You would be surprised at their selection in this small store....you could eat out of it only for weeks. And the hours late at night are helpful. Only drawback is the homeless that hang around and bother you sometimes. This place is right next to Des Moines Justice center...but you can't get a cop to walk across the street to run them off.

Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed with my experience just because it lasts a fair amount of items that I was hoping to find. The staff here was very friendly and I did like their selection of alcohol too. They didn't have too much of a crab and go selection either though they didn't have a nice little Bakery with some great vegan options. A decent selection of fresh produce. Easy access to the streets and Highway nearby which was the primary reason I came by too. Prices is here were a little Sky High too. Thankfully it's nice and peaceful if you come here in the morning

I had to wait an extra 15 minutes, ordered all white meat, got the standard mixed. Mashed potatoes no gravy were brown and had a bad taste like they were burnt-inedible. I would have been better off not ordering ahead as they had chicken available and better looking potatoes that were in the warmer with no waiting. Pretty disappointing experience

All I ever expect out of convenience store is parking (check), cleanliness (check), and service (double check). This was a very pleasant experience, and I highly recommend this Kwik Star. Here's a pick of me enjoying my fine brewed Karuba (love it) coffee with a great song for the road.)

I'm always singing the praises of Cash Saver, and how much money I save there. When they first…read moreopened two years ago, I did a comparison shopping trip, buying first at Cash Saver, and then getting the exact same items at Hy-Vee, and seeing the difference in my total. I saved 60% on my total bill shopping at Cash Saver, even factoring in the 10% to the total that Cash Saver adds. I decided (on a whim, and just for fun) to try this little experiment again. The only thing Cash Saver had that wasn't available at Hy-Vee was egg nog. I substituted egg nog (1.96) for eggs at Hy-Vee (1.99). Otherwise, the Best Choice store brand was switched to the Hy-Vee store brand, national brands stayed the same. Here is my total: 34 items, Cash Saver 63.85 34 items, Hy-Vee 128.35 -0.03 for egg nog THIS IS A TOTAL SAVINGS OF 64.47! And, that is also accounting for the 10% added to the total. I have never had an issue finding what I need here. I love this store. Before you dismiss it, learn your way around the store. At least try getting your staples here. Sometimes I see expired products, just let the manager know. Its because not a lot of people are shopping here, and that's a shame.

Customer service counter is always shut down lights off with a sign up/…read morethe female customer rep/employee is always sitting down in the the control pod area when you walk in the building on the computer or reading a book or on her cell phone. The customer service area should not be shut down with the lights off during business hours.. I've seen several customer needs not being met because of this .I myself had to go to Hy-Vee to get my much needed service. This female employee often gets on the intercom announcing to all employees to stop doing what they are doing/stocking shelves cutting meat from the meat dept. etc. and get carts from outside while she doesn't help poor customer service not a good example.

Sip N Burn is a nice little shop with a decent selection…read more The gentleman at the front counter was in a VR session with glasses on when I walked in. He took them off and greeted me. I kind of felt a little bad for interrupting him as I was just browsing. Lol From the Western Clive West Des Moines area it was about a 35 min drive out to North Ankeny but I wanted to check out the shelves here. Love the high wooden displays that give parts of the shop an almost library like look... A lot of the bourbon and whiskey is standard to what you can find at other area shops. Pricing is on par or just a couple of dollars higher. I can see the convenience of this shop to the residents of Northern Ankeny. It's really the only liquor store in the area. There is Costco, but the 10-15 min drive back to Neighborhood or longer to Liquor Lovers would be a pain if you just need to run in and grab something. Nothing screamed "Buy me!" so I walked out empty handed. With it being the haul that it is for me from my home base in the metro (and the speed trap they were running between 1st and 36th on I35) I doubt that I make a special trip back to Sip N Burn, but I won't hesitate to swing in again if I am in the area.

We were eventually seated near the door and it was very cold (the staff was wearing coats). We got chips, salsa, and bean dip to start and they had a unique taste. Overall, the vibe is very relaxed - 2 types of music playing and the staff playing pool in the back. This doesn't beat our favorite place, so we probably won't be back.
