There are three things I love about The Village Inn…read more 1) The bottom of the B&B is a pub. A classic, warm, well stocked pub with a roaring fire. Bliss. 2) They actively encourage people to bring their dogs in. Which means you're surrounded by adorable puppies while you sip your drink. What's not to love? 3) They go out of their way to provide good customer service. For example, the barman rang up the wholesaler and ordered four steaks when we mentioned, after a few drinks, we quite fancied one the next night. The impressive bit? It was 1.30am. Legend. This is my second stay at The Village Inn in Lynmouth, and we loved it so much that we've already booked our next visit. Located on the harbour, it offers comfortable rooms with ensuites, which is ideal for a group of us or a couple looking for a cosy getaway. The only downside (although it's probably an advantage for most people wanting a break) is that signal and wi-fi is virtually non-existent.

The rest of my party had fillet steaks, cod wrapped in bacon and homemade steak and ale pie all of which were very good. The dessert menu included foxy chocolate fondue and local ice creams but we were too full. The cheese board selection was local and unusual. Very popular in the summer and at weekends so worth booking.

On a warmer day we might have enjoyed sitting outside in their quaint little beer garden, but it was the perfect moment to bag a table by the fire. Top marks for a menu that takes vegetarians seriously and gives us plenty of tasty options and glowing praise too for the steaks that were cooked to perfection and for the excellent the cod & chips in Dougs special batter. OK the ladies loos had seen very much better days, but I'll gloss over the details since everything else was terrific. Well worth a visit if you're in Tenby and looking for a budget friendly eaterie.

Food is always freshly cooked - and plentiful. Service, however, can sometimes be very slow on busy days, so factor this in. But of all the pubs to eat in in Tenby, this is easily the best.
