We wanted some extra Math help for our 10 year old son. He went and took an extremely long test (which he didn't have time to finish most parts) in which they based his results into a program they felt was right for him. From the beginning I felt that we were being oversold and I had a funny feeling we were getting ripped off. I expressed my desire for a focus on Math at the time but the counselor forced a much larger program (6 hours a week) on us which we had to pay for up front (over $5000). We were guilted into trying their program but I specifically asked if we could stop at any time and get our remaining money back which they assured us we would. We were also concerned about the 6 hours a week b/c it was summer and knew he would be missing class from time to time but they said not to worry if he missed class as he could make it up the next time. Well the program was basically reading and comprehension with little help in math. The math he did do was totally basic stuff he knew easily. We continued for a few months until we realized he just wasn't getting what he needed. My son said many sessions he was left to himself to read and did not receive any help at all. The only good part about the program was that my son had a good attitude and learned to work on his own. Very proud of him for that. It was the summer so there were many times he missed but we were sure to give them a heads up. They never said it was a problem. When we told them we did not want to continue they refunded the remaining balance but would not refund the classes he missed. We were so confused bc we were under the impression when he missed it would just be made up the next time. Instead they were charging us for all those missed classes and counting them against the total hours for which we paid for up front. Apparently one of the papers we signed in the beginning stated their policy that missed classes could be made up but on different days than his schedule. I guess we should blame ourselves for not reading the fine print but we had to sign a bunch of things that day and just took the counselor's word for it when she said we would be able to make up missed hours the next class. Even still upsetting is I would think someone would have said something as we accumulated $1000 in missed classes. We wouldn't have done that if we had known but they were happy to have him miss class and still collect the money. I complained to the supervisor and even the regional manager. The regional manager and I had a very good conversation and she seemed to understand our point of view. She said she was going to look into it and get back to me. It has been months now and I still have not heard back from the regional manager even though I have left countless messages on her voice mail. I am extremely disappointed in this place and their unprofessional methods. We just wanted to get some help for my son and we ended up getting ripped off. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. If you do try them be aware of what you are getting yourself into. I am sure they are better places for tutoring. We were naive and got taken advantage of. read more

My son came to Huntington learning Center in Brick town NJ because he was failing in 8th grade math and Language arts. Huntington learning Center assessed him extensively to see where his problems stem from. Once they found where my son was functioning academically and where his weaknesses were, they set up a program uniquely designed to address his needs.. The staff at the brick town center stepped right in to start filling in the gaps where my son had missed previous skills that he should have learned in 5th -7th grade in school. The staff are involved professionally as educators. They offer one on one assistance with my son. They teach and ensure that he masters the skills he "s working on. the service that we receive from this center goes far beyond anything i imagined we would find at a learning center. All staff are on one accord, and work toward a common goal, "to help my child to learn and to succeed". The staff listen to what concerns me as a parent. They also address the social/emotional developmental stages of the students at the center. The director of the center in Brick Town, Ms. Leeann Voss knows all the students and parents of the center, and she interacts personally and professionally with us all. it is because of Ms. Voss that i feel a sense of love for education, and genuine concern for the students. her leadership says " we are all in this together". Ms,. Voss makes time to meet with the students and the parents. She even gets involved with my son"s school, communicating with teachers and guidance counselor via meetings, emails, or phone calls. Ms. Voss is an advocate for my son as well as for all the students of the center. Ms. Voss makes sure we are all connected and working toward the same goal. As a result, my son is no longer a failing student!. He will be ready to go on to high school and carry the skills that Huntington has gifted him with into his future. I don't know what we would have done without Huntington learning Center of Brick Town. The entire staff are awesome! I commute 3 days a week over 50 miles just to get my son in the care of Huntington learning center. It feels like a part of a family working together for my son! I'm very satisfied. I highly recommend Huntington! My daughter had 10 hours of ACT instruction in reading and was able to raise her composite score from 26 to 28. Her ACT superstore went up to a 29! Her reading sub-score went from a 25 to a 31! Wow is all I can say... I wished she had started earlier to get more tutoring in before the test date. The staff at the center are friendly and welcoming. My daughter and I felt genuinely cared for by all. They did a great job! read more
