We enjoyed a cozy, quiet few nights here in Oscoda at a friend's recommendation. We understand why they love this place. Room was immaculate - comfy and well-appointed with a gas fireplace, convenient kitchenette/wet bar and spacious bathroom. Linens and towels are plush and furnishing are lovely. Be sure to request the complimentary robes-they make getting in and out to the hot tub bearable in 10 degree weather. Room looks out over Lake Huron. Vast and beautiful. Breakfast is delivered to your room at a time you select and you're given a menu to select from at check-in. Surprise! Dessert is delivered at 5 pm each night. The texted reminders and communication are helpful. Overall, it is evident that the owners and everyone who works here takes great pride in this property and wants their guests to have a lovely experience, and we certainly did! Absolutely Perfect Stay at Huron House Huron House is hands down the most extraordinary B&B we've ever experienced. Every guest room faces Lake Huron, so you can wake up to waves crashing on the shore or sit outside in high Adirondack chairs and watch the sunrise over the water. The sandy beach has even more chairs, cozy circular seating around glowing fire pits, and a peaceful shoreline lined with rocks--it feels like your own private escape. The rooms are impeccable, decorated in soothing creams and beiges. The Lady Americana beds (with their dreamy 20-inch mattresses) gave us the best sleep of our lives. Each room has thoughtful luxuries--a fireplace, side jacuzzi, a massive whirlpool tub, and spa-like showers with sprays from every angle. Every detail felt indulgent yet calming. Pam, the owner, is a gem--so warm and welcoming. Her husband and the chef elevate the experience even further with a true Michelin-worthy breakfast menu each morning: from smoked salmon with homemade bread and pickled onions, to buttery croissants, omelets, and more. Every evening at 5pm, they surprise guests with a decadent dessert. These touches made our stay unforgettable. We travel often, and this is by far the best B&B--or hotel--we've ever stayed at. If I could give Huron House zero stars, I would. My friends and I booked this property well in advance for a wedding weekend--only to have our reservations abruptly canceled without explanation, just weeks before the event. The wedding isn't even being held at the hotel, so there's no logical reason for this last-minute decision. To make matters worse, no one will answer the phone or respond to messages. It's been complete silence while we scramble to find new accommodations for a major life event we carefully planned around this place. Completely unprofessional, inconsiderate, and utterly disappointing. If you're planning anything time-sensitive or important, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. They clearly don't value guests or honor commitments even after taking your deposit and signing a contract. read more

Surprised with this weekend trip. Had no idea where I was being taken and ended up at this beauty! This place was the true definition of bed and breakfast. Beautiful meal at my door every morning. Waking up to clear skies and the sound of the lake as the soft breeze created miniature waves, such a beautiful melody to my ears. I was blown away that something this beautiful was only a few hours away! The hospitality was absolutely wonderful. The food was 5star..not sure who the chef was but everything was delicious and flavorful wish I could've met them. I will definitely frequent this place. We made a reservation in September 2024 for a Saturday & Sunday night stay in June 2025. We made the reservation along with several other couples that were attending a wedding in the area. The reservations were for mostly age 60+ guests. Absolutely no wedding related events were planned at the Huron House. In May 2025, I received an email that "Per my Request" my reservation had been cancelled. I tried to call for an explanation and they were not answering the phone and not returning calls. I eventually received an email that advised me to "talk to the Bride who had all the information related to the cancelation". Their T&C's indicate they reserve the right to cancel any reservations for any reason not illegal. Terrible experience. Avoid this place. read more

