I was referred to this group after suffering a Heart Attack in Jan. 2014. The first Dr. I saw there was awful, she was in a hurry, made no effort to listen to me. She prescribed an Event Monitor that I was unable to use because I didn't have a land line to transmit events. She also prescribed meds that I told her I had taken in the past and they caused me to faint & required a visit to the ER. She insisted that I take the meds. I immediately changed to Dr. Michaels for my next visit. He treated me better & his Medical Assistant appeared to be attentive & competent. However, 4 days ago I began experiencing dizziness/fainting, shortness of breath and dangerously low blood pressure. In light of my past Heart Attack I was concerned. I called the office & left a message, when no one returned my call I had to go to the ER where I was told it was "most likely" my meds & I needed to talk to my Cardiologist. I called the office again the following day & spoke to the Med Asst. She told me to stop taking the meds until she spoke to Dr. who would call me later that day. It's been 3 days now. I've left a message everyday & no one has called me back. After some research I learned that the Medication should NEVER be stopped suddenly. When I experienced a major spike in Blood Pressure I took it upon myself to resume taking the same meds. This is a potentially life threatening situation. I am afraid to drive or walk around for fear of fainting. If I were a frail, senior or a person unfamiliar with my body & the meds I'm taking, I'd either be in the ER again or dead. I am so completely disappointed with this practice. I am appalled by the lack of responsibility, follow through, and response time. Obviously, Eureka, CA is not a place to live if you have any serious Medical issues. read more
