The restaurant itself comes across as worn and tired. Exterior and interior. However it was genuine Greek decor as you might expect inside. We went during the dinner hour on a Sunday evening on a long weekend and it was a busy place frequented by many regulars which speaks of both the atmosphere and the food. Nevertheless my wife and I both thought it was somewhat pricey. And there was a genuine fly in the ointment as a fly continued to fly around our food throughout our meal, landing at times which was somewhat distracting.

We were surprised to have such a good meal in the midst of McD, Subway, etc. Smitty's is a no brainer compared to the alternatives. Since it's situated on the Canada 1 highway between a couple very long stretches of road, and right at the junction North of Brandon, it will never close. It will always have business from folks on the move, and it's unlikely they will ever get the feedback they need to improve. I do understand that it's an extremely busy spot so keeping up with demand probably adds significantly to the issues, but in the service industry, that's no excuse. Staff are rather grumpy, and there is always some kind of small mistake with the majority of my orders. It's possible that I am the unusual case that orders more than just coffee, but it's nothing too complicated. Here are the types of small errors: the wrong flavour of parfait, the wrong kind of bagel, coffee instead of tea. They are all small, but since it happens regularly, it really encourages me to take the extra time and stop somewhere else before a long road trip.
