WHEN YOU TRY TO DO BUSINESS, ALL THEY WANT IS PLAY GAMES.
Look, it's like this. Hunt Bros Window Tinting has two locations: (1) the Bait shop in a nicer part of town near North Decatur to lure in the quality customers, (2) the HQ, where business is conducted, is in the hood off of Candler Road in far east Atlanta.
I have always been an avid supporter of local small businesses, even in questionable "up and coming" communities because I believe everyone should receive a fair chance, but this place is to be avoided at all costs!
This place is headed by a Bill Cosby looking character in his late 50s along with wife and rest of his relatives. Cosby is the flamboyant cuttlefish of the bunch, always talking loud and lecturing the juniors of the family while working. Only him and his nephew, a short man around 5' do the tint jobs; rest play supporting roles, possibly thinking about expanding their business.
Immediately after tinting my car, I spotted several concerns to the films they applied, but was assured these would go away in 72 hours, if persist, come back at anytime for repairs with their 1 year warranty policy followed by several firm handshakes.
When the concerns persisted, new ones arose. Bubbles, dusts, hairs, ripped tints all appeared. With the thought of not over burdening a small business, I purposefully chosen a slow week day to revisit the shop for repairs. Upon arrival, the business was empty, people sitting on their hands, smoking, lingering... Seeing me arriving, Cosby quickly turned around and walked away. I was able to grab his nephew shortly after to show him the problems. His answer was, "we need to set for an appointment for repairs." Even when they had nothing else to do that day!
Appointment was Arranged by Them for a week later: Monday at 9:00AM (this alone aroused suspicion because no business I dealt with ever said, "we're only available at 9:00am first day of the week, anytime before or after are all fully booked."). There I was at 9:00... doors closed, lights off, no personnel on site except... for the substance abused, mentally ill crowds coming out of the woodwork from the wooded area behind Hunt Bros Window Tinting! One after another walking out like zombies loitering, squandering in the parking lot. It was close to an hour later someone finally came to work, and even then I couldn't be helped because the head honcho doesn't come until one hour more.
When I was finally able to speak with Cosby, he wildly claimed I couldn't be helped because the decision maker isn't on site and he's merely an employee! Even if he was the man in charge, I still couldn't be helped because, by his claim, my tint was applied by his nephew, only the nephew can do my repairs, the same person arranged for my appointment was conveniently not coming this day; however, both Cosby and nephew worked on my car. Being assertive as I am, he caved in and begun repairs for some minor concerns, botched one at that, rest need to set for yet another appointment!
There I was again for the second appointment, learning from first lesson, I came around noon with everyone present. This time with a different face shown to me with friendly greets, how I shouldn't be worried because they're good people, all my concerns will be dealt with this day ONLY to be set aside to WAIT with Cosby on yet another disappearing act! Until much later, his wife appeared out of the blue asking, "Why are you here? Didn't they tell you they can't help you today? Our steamer is sent to the repair shop, I can't say for sure when it will be fixed. You don't need to be here. We'll call you when we have the tools ready." As if my Appointment was there to hinder their business. And that's the last I heard from them.
2 Timothy 3 speaks of terrible times in the last days when people become unholy, lovers of money, treacherous, rash, lovers of pleasure rather than God. 2 Timothy 3 is one of the posters they proudly display inside their shop along with We Specialize in Customer Satisfaction. To unsuspecting customers, pay special attention to business practices with pretension! And high praising internet reviews!
They charged $150 for the job, though I overheard them quoting lower to others. I'm not the type of person who would bicker over few dollars difference if the job is done right, and treated with respect. Yes, they use proper manners when a customer's there to give them money, but sadly, when it's time to undo their incompetence, customer is greeted with something else. For $80 you can get 100 feet worth of quality tint off of eBay and do the type of job they do yourself, while learning a trade to compete with businesses accustomed to foul play! read more
