On Wednesdays and Saturdays, they have a farmers market and so we decided to check it out. It was fantastic! If you arrive to Leiden Centraal,, it is maybe a five minute walk to where the market is held, just look it up on Google. Once we had walked around for a while, we decided it was time for some lunch and wanted to have lunch by the canal. Annie's was the perfect spot as you walked down the steps and the tables are literally right on the canal. I ordered the tuna sandwich and it was absolutely fantastic, a perfect blend of tuna, red onion, and other stuff I cannot describe, but it was fabulous. Husband had the chicken satay and he was very happy with his meal as well. We each had one drink and the total was approximately €40 Definitely recommend. Don't be in a hurry. Just enjoy!

It's romantic and full of old wood, fireplaces, and cozy places to grab a warm bite and a cold beer. We were greeted by the owners, who were so nice to us. It felt like we were eating at an Aunt and Uncle's house. The chef popped back into the kitchen and started cooking. We had a delicious, savory soup with sausage. Ever get happy over soup? I rarely do, but this soup had that extra something that makes you realize that there's an art to it. So, so good. I loved meeting these owners and I'm so happy we came by here on a whim. Stop in here for a something comforting, settle in and take in what it's like to be in this town, in this country. Enjoy the warmth of the fire and the hosts. Tables are put very close so need some adjustments with how you can fit your body accordingly , but it is very cozy. I liked it. We drank two beers and enjoyed vegetarian bitterballen with it. Their menu has a lot of options to select from which is great and a reason for multiple visits. Anywho, bitterballen was good. As per beer, my partner chose De Koninck Bolleke and I went for Sijf's Eigen. We both loved our own choices and couldn't agree on which was better! I loved Eigen's smell and the way the bitterness of the beer slowly became sweeter. Definitely going for more in coming days. De Koninck Bolleke has a 'jumping' feel to it. I could smell barley (hop, malt) and sensation of bubbles in your tongue like when we drink soda was refreshing. But I still preferred Eigen. Recommended! (You might have to wait a little longer for the service, though!)
