The tomatoes that I purchased this week are definitely "home grown" in a greenhouse. Same with the cucumbers. Very disappointing. $3.50 a lb for tomatoes and $2.00 per cucumber. Yes, prices have gone up. I will gladly pay premium for garden raised produce. Maybe they will toss the greenhouse veggies and get back to truly selling from their farm. Meanwhile, too many true veggie stands around the area. So I won't be back.

I am unsure what this has to do with a supermarket. I then walked into the actual market and was surprised at how much smaller it looks than in the website. I also discovered as I began exploring that its "international" designation is a bit overstated. It does have food from one or two European countries but its mostly hispanic and really mostly Mexican. Was i a bit disappointed? Yes. That said, i did find a lot of food that my culture also loves in here that overlaps. Firstly, i found actual green plantains! Usually in the supermarkets near my home they sell plantains but they are rarely green. To be able to fry some up and have tostones! Yes!!!!! I also found other products my family and I would love including plantain chips, malta, yuca, tamales, Jamaican patties, and croquettas. The croquettas were of the frozen variety and sadly only in chicken, i prefer ham. I was also very happy when I found Pineapple Nectar for my mom. She loves the stuff and hasn't had any since we moved! So i did end up buying quite a bit when I came here and i will likely come back again.
