My husband and I have nothing but praise for the staff and the facility itself. We have extreme appreciation for Mr. T who was my husband's primary care giver. He always went above and beyond in his care for Ed. Ed was very disabled when he entered Hunterdon Care Center and Mr. T overcame any obstacle. Thank you Mr. T. Job well done! Hunterdon Care Center has been an outstanding rehabilitation facility for my Mom. When my Mom was admitted, she was instantly made to feel comfortable and at ease by LRN Steve. Steve was unbelievably good at easing the anxiety and uncertainty of moving to a new physical living facility. He made sure that all of my Mom's questions and concerns were addressed and while at the same time clarifying all prescription records, health records, admitting paperwork, etc. Steve left me with an initial very positive impression of HCC. During admission, Steve mentioned that Taheesha would soon be in to see Mom and that Taheesha is an expert at making patients feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Taheesha Jackson has been a truly amazing person and care giver to my Mom. She truly cares about people and works tirelessly to help patients adjust to their new surroundings and recover as quickly as they can. Taheesha is an extremely kind person. She encourages my Mom and her roommate to keep trying, to be patient, and to celebrate when things go well. Taheesha makes my Mom laugh. My Mom is really blessed to have Taheesha caring for her. Taheesha and the entire HCC Caregiving Staff have made my Mom's rehab experience transcendent. There are many excellent nurses, caregivers, physical therapists in Hunterdon Care Center. Had or should I say tried to have a conversation with Maryann in admissions and billing. She had such and attitude and kept speaking over me. I pointed out that I didn't appreciate how she was speaking to me or her tone. She then proceeded to gaslight me and say she wasn't. She wasn't offering any help with my situation and kept talking over and scolding me as if It was my fault. I'd give -10 stars. Rude! read more

My Dad was admitted in Jan. 2023 bc he keep falling and could no longer get around enough due to prior falls and the start of Dementia. I visited him weekly in addition to my brother's visits. There were never enough aids there to care for him and he had been receiving PT a few times per week which they stopped for no reason. In addition, many of his belongings were constantly "missing" for no apparent reason. I had purchased 2 pairs of designer pajama bottoms and put them in his drawer. Unfortunately, I had left the tags on them and they were stolen several weeks later right out of his drawer. It's apparent that the aids or other staff members just knew when to show up. On June 5th, 2025, I received a voicemail that my dad was not doing well and they were running tests on him. He tested positive for Covid. When I visited him on June 14, I expected him to be back to normal. Instead, he had looked like he was about to die and was filthy and smelled. The nurse on duty, whom we had never met, insisted he was "fine" and it was probably from the Covid, which would have been gone by then. She refused to give me her name, which I still don't know bc she was trying to cover up this tragedy and knew she was responsible. It took me and my daughter at least 5 hours to have her agree to call 911. She had given him Tylenol; however an hour later when the paramedics arrived his temperature was 102. In addition, as a result of complete neglect and abuse, nobody had changed his diaper for 5 days. When he arrived at the hospital his oxygen level was 82 (the nurse refused to check his oxygen at HCC), and his blood pressure was 70/30. He had been immediately diagnosed with a SEVERE UTI , which the nurses said they had never seen a UTI that severe in all their years of practice. My Dad has about 3 days to live as a result of becoming septic from the UTI. The remainder of his life was taken from him by Hunterdon Care Center. I would sit outside with him and spend quality time with him every time I visited and he had been fine. He was able to get around with a walker and wheelchair prior to this completely unnecessary tragedy. Lastly, he had been incorrectly diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which he did not have and he was treated with Sinemet, which he did not need. My Dad's hands had shaken slightly for many years and he was never diagnosed with Parkinson's until an unqualified Doctor decided he had Parkinson's disease. Hunterdon Care Center is a horrible place and should be shut down . They are understaffed, mismanaged and I have overheard many times "it's not my job, I'm not doing it. On June 14th, it took an aid over half an hour with the door shut when she found out the paramedics were coming and then sprayed the room heavily with perfume. She came out and said "IT STINKS IN THERE". Someone needs to stop the abuse and neglect that is occurring at Hunterdon Care Center as well as any other nursing homes where this abuse and neglect occurs. It is completely INHUMANE and the people responsible for this abuse and neglect must be stopped and held accountable. People need to speak up or this unjust money mongering business will just continue. I'm beyond sad and angry and I realize that the reality is that nobody will be held accountable for this happening. When I called to find out the nurses name that was on duty, I was told I could not have that information. I can only imagine what else is being covered up there and there should be a complete and thorough investigation at this facility. Please don't ever send a family member that you care about in the least bit to this despicable place. I gave this rating a 1 only because I was unable to indicate negative stars. read more

