For kids, wandering around Wilcon while parents shop for bathroom fixtures and other household…read moreneeds is super fun! Haha. It's a huge store, so there's all sorts of stuff to look at and keep boredom at bay, like giant shiny jacuzzis and model kitchen units. Now that I'm older, recently my dad asked me to come with him to help shop for pipes and stuff for the extension we're building for our house. He's getting older too, and needs an assistant. So on my last visit, I was able to appreciate how completely stocked Wilcon is. Tiles, bathroom stuff, kitchen stuff, garden tools, locks, even pet supplies, it's all under one roof. It's the ultimate in convenience among hardware stores.

The thing about building a house is that saving time is as important as buying the right materials,…read morechoosing the right contractor and having the right design. The more time you lose, the more money you spend. This is why it's important that you choose a hardware store that has everything in it. You don't want to run around and drive to so many places just because one doesn't have a specific pipe and vice versa. You're better off at settling in 1 store where you can keep your sanity intact and your gas tank right above low. So where is this hardware that promises to give these things? It's the Wilcon Depot at Filinvest City in Alabang. My brother-in-law swears by it, and believe me he is the most anal person when it comes to these things. I came here yesterday to help him buy locks and other things for his almost finished house and it took us a few minutes to find everything we need. I would have loved to walk around more because of the nice tile selection inside but we didn't have a lot of time. So, if you're building a home or perpetually fixing an old house (like me) AND you live in the South, come to this branch and make it your home base.

When I still living abroad with my husband, there were only two places I'd go to if I needed…read moresomething for the house - Ikea and Daiso (yes, imagine how our tiny home looked like). Now that I'm back home, I don't have the need to go to Daiso that much, but when I do, I always end up buying a lot. They have EVERYTHING here! From stationery, to home decor, toys, cleaning products, even food! My dad found some barley tea here and I have a friend who recently went to Hong Kong and forgot to buy treats for some of his relatives while he was there. Guess where he ends up buying chocolates? Not one of his aunts suspected a thing! My favorite finds would be the organizers (for every OC person out there) and the baking supplies. They're all so cute and so cheap. Okay, for Daiso fans like me, they have a new branch in Robinsons Las Pinas. And it's big. The best part is, people haven't really discovered it yet so we have less competition for our kawaii finds.

I sincerely do not know anyone who doesn't like buying stuff at Daiso. I mean really, some things…read moreare just too good and reasonably priced at PhP88 to pass up. A few years ago, my sister and I bought practically all of our home items from Daiso when we moved into an apartment. There are times I would really enter Daiso just to look around and see what I could buy. Yes, a bit of an impulse buyer here. Anyway, I was glad to find a big Daiso store at the newly opened Robinson's Place Las Piñas, mostly because I knew I no longer have to go all the way to Glorietta in Makati or Market Market at Bonifacio Global City to score god deals for random things I need like kitchen items, things for the bathroom or bedroom, even school supplies! I particularly found it nice that they had more than the usual attendants going around, refilling stocks and assisting customers one aisle after the other.