Outstanding bed and breakfast! We stayed in the Oscoda Room, a two-room suite with gorgeous views of Lake Huron and the gardens. It is obvious that the owners were meticulous when designing the property--down decorating the rooms to the artistically designed gardens. Since our room was on the second floor, we kept our door partially opened--falling asleep to sounds of the water and waves--and waking up to sounds of singing birds. The room had both a small hot tub on the private deck and large spa tub inside. The separate tiled shower was easily large enough for two. We also had a gas fireplace in the room with the spa tub. The mini-fridge was larger than most mini-fridges and had a nice sized freezer. The innkeeper and staff are not intrusive, allowing guests to communicate with them through a preferred method of text, phone, or face-to-face. Breakfast is delivered quietly each morning with a knock on the door. A surprise dessert is left outside guests' doors every evening. We did find their Digital Guestbook with "electronic signature" somewhat presumptuous and contemptuous to future guests. Following guaranteeing the stay with a credit card and and making a nonrefundable advance payment, we received an email with a link to the Digital Guestbook stating that until signed the agreement, our stay was not guaranteed--and our reserved room could be returned to the open inventory. The guestbook and request should have been emailed with the advance payment invoice, since ACCEPTING ADVANCE PAYMENT, is an agreement of guarantee. While the guestbook contained standard information (check-in/check-out, operating fireplace/thermostat/ hot tub, etc.), its primary purpose was the property's rules and consequences, stating guests would be charged for deviations or asked to vacate the premises without refund. Totally understand the signed guestbook is to protect their property--but detailing each rule and its consequence just seemed a little too much. Simple language stating the property reserves the right to charge guests for unreported damages should be enough, rather than a listing each type of damage (damage fee will be charged for stains to towels, a damage fee will be charged for breakage of glassware, and so on). CONS: (1) Carpet on stairs to 2nd floor in the main house be cleaned. Very dirty and didn't give the best first impression. (2) Ice machine was not working during our stay, so staff set up a shared cooler of ice in the lobby for guests. Not a great alternative since guests sharing a cooler could lead to cross-contamination and pose serious health risks. (3) Very few, if any, good places to eat close by. But Tawas City is close by and has some fun boutique shops and galleries. (4) Digital Guestbook entire procedure and lengthy rule language. read more

Absolutely wonderful. My husband and I chose to go here for our 5th wedding anniversary and we will Absolutely be back! The location is perfection with stunning views of the lake and its so peaceful and quiet! Being am adult only place certainly helped with the quiet but even firther down where you could see kids playing it was nice and restful. The waves crashed on the beach in a lulling sort of way and the firepits were a great and romantic setting for an evening glass of wine. There were also a few chairs for lounging on the beach. The room itself was stunning. We stayed in au Sable. The bath was huge and with a perfect view of the TV. The shower was awesome with tons of shower heads and a waterfall. We arrived a tad too late on day one to place a pizza order but they were kind enough to allow us to put in for one anyways and it was so good. The breakfasts in the morning were fantastic and decent choices each morning and the desserts at night were such a wonderful treat. Also, the cookies in the main room were great. My only complaint is that we couldn't use our hot tub for the entire first day bc as soon as we tried to get in it, it wreaked of chemicals. This was our second visit to Huron House, and it was therapeutic. We were going stir crazy sitting home, even though staying busy with our little driver ed business. We needed a getaway bad, having canceled at least 5 of them in the past year. This idea popped up when we had a few days off between classes. So we booked 2 nights for the following week in the Tawas room. By Monday of that week, we'd had to postpone that week's class due to a few quarantining students, so I called and we were able to add a 3rd night. The room was clean, beautiful, and the whole place was so peaceful. Breakfasts were hearty and delicious, and you really didn't need lunch after that. We felt safe, with private entrances, desk communication via texts, masks on staff. Our first morning there brought a breathtaking sunrise, and our second & third a totally different morning view, as skies looked stormier during more wintery weather. Each had its own beauty. The 2nd night, a snowstorm brought in high winds, which howled and sent waves crashing through the ice ridge. It was a fabulous nature show to watch. As far as any suggestions for improvement, all we would add is maybe hooks on the bathroom door for robes, and a little bigger table for breakfast - there's so much, it was hard to fit it all on that little table. I believe tables are bigger in some of the rooms. We'll be back, as you can't beat the views, the service, the peace and quiet. Wonderful couple's getaway. read more

Room was great- huge fireplace- allowed to have a few windows open and listen to the waves and pretend I was in Caribbean- lol . Huge jetted tub in room. 3 totally excellent breakfasts delivered to the room each morning. Desert at 6 pm nightly. The lost 5th star was because of housekeeping- only requested it the 2nd. Day. The view is incredible and the staff was friendly. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The shower was great, it was small though- acceptable size for 1 person use at a time. We had an outside tub with an incredible view. The hot tub is a 2 person tub which I have never been in one that small before so I was surprised. I would prefer a larger tub for the purpose of keeping the hot tub hot longer for being outside. We went in off season February for our anniversary on a Sunday so they offered food and it was disappointing so not order their flatbread which was surprising because the included breakfast was fantastic! I will likely go back as this is a short drive getaway and beautiful clean place on Lake Huron. read more

