I was excited to use a local pharmacy that has free delivery, but unfortunately, the one time I tried them was bad enough I don't want to attempt a second time.
Background: I had a bout of severe bronchitis that would not clear up; I was literally choking and gasping for breath when I went back to the doctor. I have not been that ill in decades, maybe ever.
I called Hume before my appointment, letting them know I would be sending over a prescription shortly, and I gave them my insurance and contact info. They asked if I wanted delivery; I said if I could get my meds the same day, sure. I live right down the street, so they said it would be no problem. I was prescribed an asthma inhaler and I waited at home for the delivery.
No delivery came. I waited until noon the next day and still nothing. I called the pharmacy to see if I'd missed the delivery. Nope, they just hadn't sent it out yet, "but it was on the list." I told them I really needed the meds, they again checked and saw I live right down the street, and said they'd be there shortly. I called back over an hour later and the meds hadn't even gone out for delivery. There was also something about copay (which was never mentioned before). I told them I'd be up in less than five minutes to pick up.
When I asked what a reasonable time to wait for their deliveries was, they could not give me one. I said, "Is 24 hours reasonable and normal for Hume," and they replied, "We don't like to give people times like that, because you never know." Okay, 1) the meds were serious meds, not like, Viagra or something. It's freaking ASTHMA medicine. 2) If deliveries are for refills you call in several days before, fine. TELL ME THAT. Otherwise, tell me to come in and pick up if I need my meds ASAP. I can't intuitively know when a delivery is just slow or something has gone wrong and I need to call in. 3) If you need information from me in order to deliver the meds, TELL ME. How am I supposed to know you're waiting on copay or something else from me if you don't tell me? I called Hume three times and this wasn't mentioned until the third call!
Maybe they're a great pharmacy, but I still don't understand just how their delivery system is supposed to work and I can't wait around, missing work for days, based on their inability to communicate. read more