Don't believe anything Michal says. When we were there I spoke with him about the situation and he was non responsive. Truly he does not care - only the bottom line is what he cares about. It took him 8 months to respond to the complaints. He is now writing the same response to every complaint and thinks it makes it all better... DON'T GO THERE if you want your loved one to be cared for and you want to sleep knowing that they are in a good, safe place to get better. read more

I was there from November 15th to December 5th. A few of the nighttime aides were not very good. Rung the buzzer and, depending on who was on, they might help. Sometimes, there was no one in that area. Lynn, a nurse who works days, was a real blessing. The physical therapists were great. Food was okay most of the time. I hope that they hire better aides to replace the not so good ones. read more

The building is fastidiously clean. There aren't any odors you might expect when you enter the lobby or on the residential floor. The physical therapy staff is attentive and the results for my 90 year old Mom after two weeks in rehab for a fractured pelvis where amazing. Gwen, one of the aides on the evening staff, was such a caring and helpful person, as was Lynn,the daytime nurse. The checkin protocols fir visitors were a bit onerous, but that can be understood because of Covid. read more

My brother was admitted to this facility Dec 5, 2022. He was originally in Autumn Lake Nursing Home, Berkeley Heights, N 22+ years. HCC was closer to the family, so made visiting more convenient. The care for my brother was horrendous. I visited at 1:30 and he was still in his diaper from night before and he was still in his bedclothes and his bottom sheet had come off and he was partially laying on a bare mattress. My brother is unable to walk or feed himself, so he is at the mercy of his caregivers. A container of milk was spilled on the table as someone must have left it for him to drink. As I stated previously, my brother is unable to feed himself. When I asked him if he had breakfast and lunch, he nodded yes. He does not communicate well. An aide heard me questioning him and she said they were short staffed. l went again a few days later and found the same conditions. 2:00 and still in bed. I asked again when he would be dressed and up and was told they are short staffed. I asked if he gets showered and was told that since he cannot stand, they must do sponge baths in bed. At his prior location, that facility has a special chair in the shower for people like him. My family and I were so disgusted by his care, or should I say lack of care, that we had him transferred out of there and he is back at the best nursing home - Autumn Lake Nursing Home. I have to say that 10+ years ago, my husband's aunt was in HCC and we never had a problem with cleanliness or her being in bed for long periods; we were happy with her care. I don't know what has happened since then, but I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

This care center has two different locations for physical therapy. I am referring to more of the long-term acute therapy Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here. When family was around the patient seem to get the attention that they needed when pressing the button or of course when The state was in the building doing an inspection. However when the patient was alone it took forever for either a nurse to come in when their button was pressed. They have a couple of good nurses and just hope you get them. They are Lynn and sherwin. The aids are nasty with patients with the exception of one they call T. The place is very clean however not updated. read more

My mother is a resident of Hunterdon Care Center. She started in rehab and is now in long-term care. While there are many caring and special individuals who work there, one is so exceptional that I must write about her. "T" is what she is called and everyone knows her for her outgoing personality. She is extra special. She will go out of her way to help in any way she can. T is all about the residents. It amazes me that she has so much love to give to those who come in as strangers. She still visits my mother frequently even though T works in a different wing. If you or a relative find yourself in need of a nursing home, pray that T gets assigned to you or your loved one. You will never forget her. read more

Generally an ok place. The physical therapy room and the hallways are clean and odor free. The patient rooms are fairly adequate, the furniture a little old. The bathrooms ok, staff doesn't exactly clean them thoroughly. The staff is mixed, and I'm not talking about race, but attitudes. The physical therapist do a great job, and have a lot of patience. Their supervisor is a bit snotty, but I guess this goes with the rank. The nurses are good, too, and very conscientious. The aids, however, are a different story. They lack compassion, operate in only two gears, slow and very slow. They put as little effort into the job as they can get away with. One can call them and wait up to 15 minutes until they show up to help the patients. A couple of them in particular have an attitude, and it's obvious that they don't like doing this job. To me they all seem to have come from one place, and they probably live in the same neighborhood. The food is mediocre at best. While it's a decent enough place, it is not a great one. read more
