Today was especially special with 65-degree sunny weather in February, which felt like a gift. The trails were peaceful, the scenery was gorgeous, and we saw so much wildlife throughout our walk. I wanted to leave a review specifically for birthday parties since I didn't see much about them, and this place deserves the recognition! The party was perfect for both kids and adults, with children ranging from ages 4-9. It started with a 15-minute puppet show about local wildlife that was adorable and honestly hilarious, the staff made sure to keep the parents entertained too! The staff were so funny, informative, and great with the kids. You also get a large party room for two hours with at least six large tables, seating for around 40-50 people, plenty of counter space for food and decorations, plus a refrigerator and microwave, which was super convenient. Another highlight was the guided 0.7-mile walk around the wetlands to explore the area and learn about local wildlife. Our tour guide, I believe her name was Marissa, was absolutely wonderful with the kids! We let everyone explore the nature center as they arrived, then did the puppet show, wetlands walk, food and cake, and finished with more exploring. Everything flowed perfectly! Overall, it was such a fun, unique, and educational birthday experience. The staff were amazing, the price was great, and both the kids and adults that attended all loved it. I highly recommend Fountain Creek Nature Center for birthday parties and just for a day of exploring it's beautiful there! We absolutely love this place!

I will admit I was quite spoiled from a river trail we use to run in Georgia along the Chattahoochee. This certainly is not that. While I was able to spot several beautiful birds (a blue heron and snowy egret) the trail itself felt desolate which I typically enjoy but was rather bored of out here. A few points felt a wee bit sketch. Graffiti, abandoned shopping carts, homeless encampments, lots of trash in the river (which was flowing more along the lines of a creek than a river) but all in all the trail is in good condition. For a flat out and back this trail serves its purpose but I'm certain there are more picturesque trails for us to find.

This is the best fly shop I have ever been in...and I've been to a lot of them over the years…read more Really. Mike, who runs the shop, is awesome, and so are the guides Dave and Ian. They are focused on customer service more than any other fly shop I've visited. My experience was fantastic! While planning a visit to Colorado, I inquired about a guided trip to the "dream stream" via email. Mike responded and we started up an email conversation about what I was hoping to do. I explained that I was visiting a friend who lives in Colorado and that my friend had never fished at all let alone fly fished. He was a total newbie. Mike said that he had several guides who would be perfect for us. It turns out that he was spot on. We booked two half-day trips, back-to-back. I didn't bring any equipment and my friend of course had no equipment, so the shop supplied us with everything we needed from waders to rods and reels. The day before our first day on the river, we stopped by the shop and met Mike and Ian (who would be our guide the following day). Almost immediately, I knew that I had picked the right shop. We got fitted, bought licenses (and a lot of clothing that was on sale), and coordinated the following day's trip. Everybody was super easy going and pleasant. This was a good sign! The following day, we met our guide and followed him to the river (in separate vehicles). Since we had done all of the prep and "paperwork" the previous day, we made good time to the stream. I was stunned when we got there; nobody else was there! With everything I had heard about the "dream stream" being so crowded, I was as happy as I was surprised. Ian (our guide) was super patient. He even helped my friend get his waders on. (My friend had never worn waders.) When we hit the water, he patiently gave both of us some instruction on what to expect and how to fish the river. I hit the stream while Ian taught my friend how to cast and mend, etc. Within 30 minutes of us actually starting fishing, my friend hooked and landed his first fish ever, a small brown trout. Wow! A short time later, I landed one too. We went on to have a fantastic day on the river even though we had to cut the day short due to extremely high winds. The following day, we had another guide, Dave. We met him at the river. He brought all of the equipment with him. The weather was gorgeous and the fishing was hot. We got a decent number of fish on the hook and landed a good percentage of them. We caught browns and rainbows. It was AWESOME! Dave was an outstanding guide! I'll definitely book a trip with South Platte Fly Shop the next time I go to Colorado. I highly, highly recommend checking out the shop and booking a trip with them. The shop and guides with whom we fished are top notch! A personal note: I have fished with guides at least 35 or 40 times in various places and out of various shops and outfitters in several states. I have enough experience with guides that I know a good guide when I fish with him or her. One more note: currently, there is a negative review about an employee. I inquired about it and was told that the employee mentioned in the review is no longer employed by the shop, so don't let that review put you off from this shop.

Farish is accesssible from Rampart. Or you can venture to Rampart via Rainbow Gulch. No matter how you choose to cruise the trail (single track via bike - clockwise or hike - counterclockwise) - you won't be disappointed in your trip :)

This was an excellent place to go for a run alone while feeling safe and still being immersed in nature. On a Friday morning there were plenty of people walking around which made me feel safe but not over crowded. I saw ducks, turtles, and lots of birds. People were paddle boarding and kayaking. It is close to neighborhoods where you could potentially extend your run for mileage as the lake loop is about one mile around. I saw people reading and relaxing on a blanket in the grass and having professional photos taken, a great park for many activities!

We love long walks and if you want to loop this several times you can get in a little bit of mileage but it's only about 1 mile around. I can definitely see us running the neighborhood and tossing in a bunch of laps here. We jokingly said we'd train for our April ultra here, hahaha - totally not running over 30 loops, no matter how many times we changed the direction. Also fairly certain we could run a short ultra tomorrow morning if we had a decent dinner before bed. It is however, a great option for training since there's a restroom and parking lot - if you're training for a shorter distance. The weather was stunning (as it had snowed over night and into the early morning) and only a couple of joggers were out. If you appreciate peaceful and calm spaces beside bodies of water, this is the neighborhood gem of a park that you'll be grateful to spend time at.
