I'm giving them two stars only because I harvested a bull elk on my third day and I got to hunt with who I think is there best guide Scott. Outside of that it was a bit of a joke. Jt had over booked his third season and did not have enough room for his hunters. Me and another hunter were sent down the mountain on are first day and stayed in this dump of a ranch house for two days that had rats the size of small cats living in it and kept us up all night running around on us while we tried to sleep at night, not cool. On top of that it was my guides first time ever guiding in what is considered a trophy unit for Colorado that took me 13 years to draw which I wished I knew ahead of time. He complained about having to drive his own vehicle and would not go more then a mile or two from the ranch house to find some bigger bulls. We had seen elk for the first two days but not what I was looking for which my guide numerous times tried to get me to shoot. On the second day my guide wanted to quite on me in the morning because of the rats I talked him into going out that morning and hunting and then we would figure out are sleeping situation for that night. We ended up moving four hours back up to the main camp which messed up my afternoon hunt for that day. When we got back to the main camp at night time my guide finally quit on me and loaded his stuff up and left the main camp before Jt got back never to be seen again also not cool. Back at the main camp there was no room for me in any of the tents so thanks to Cody W. I was able to stay in his cabin (that was nice thank god) 15 min. down the road. I told myself that night I'm going to shoot the first bull I see big or small pack my stuff up and get the heck out of this camp never go guided again. The next morning I get teamed up with Scott who was awesome! to hunt with. We go out and jump two cows on are way in then spot a bull at first light but could not tell how big he was and ended up losing sight of him. So we headed father down the drainage only to find another bull which I ended up shooting I figured he scored about 270" to 280" 6X6. I look back at it now and wonder if I would have been teamed up with Scott at first to begin with the rating of this hunt could of been different and quality of bull elk that I saw could have been better knowing Scott's years of experience as a guide. On another note the food was not all that good and never was hot by the time I eat considering what I paid ($5500) for this hunt. I think Jt and Allout have gotten more noticed because of his youtube videos and his first few years running Allout and needs to find away to get back to that going forward. It would have been nice to have gotten a follow up phone call from Jt in regards to my hunt and maybe even a bit of a refund of some money considering what happened which he never did. But I guess I was successful in the end with taking an elk which I could have done on my own. I'm sure other hunters experiences are different then mine and were Allout for them but mine sure wasn't. Knowing what I know now if I ever get a chance to hunt this unit again I would do my own camp and make sure I have an atv to get me down some of the roads as they are pretty gnarly. If you ever get a chance to hunt this unit and chose to go with Allout I hope your experience turns out better then mine did.

I have blocked at least 40-50 different email addresses from them over the past year and I continue to receive emails from new addresses they create to get past my blocks. I have threatened them and it hasn't changed a thing. My warning is real despite any comment they make in response.

This year we booked whitetail hunts with him. He did an great job finding a big deer with split G2's, then put me in the right spot to get him and I missed.........painful but my fault! I have hunted from Argentina to Africa. Based on my experience I would say that La Garita did a good job finding the animals and putting me on them. On both hunts I had memorable experiences, saw trophy quality animals, and had great opportunities to harvest. I am planning to book with them again this coming year. I hunted with both Mike and Greg. They were friendly and knowledgeable and put me on the animals. The only compliant that I have is that I missed and I can't blame that on them. --Rich

My First Elk Hunt--And I'm Spoiled for Life!…read more As a native Arkansas boy who grew up chasing ducks and whitetails, I had no idea what I was getting into with my first elk hunt. But Ivory & Antler Outfitters took this 62-year-old rookie and put me on a beautiful 5x5 bull! Earl and his team are absolute masters of their craft. Earl, Ryan, and Caleb's deep knowledge of the land, terrain, and elk movement is nothing short of amazing. If you could somehow mix a pit bull with a mountain goat and throw in the loyalty of a good lab, you'd have the Ivory & Antler crew. They not only made it their personal mission to give each guest the absolute best chance to harvest an elk--they also took the time to educate us about the habits and patterns of these incredible animals. I had no idea that Rand, Colorado is a wintering ground for elk from a 50-100 mile radius. Every year, these animals migrate from their spring and summer range to settle in and around Rand for the winter--just like they've done for thousands of years! If you've never hunted this part of the world, get ready. Along with elk, you're likely to see moose, black bear, mule deer, and antelope. Dorothy, you ain't in Kansas anymore when you sign up with Ivory & Antler Outfitters! Shout out to Larry--the amazing chef. If you want for anything while you're staying at the Ivory & Antler lodge, it's your own fault. Larry lives to cook, serve, and make sure you're never without some of the best food you've ever eaten. This review is a reflection of the hunting experience itself. We had booked a five day September bow hunt for elk at the peak of the rut. It was misrepresented as a hunt on private land where we could assume large numbers of un-pressured animals that hadn't already been hunted. By the end of day 2 we knew that we had been mislead. We spent large amounts of time hunting public land where elk and already been pressured by countless hunters. The private land we did hunt held very few elk. And we were simply trading locations each day with the other members of our hunting party, following each other into locations where others had just hunted the day before. There was clearly not enough private ground for our group of five to hunt, much less groups following us in after we left. No one should spend thousands of dollars to spend half their time hunting public land where anyone can access. Or private land that's already been over hunted. Not a single hunter in our party of five was given a single shot opportunity the entire week, and that included a muzzleloader hunter. My advice is do your homework before giving an outfitter thousands of your hard earned dollars. Ask for references of previous hunters and don't just talk to the outfitter himself. Also notice there is no google reviews. Just facebook reviews that can be deleted by owner if negative. We found out afterward not a single bow hunter from the previous year had gotten an elk with this outfitter either. In 5 days of hunting I saw 1 elk and that was on another outfitters property that we could not hunt. Very disappointing week
