Satisfying my need to eat a Whopper while traveling, this Hungry Jack's restaurant in the Circular Quay area of Sydney, serves up the classics from the Burger King menu. Just ordered a regular whopper with no modifications, and it was OK.
When Burger King tried to expand into the Australia market, their name had already been trademarked. Thus a name I am used to being associated with instant mashed potatoes in the States, became the moniker for the 2nd largest burger restaurant in the world, at least in Australia.
This location is right outside of the entrance/exit from the Quay light rail station. It was mid-morning, but the place was surprisingly busy, with a lot of people waiting for their order. One must first order/pay through a set of kiosks, and payment was easy using a no-foreign-transaction fee credit card. My name soon appeared on the board as pending, but just disappeared completely without appearing on the 'Ready' portion. But other people who had ordered before me were still waiting, so figured it was a glitch...and it was. The food did come out in order, and I took it back to a separate building with a small area for dine-in. The Whopper cost $9.20 Australian dollars, and it tasted like a Whopper with all the ingredients, though in small quantities (there was no way to customize your whopper via that kiosk, so 'Have It Your Way' doesn't seem to be the slogan here) read more
