I am truly at a loss. I thought that any place here in my home town other than Walgreens would at the very least respect me as a person that is a patient with a chronic mental illness that requires treatment daily. As a recovering opiate addict that struggled to find the right fit and program that worked for me, I was elated when I met my current physician and I have not even had a thought pop into my head that would steer me back to those old behaviors. I have been a client at Hy-Vee (3700 Broadway, Quincy, IL 62301) right at a year now and a patient of my mental healthcare doctor for right at three years.
Now my issue is not with the doctor's practice or Hy-vee the store as a whole, however, there is at least one tech that has no business working in the field that she does. Her rude, callous behavior already should raise several red flags. I can tell you from experience that being naive or undereducation when it comes to workers like this. This Pharmacy tech, her first name is Marylynn that I am aware of does several very discriminating actions and has gotten away with these quirks for years. I have lost count of how many different pharmacies she has worked for and her attitude/behavior is very belittling to us patients.
Today was the straw that broke the camel's back though and I am calling corporate on this particular employee. While I would usually recommend this particular Hy-Vee due to the selections of items offered and very good customer service whenever this Marylynn woman is not there. I digress, while this has been an ongoing issue with this person that judges people by the medications they are administered to treat illness, some chronic, some acute- (Yes Ms. Marylynn, I worked as an IL Licensed Practical Nurse for several years before the incident's you have caused over the last few months) Anyone that takes medication for mental health issues and maintenance meds for opiate addictions such as Suboxone. Those of us with a dual diagnosis slip through the cracks and however her mind works, we are still the drug-seeking junkies' society has made us out to be even when having not touched the damn stuff over three years (in my case anyhow)
There is no escaping this attitude of hers. If you call in to check on medication, she immediately tells you it's not called in without checking proper channels. I, however, am privy to this little game and call her out without issue anymore.
Someone with this same holier than thou mannerisms can cause some serious issues in a patient, It's a damn good thing I am not a diabetic or cancer patient... worse yet I'm not a child relying on the medication that this "tech" supposedly processed. Like today, for instance, my doctor's nurse called in my medications yesterday and when I called just after 8 am this morning, she tried to insist that they only had the one item which wasn't ready because they were getting a new shipment in and the one could be filled. This is all fine and well but what happened to the other two meds that were called in.
The woman got smart with me, Going through every stereotypical BS she could mutter, especially after I reminded her that this was the third/fourth time the pharmacy has misplaced my meds. She wanted to argue with that saying that this incident could not have happened. I cut her off, my doctor has it documented every time this person tries to pull the same crap different day/month. She was sickening sweet when asked to check to voicemail messages and came back sounding not very pleased when she had to tell me that yes my doctor's office had in fact called in all three medications in at once. I was done with her attitude toward myself and others, explaining how many times this exact scenario had played out at least several times this past year. She wanted to argue but I shut it down quick. My main issue was to have my meds filled and delivered in a timely fashion. EVEN gave her the phone number to my cell incase the lobby doors were locked when the delivery guy arrived.
This first conversation took place at near 9 am this morning, her denying my meds have never been lost but taking down the current number for the delivery driver. I waited 8 hours to find out she never gave the driver the new phone contact info. Finally, a wonderful employee named Matt did deliver my medications but I feel that after all the chaos, Marylynn should at least be brought up for judging clients on medications that they are taking. She always gives the impression that she looks down on those she feels is beneath her and ignores the chances clients give her t redeem the situation. This woman has no business in a customer service position, let alone one that handles medication. I will be calling corporate to explain this situation so that others, including myself, do not listen to her stupid arguments. Someone in her position should have a little empathy and understand that patients like me struggle each day with our horrid choices in our past. read more
