Major train station in Helsinki. Night trains and other local trains pass through here all day…read moreevery day. We took a night train from Lapland to Helsinki and arrived at this station around 630am. The station was clear and easy to navigate- similar to other train stations in nearby countries. Outside of the platform but still in the station you'll find quick bites like Starbucks, Burger King, Subway, etc. There is also a convenient store inside for drinks/snacks. For it being 630am this station was packed, there's a few main seating areas and they were full. We had no problem getting off the train, grabbing a coffee, and heading off to our hotel. This station is also super close to the city center. Several shops (including a mall) and a ton of restaurants are within a 8ish minute walk making it a very convenient location.

Great landmark of the city. Took the train from the airport to the city and it is located right in…read morethe downtown. Easy and clean station. Spacious and very well architecturally. Walking distances to hotels, places in downtown. Wishing the station, plenty of quick bite/drink places as well as sit down dinning. Also there are stores and shops too. This is the main station so plenty of destinations to choose. For me, easy place to go and get to. Enjoyed it a lot.

Stops history begins 1949 when it was private trains stop nearby factory Strömberg, on time trains just stops when factory works started and ended. Only road was on factory gates nowhere else. ..... Currently trains stops nearly 24/7 here. Nearest bus line is 54. No free parking on area, some paid parking space nearby. Area has private parking space.

Took the train out of Helsinki airport the other day and it was a quick and easy experience…read more Signage is clear from the terminal to get to the trains. There are a couple very deep escalators to go down into the train station. Payment is made via the app. There are also payment islands in the middle of the train station. Payment can also be made by tapping the card reader once on board after selecting the zones and the quantity of tickets. The train into the city is 4,3 Euros with no airport surcharge unlike other cities and takes 38 minutes to get into the city centre.

But like some of the better ones, there is a nice, simple, easy system to get you between the two! Getting from the arrivals hall to the train station is a bit of a walk but it's well lit, it's smooth, and there is plenty of signage so that you can be sure that you're going the right way. Easy handicapped access with escalators and elevators down to the platform level. At the platform, there are a couple of helpers but I'm an old pro at these things and I was easily able to work out the cost for the ticket and purchase it with a €20 note. After taking out the €5 for the ticket, I now have 15 €1 coins. What I have since learned is that there's an app - HSL - and you can purchase your ticket on the app, saving you 50 cents and tons of hassle.
