So finally, the stars aligned on a random Monday and thank God cause what a great experience! This place use to be a gas station, believe it or not, and the bartender knew so much about the history.He was an absolute delight to chat with. I believe his name was Tyler, and he knew my friend and all about his family and had great stories about the town. The people sitting next to us joined in the conversation as well. This place is not only beautiful but very welcoming with an instant relaxed and classy vibe that is just my style. I ended up with an espresso martini and the flavors he added gave it a wonderful fall flavor as well as a light chocolate topping that did not overtake the espresso. That being said, the piano player and his two guys were EXCEPTIONAL, never breaking stride the entire time we were there and keeping the patrons engaged. They made our night. My goal was to drive to Fredericksburg on Friday, park the car, and not drive it again until we were ready to leave town Monday morning. Mission accomplished. Strengths: Location. I know I already said that, but it is worth repeating. The lowest price option for our stay, room 207 is small, but clean and comfortable. Queen sized bed in this room is very cozy. We slept like babies. Breakfast was decent. In-room coffee maker is a must for us, and they gladly gave us extra coffee upon request. Balcony overlooking Main Street is a huge plus; we enjoyed more than one glass of Texas wine there. Opportunities: We only saw our room, and it could use some TLC aesthetically. The large jacuzzi tub was awkward to shower in; we'd prefer a walk-in shower. Pool appeared a bit dirty. Parking is sparse. Exterior needs some TLC. Main Street carries traffic passing through town on US 290 and US 87. So there is some road noise. Our room is in the back of the building, so while we heard the traffic at times, it did not keep us from enjoying a comfortable night's sleep. Why four stars? Because this is our go-to home-away-from-home in Fredericksburg. And did I mention the perfect location? Yes. Yes, I did.

My husband booked without reading the terms (due to our rush and booked 2 rooms expecting more family to be coming with us). We ended up not needing a room and saw that we would have had to pay atleast a nights stay for the late cancelation. The man at the front desk waved the fee and was nothing but helpful through our entire stay. Our dogs enjoyed the stay as well. He also ended up refunding us the 4th night we ended up not using as well as refunding us the state taxes that were waved for evacuees. Great stay!

It's just gorgeous, take my word. The only negative is that it must have been ages since anyone had used the jets in the tub - because the first night they kicked out a bunch of black goo :( And, there is a drain in the tub getting a bit worse for wear. But, it fits two large people and was very comfy :) One great thing about the stone floors is they are slip-proof. The main room is also lovely, very spacious, with two comfy armchairs for relaxing in and a comfortable king sized bed. I loved the colors and textures on the walls and floor. My only minor quibble here is that the upholstery and bedspread were looking a bit worn -- I know this is a 'period' cabin so I like the antique wood and brass furniture -- but when it comes to fabrics...I like them newer. Call me spoiled. That said, this place was lovely and we very much enjoyed the peace, quiet, privacy. The only reason I'm not rounding up to five stars is expectations others would have from a "five star" residence which is a bit more 'luxury' than 'antique' - though this was an experience I would not have traded away for a five star modern suite somewhere. Oh yeah - they have wifi included. Sometimes it was a little weak, but it mostly worked and got the job done (since some of us can't ever be 100% disconnected from our jobs, boo!) I liked that our cabin did not have a television, though some people might have an issue with that... but with a two person hot tub I would hope you could find something better to do!

Crazy chandelier made out of antlers. Barbed wire as tasteful decoration on the ceiling. Bathroom is bigger than many living rooms. Huge jacuzzi in it that we loved. Outdoor courtyard could fit 50 people, or, in our case, 2. We had drinks there in the evening and coffee in the morning. There's a lovely hammock. It's walking distance to many restaurants, bars, and music venues. The only thing that was a little odd, but sort of quaint at the same time was the fact that when the wind blows in the fall, and the pecans fall on the roof, it's very loud because it's a tin roof. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. (Note: when searching for a b and b in Frederickburg, be aware that there are over 300 to choose from and many of them have heart-shaped hot tubs and super tacky pink quilts on teh beds. This is much more tasteful than the ones we saw after an hour of research. Also, many of them require two-night stays and this one allows a one-night stay both during the week and on the weekend.)

We booked Cottongin several months in advance for our 10-year anniversary. We were spending the…read moreweekend in Fredericksburg, planned to renew our vows at Enchanted Rock, and had winery tours planned. We were genuinely excited about the trip and the property. Unfortunately, Texas was hit with torrential rain and a flash flood watch, flights were being canceled, and the Hill Country was experiencing significant flooding. Given the circumstances, we made the difficult decision that it was not safe for us to travel. We contacted Cottongin to ask if they would work with us on a refund, partial refund, or even a rain check. We would have gladly accepted a rain check and returned in the spring. Instead, we were told there would be no refund, partial refund, or rescheduling and that we should have purchased travel insurance. We lost $1,000 on this reservation and received absolutely nothing in return. Another couple traveling with us also lost $1,000. We understand that cancellation policies exist, but we were disappointed that there was zero flexibility given the extreme weather conditions and the fact that we were asking to reschedule--not simply walking away from the reservation. We would have happily returned to Fredericksburg and stayed at Cottongin under different circumstances. Unfortunately, their decision has changed where we will stay in the future. We still plan to return to Fredericksburg in the spring, but we will be staying at a different property.