Five star quality and service all the way. My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway last month. Everything about our stay here was incredible, from the excellent hospitality, lovely accommodations, and amazing view of Lake Huron, to the high quality linens, Turkish towels, fluffy guest robes, and delicious breakfast in bed. It was everything I think a quality B & B should be and probably a bit more. We stayed for the weekend, but as soon as we checked in, we knew that we probably wanted to stay longer. The only downside to our trip was that it was too short. We had booked online a month prior after checking out their website. Once we checked into our suite, we definitely not disappointed. Honestly, everything lived up to our expectations, surpassing them on some levels. The suite, the service, the view, etc were all every bit as nice as I had hoped, even more so. There's nothing like catching sunrise and sunset on the back deck of the inn with coffee in hand! Our room was comfortably appointed, with a jacuzzi tub, electric fireplace, HD TV hooked up with Pandora and streaming services, plus a microwave, mini refrigerator, over sized leather chairs, a Keurig, a mini bar and snacks, IPOD docking station, glassware/china/flatware, as well as a king sized bed with the softest linens I've seen in a hotel in ages, Turkish towels and fluffy guest robes, which were a plus for getting in and out of our private hot tub, which was fenced in from prying eyes! In the evening, we were served dessert and in the morning, a nice breakfast in bed. The food was great, the service was nothing less than excellent and the accommodations were lovely. The manager also gave us vegetarian/GF breakfast menu options from which to choose upon check in, which was nice for anyone adhering to a stricter diet or with certain allergies. I appreciated the flexibility. The inn was located directly on the beach, overlooking Lake Huron. The back deck also featured comfortable seating, a barbecue area and a fire pit, plus a lovely garden. The view and location really sell this place, but everything about it spelled "romantic weekend away." As for the price, we paid about $225 per night, which isn't too shabby considering the quality of our suite and the excellent hospitality, as well as the fact that this is a resort town, where nothing is all that cheap. I'd say it was worth the price and probably then some, if I'm being honest. When we initially booked the room online, we thought it might have cost more, but were surprised it was more affordable than we thought. If you're a couple looking for a romantic weekend up north, this place is the ticket. If you're looking for a more family-friendly type place, you probably would want to look elsewhere and keep this location in mind for a romantic beach get away somewhere down the line. All in all, we had a great time and can't wait to book our next trip. After all, that awesome hot tub is waiting.... seriously, it's calling my name. read more

Management offered us the use of another hot tub (that room was vacant for the night) across the courtyard (it was raining and dark) and we declined. First, Five Stars for Lake Huron and its' shoreline. Without that, and the views you can enjoy, there would be no reason to write this review. Four Stars for the beach where one can spend some time at the lake. It isn't managed as well as it could be, but the shoreline is accessible for all, and that's worth a lot. Three Stars for the Huron House building itself. The rooms that afford you a direct view of the beach and lake are the best, obviously. The owners have been updating them from time to time, and have done reasonably well keeping them in shape. I have, however, noticed holes in screens, and a rotating fan knob coming off in my hand, and have kept quiet about them, mainly because of the staff, which will be covered next. The little details of a visit can be telling. Two Stars for the concept that this is actually a Bed and Breakfast, and you'll experience what one may be used to at one. Also, for the staff that I've witnessed at the Huron House in the past few years. When my wife and I started going to the Huron House a number of years ago, the original owners were on-site regularly, and they had a friendly staff that really invested themselves in the customer care necessary to make a successful visit. New owners have taken over in the past few years, and I've noticed the service level and consistency has declined. Some staff are still nice, but some have seemed less than congenial. I've read the reviews at another well-known travel site, and have learned over the years to read not only the good ones but also the bad ones as well to get a more complete picture. (I get suspicious if I only find five star reviews for any business.) The specifics cited by the latter for the Huron House include some pretty unfortunate situations, but the one that stood out was where a guest had left an item behind, were in contact with the Huron House, and had their item mailed to them. The guest later discovered that HH had charged the guest's credit card for the postage and time it took to mail the item (presumably at the Post Office a few miles up the road in Oscoda). When the guest mentioned this in their review, the reply was, in part, that charging the guest to return their item was industry standard. Was that really so important to say, much less do? I'd have been irked as well if after spending a couple days there, I found out I'd been charged even more. Other replies I see often reference the many five star reviews that the Huron House receives, as in: "...all these people loved their stay here, and we're not sure why you didn't. However, if you decide not to return, you will be missed." If it was deemed necessary to say something like that, then it's likely you won't be missed all that much. Finally, One Star for the idea that this level of service is acceptable for the average cost of around $500 for a two-night stay in the off-season, and near $800 for a two-night stay in season. One has to realize that this price point is not at all common for that area, as there's little to find in terms of "big-city" amenities in the Oscoda and Tawas areas. I understand why it might be hard to get quality management and staff to work that far from a populated area, as one would likely have to be from there to want to stay there long-term. Still, is the cost justified by the end experience? An aside: I also have seen a mention of their "sister B & B" in West Michigan on the Huron House site, so based upon looking at their site, I see one reason the prices at the Huron House have gone up. The investor or investors here are funding their expanding business portfolio, and your contribution to the Huron House coffers are much appreciated. I've stayed at places with prices like that in other areas, and the service was commensurate with the cost. There were also many more options for area dining and outside visits. I realize the lake and the beach are the draw here, and I gave them great reviews. I don't think that the rest of the package holds up its' end of the experience. So, overall the rating is Three Stars, largely because what nature has placed there to enjoy. If you don't really expect a Bed and Breakfast, but more of a resort hotel with some food deliveries, and don't feel that the price is out of line, then this may be your place. If you're watching your costs, and notice your bill is quite high for a stay around Oscoda, then you might be better served by putting some more consideration into your plans. I'm not saying don't go - in fact, I may visit there again sometime to spend time on the beach. I do know it isn't as friendly at Huron House as it used to be, and I don't see notable overall improvements to match the notable overall price increases. It's getting more difficult to justify the cost of looking at the Lake Huron shoreline from a place that doesn't feel a great need to make progress. read more

