Maybe he softened up that day! :) Anyway, when we visit Germany, we live in Karlsruhe with long time friends ( a 40 minute drive from The Zuckerladen) ... and it is always one of the very first stops we make after we arrive in Deutschland. The owner is a charming and eccentric soul... The Willy Wonka of Heidelberg, and the candy he has selected for his customers is out of this world - from the standard German Gummi bears, to extremely amazingly fine chocolate, and everything in-between. Its location is also delightfully charming- situated in a nice cozy little part of town. A MUST when you visit Heidelberg... for the chocolate, and everything else that comes along with it. The Museum is on the second floor, and the Cafe is on the first floor. At the café, we had the Ritter Sport latte, which boasts a whole chocolate bar melted inside, and a slice of strawberry, rhubarb and white chocolate pie. Recommended!
