room located on the 10th floor. Despite the 2nd room having no signs of any insects, I was unable to feel fully comfortable/relaxed during our stay. Thankfully, we were out sightseeing the majority of the time & it was a short 2 night stay. ---- Loud in room: I fully agree w/ previous reviews given about the walls being VERY thin & being able to hear everything from the rooms next door (people talking & tv). To combat this, I played brown noise on my phone at night when we were going to sleep. Sounds from our hotel neighbors weren't the only loud noises that we had to deal with. The ac fan in our room was very loud & made a banging noise each time it would come on. It was so loud that it actually made me jump a few times from the unexpected loud sound. ---- outlets next to bed on both sides didn't work so we couldn't charge our phones at night, next to us if we were wanting to use our phone as an alarm ---- Outdated/ Inaccurate Starbucks signage still being displayed in hotel despite there no longer being a Starbucks on-site. My hubby actually went looking for the Starbucks before being told that Starbucks is no longer there. (See pic included in this review of inaccurate signage) Hotel management should really put up a new sign letting guests know that Starbucks is closed. There were a few other issues w/ this hotel location (ie. additional parking garage fee of $6 to get out of parking garage because parking pass given didn't work) but you get the gist of why I will not being a returning guest to this hotel location. What greeted us on the window.

Room poorly lit. No fan in bathroom. Holes in linens. Not enough towels (one washcloth, for instance). When the front desk was called for more towels, no one ever answered. One bottle of complimentary water for a two-bed room. Elevator not working and so guided by signage down a serpentine route of stairs and filthy halls back to the lobby. No microwave. Someone claiming to be from the hotel knocked at 10:30pm; we had not called for anyone. False eyelashes were stuck on the window. Lots more to complain about, but it would bore you.

This was a nice hotel in a good location in Rochester. I'm surprised to see all of these terrible reviews because my experience was great. I went for a conference, and got to see their conference space, try their catering and enjoy a night at their rooftop bar. The rooms were nice and updated, all of the catered food was delicious and presented nicely and the staff was friendly. Right in downtown and easy to get around.

Water damage.

Our room unfortunately faced the street rather than the quiet courtyard. Note that this Hilton Garden Inn is next to a very big medical center and is across a historic cemetery. You would think a cemetery should be very quiet except on Halloween? Wrong. Super loud noisy sirens and honking starting before sunrise. Didn't sleep well on the first night. Asked to move to a quieter room facing the courtyard. It made all the difference. On the other hand: clean and nice pool. Not overrun by kids. No one was there in fact. Lucky us. Very nice relaxation upon arrival from the airport. Their on-site restaurant was also alright, see my other review.

The rooms and amenities are dated, don't feel the cleanest and the surrounding cast of eccentric neighbors always hanging around the entrances or drinking open liquor on the sidewalk can be a bit unnerving. Also was only told AFTER getting a breakfast plate at the buffet that I'd be charged 15 bucks was frustrating. Had I known prior, I would've gone elsewhere and not paid $15 for mediocre hotel breakfast buffet.

After making our reservation, we had tried to extend it when our plans changed, and the hotel was booked, so we had to stay over at a different hotel on the first night, which had us requesting a really early check in (~noon) and were pleasantly surprised that they were able to accommodate it. We were assigned a 2 room suite with a little kitchenette and 2 balconies. It was much too cold to sit outside, but we were pretty excited about the balconies, and hope to return to enjoy that. The room was very spacious, both the bedroom and the living room. Water temperature was good, water pressure in the shower was great. We had plenty of linens. The staff were really friendly. There is a rooftop cocktail bar with outdoor areas that it was too cold to use, but looked cute. We did eat at the restaurant and visit the cocktail bar, and enjoyed both. Note that as of Q1 2026, there is construction on the property as they renovate some of the floors. So there is a bit of dust on the elevators and some construction noise at times. This also lowers the capacity of the hotel as only about half is complete.

Location: It's in a beautiful neighborhood, on a picturesque block, within walking distance to Park Avenue, which has several great restaurants and shops. Comfort: The beds are insanely comfortable (reminds me of the W Hotel beds) and the rooms are very spacious with everything you might need (Netflix, mini-fridge; closet; complimentary lux bath gel, shampoo, conditioner; iron; hairdryer, etc.). The entire place is charmingly historic but also thoroughly updated / remodeled, so everything is in perfect working order and clean/stylish. Service: Gary, the innkeeper/manager, is amazing. He treated us so well and makes the most delicious homemade muffins and eggs for breakfast! He's friendly, caring, and a great resource throughout the stay, who is accessible but not intrusive. Getting around: Like I said, great location and also very easy for Uber/Lyft to find. We were going to rent a car but honestly didn't really need one. If you do, though, there's parking on site in the back and also plenty of parking on the street. Overall, just a terrific place!!!