Upscale B&B resort & worth every Penny. I surprised my wife for our 2nd wedding Anniversary. We walked into the Oscoda room after being greeted by friendly staff, even though it was almost 9:00pm- And found a beautiful updated suite, fabulous balcony with a view of Lake huron, their subtle lights on the garden lighting the boardwalk paths to the beach, only 25 yards away. Champagne & confectionary treats were positioned carefully on the edge of the jacuzzi bath for 2 which we did use (very clean!) You wake up to smell of a delicious breakfast (you choose delivery time of your service the night before) , and it is brought right to your door. Cant say enough about this place. We only had the one night this trip but we will definitely be back, and highly recommend! We forgot our HH insignia champagne flutes so we we'll have to visit again read more

Absolutely the most romantic Bed and Breakfast! Situated right on the sandy beach - most of the rooms have a view of the lake. You will be greeted by the rising sun every morning... Every morning delicious breakfast will be waiting on a serving table in front of your door. Delicious and also home cooked. Huron House is clean, charming and memorable. A gorgeously landscaped garden is secluded by the few buildings. Decorated with night lights, statues and wooden paths it invites you to the deck by the lake. You can read a book late at night on one of the comfortable chairs, drink your coffee early in the morning or grill for lunch. read more

My sister and her fiance surprised us by eloping and getting married on the beach at Huron House. They decided to have it at the Huron House after visiting some other places in the area and loving the property. When they came up to plan the wedding they were told the planner was on vacation but after talking to the lady in the office about their plans for a simple 10 min ceremony with 10 adults (including themselves) and my 10 month old son...the lady said it would be no problem as long as they buy a room, which they were planning on doing. They booked a room thinking they were set for their perfect day. Fast forward to the event. They check in and the lady they "cleared" everything with is there to check them in. They see us setting up when another shorter lady comes out claiming we didn't pay for the package and then when seeing my son says rudely..."no kids aloud you need to get him out of here now!" She doesn't pull anyone aside to ask what is going on. She didn't try to ask what the miscommunication was. When we try to tell her our side of what was going on and how we had tried to book the package but we're told we were okay just doing what we were doing, she threatens us and says we need to vacate the premises now. We tell her we will but we want a refund for the room and they agreed. They would not talk to us in a civil tone and embarrassed my sister and her new husband instead of trying to make their special day.... special. When the original woman who helped my sister was walking back into the building I tried to talk to her about how we could fix this, what did the package include and she shut me down, would not help me and told me that it is all over now. I'm guessing she didn't want to get in trouble for not booking a wedding correctly and didn't say anything. I was so sad for my sister and couldn't believe how they were treating us. They could have pulled anyone aside to talk to them about the situation. They instead made a scene and threaten the cops on us. My husband asked about my son if they were going to have the cops take him and the manager said we can make agrrangements. Overall this situation could have been handled way better. The customer service skills were very lacking and they embarrassed us completely. We are not sure why a scene needed to be made instead of pulling someone aside and clearing up the situation. My sister's best day was almost ruined because of this place not working with us, not training their employees to know how to handle a wedding and not informing guests that kids are not aloud (even as a wedding guest) by announcing it across the yard and kicking him out after we said he would be in attendance. Good thing the restaurant and other places we worked with for the wedding we're more accommodating and we saved the day without having to deal with the crappy service we were given at your establishment. We were able