I reviewed and updated My Chart and checked in online, so I didn't have to do it in the office; I only had to pay my co-pay. I had an address correction on My Chart, and after that was done, I waited only a few minutes before I was called back for my appointment with Dr Adrien DiVittorio. After taking my weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, the nurse asked the usual questions about changes in medications and issues I've had since my last visit. After summarizing what I needed to discuss with Dr. DiVittorio, I waited until he arrived. Dr. DiVittorio had already reviewed My Chart updates and the summary, so we got right to him asking questions and changing medication to get better results. I was given a sample inhaler to start on and will follow up with the nurse practitioner in four months to see how I do on the new regimen. I like how Diagnostic and Medical Clinic and Dr. Adrien DiVittorio's Office work. Their system is very efficient. The time you have with the doctor is the limitation Medicare gives him, not what the doctor chooses to provide you with.

After 3 weeks of increasing and adding medications as prescribed by my NC neurologist I went to USA University Hospital ER and was subsequently admitted for 4 nights for pain control. At this time I made the decision to have Microvascular Decompression via keyhole (2 cm) craniotomy with Dr Jai Thakur. Best decision EVER! I did not realize how much of my quality of life was gone; either through medication side effects, TN diagnosis, or avoiding TN flares. I am only a week post op and my greatest risk currently is incisional infection which is minimal at this time. I have several rupture cervical discs which has made recovery a bit more challenging but once this issue was addressed in addition to some occasional incisional pain, I have been basically pain free!! For the first time in 14 years! As a retired ICU RN from a 1,000+ bed hospital in NC, I became apprehensive about several additional tests to verify information that initially delayed surgery for more than 24 hours. But then I realized I had to respect and appreciate the thoroughness Dr Thakur and his team displayed. I feel so good that I want to initiate conversations about cervical ruptured disc repair!! They said he does not sign PA's for this particular type of medication. Does he not feel comfortable enough to sign a PA? If so, why does he feel comfortable enough to prescribe it? If this is not his specialty, why was my husband not referred to a doctor who could better help with his treatment? I am confused about this. I am concerned about this. And I still cannot get a straight answer. That is not a trusting relationship between Dr and patient, so we will not be returning to Dr. Jacob Webster.
