Over estimate and terrible craftsmanship on two occasions. Should never have gone back to them but others can learn from my mistake.

My experience was an annoying, frustrating and exhausting ordeal. I received no notice of the work scheduled on my house after waiting nearly 6 months to begin. They showed up unprepared and without advising they''d be arriving, EVERY time. Siding on the west side was installed without the replacement underlayment causing the siding to be removed and then reinstalled to get it right. One of many sloppy errors too numerous to note here. I also had to obtain another painter as Grandel's had no paint crew, yet this job and cost was included in the invoices sent to me! To be brief as possible, my numerous calls and texts were ignored. If I went in to talk to Zane he was never in, in a meeting or on the phone! I never received a signed contract detailing the work but did receive numerous invoices indicating I was seriously in arrears. Interestingly, I was in arrears for unfinished work! I had to obtain another company to finish much of the work. Painting my garage for one. The stack on my roof is crooked after the roofing job and the finish trim on the west side siding job is very substandard, gaps, too short, etc. The detail is terrible. i will have to obtain another company to remedy this. To close, I deducted 15% from the price charged me for the west side siding and paid them accordingly for all the other work they had completed. I advised this company in my text, they had 1 month to remedy these repairs. I was ignored for another month about getting a copy of my work contract with them and finally I asked, in a text message, for an invoice from Grandel's, that I had paid in full. I did receive this. To be fair, the job, thanks to my being on site every time and insisting, ended up being rather decent. Except for the finish work. Awful. I rated them with 1 star and that is being generous. I will never use them again and tell anybody that needs work done about my experience and would not recommend Grandel's ever. C. A. McKain North Platte

Paid for materials, then he gets arrested. Sick and tired of most of the contractors in North Platte. Running out of companies to get the job done, let alone money for lawyers, etc. read more

Dan McNeel had to climb multiple trees to top them first and had to be careful lowering large branches so as to protect my neighbor's expensive fence. In May 2026 he toppled a massive 100+ year old cottonwood tree at my Mom's place near North Platte, NE. Again, exemplary know-how for a huge job. Dan has the equipment and experience to make hard jobs look easy and he isn't satisified until the customer is happy. McNeel Chimney Sweep We had Dan clean our fireplace chimney at our new-to-us house near Lincoln, NE in Jan 2026. Again, fantastic job accessing/cleaning the chimney, inspecting the fireplace equipment, and making recommendations for safe usage. We highly recommend the chimney cleaning service to everyone with a fireplace or heating stove! Dan is The Man! Trust him with your tough jobs...he'll get it done at a very fair price! - J. However, I can't give a good review as he never finished the job. He was difficult to contact by phone throughout the whole process and he often didnt show up to the work site at all. Many days excuses were given as to why he couldnt be there, which may or may not have been true. Also, not only did he not finish the job, he and his employees damaged a large area of grass that was fine before. And the leveling job under the sod was poorly done and now water pools there with rain and the sprinklers. Also company was fully paid and did not complete the last $200-300 of work that was agreed on. Multiple attempts have been made to contact this company and no response was given. Would not recommend.
