My stay at the Hyatt Place Orlando in Buena Vista was deeply disappointing. While the front desk staff was incredibly friendly and tried to be helpful, the issues with cleanliness, the housekeeping department, and security were inexcusable.
The first night of our stay, I woke up in the middle of the night wheezing due to my asthma. After using my inhaler, I turned on a small light and noticed something alarming--the comforter I had been sleeping under was full of black, mold-like stains on the inside. Upon closer inspection, the entire comforter was filthy and appeared moldy within the layers. It was shocking and extremely unsettling. We immediately threw both comforters into the corner of the room and had no choice but to sleep with just the sheets for the rest of the night.
First thing the next morning, I reported the issue to the front desk, and they assured me it would be addressed and replaced while we were out for the day. However, when we returned from Disney that evening, the dirty comforters were still on the floor, and the beds had not been changed. Once again, we had to sleep with just the sheets, which was incredibly frustrating.
The following day, while we were at Universal, housekeeping finally came to clean the room. When we returned that night, we discovered that the moldy comforters were either placed back on the beds or replaced with new ones that were also dirty, with the same black, mold-like stains inside. This was absolutely appalling and made it clear that the hotel's housekeeping standards were completely unacceptable. I have included photo proof of the comforters to show the severity of this issue.
To make matters worse, I discovered that my slide slippers went missing after housekeeping had been in the room. Due to items being stolen in the past, I had set my bag up in a specific manner, took a photo of it before leaving, and compared it to how it looked when I returned. Low and behold, someone had gone through my bags. My belongings had been moved, further confirming my suspicion. This was an incredibly unsettling experience and left me feeling violated and unsafe during the remainder of my stay.
I do want to note that the staff at the front desk, including the man who checked us in and the woman who provided us with clean cotton blankets late that first night, were very friendly and tried their best to help. Unfortunately, their efforts were completely undermined by the poor execution, lack of attention from the housekeeping department, and blatant disregard for guest security.
For anyone staying here, I strongly urge you to turn off all the lights except for a dim one and hold the comforters up to the light to check for mold. You may be shocked by what you find. This level of uncleanliness is unacceptable and poses serious health risks, especially for someone like me with asthma.
I strongly urge management to address these issues immediately. The current state of housekeeping, cleanliness, and security reflects poorly on the Hyatt brand, and I will be hesitant to stay at this or any other Hyatt property in the future. read more