to get a better beach location and the night was beautiful, no thanks to you. Good luck with your future endeavors if you treat others like this. My wife and I just returned from our 2nd annual trip to Lake Huron. As much as we liked Huron House last year, we hoped the B&B would be the same this year. We were both thrilled beyond belief that was even better than last year. While driving up and down Route 23, it is clear Huron House is, by far, the nicest B&B in the area. It is a little pricey but with the delicious breakfasts, desserts, and incredible views, it is really the best value in the area. The staff was once again very friendly and attentive. The breakfasts were restaurant quality and it was nice to have a delicious dessert awaiting us after long days of sight seeing and golf. The B&B was full but it never seemed to be crowded We stayed in the Moonshadow suite this year and the shower had an awesome 3 head sprayer which was refreshing. Again, the room was immaculate. If you are looking for a romantic and quiet get away, this is the place. We are here now! They absolutely don't miss a thing! You want for nothing here! From the smallest details to the comforts of luxury every detail is exquisite. The sheets, bedding and pillows are perfect, so soft and serene. The basket of goodies, water and snacks are perfect. A late snack of brownies delivered in the evening was a nice touch. A breakfast of juice, coffee, a croissant with caramel and fresh fruit in the morning Was good, but very sweet. The sausage was very good! The second day stuffed french toast was served dripping in syrup, way too sweet and the bacon was also drenched in syrup. Coffee was more like tea. The way they presented however was wonderful! Bev is a wonderful hostess and goes above and beyond. They even thought of a make-up washcloth, a basket of makeup remover pads and other little luxuries. The hot tub in the room with candles and soft fluffy towels was wonderful. A Keurig coffee maker with delicious coffees after a sunrise walk on the beach was so cool. We stayed here 14 years ago and loved it. This time, was even better. Can't say enough good things. Yes, it is on US 23. But we heard nothing from the outside. Trust us! Solid place to stay between Tawas and Oscoda. Overall, we had a very nice experience. Pluses include: good views of the lake, a nice stretch of beach where you can walk for miles in either direction, breakfast left outside your room every morning, private hot tub with many rooms, and nice spacious rooms. My slight quibbles involve the fact that you are certainly not secluded. US-23 can be a bit loud and runs right behind the place, and there's quite a few suites on the property. Everyone was really nice and we didn't have any problems with noise or anything, but there were always a lot of folks around. Not that it matters, but it seemed more like a nice beach motel than a traditional B&B to me. read more

100% by far, the worst experience ever! We have been reoccurring customers of the Huron House in Oscoda since 2012. This time was our last time! We have recommended this place for years to many many friends and will immediately stop doing so! When we check in in Friday for our Anniversary weekend, we asked for an extended check out on Sunday (2 night stay). The girl who checked us in was very nice and told us we could have till noon. On Sunday at 11:00 am we received a pounding on our door by housekeeping- no knocking, pounding. We were literally getting ready and packing up. we let her know they have us till noon - she apologized and said ok. At 11:28 am we received a very loud pounding - as I opened the door the owner introduced herself while yelling - literally belligerent- yelling at us to get out, she did not approve of an extended stay. We were shocked! We packed up as fast as we can and left and 11:45. As we were leaving I let her know that her behavior was 100% unprofessional and out of line. That if she had an issue it should've been taken up with her employee. How she treated us was so horrible and for no reason at all. We stay to ourselves. She clearly didn't like being told that her behavior was so poor because she then told us to never come back - after all the stays and thousands of dollars we've spent there over the years. Very upsetting. We will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN OR REFER AGAIN! read more
