There also were cold beverages in a refrigerated cooler. They will be having more and more every weekend. If you are looking for a particular item that you don't see, just let them know and they will try to get it for you. There are some farm animals to see here; goats, cows and pigs. They also have guided tours of the farm, so if you are interested, ask about the details. In addition, they sell handmade crafts that are unique, as well as t-shirts for infants, children and adults. Of interest is an upstairs museum. If you get a chance, make sure you go look. This family business is open weekends, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 6pm. They have private lot parking. I just noticed the handwritten sign saying "mercado". I decided to drop in and check it out. The space is big and it looks like they are still in the processing of opening/setting up. There are lots of different latin products in there and a huge selection of kitchen stuff - huge pots, pans, etc. Everything you need to get started making a delicious latin meal. The produce - oh my goodness - I've never seen such an array of produce. All looking so fresh and so good. There were lots of stuff I didn't even recognize. They have a refrigerated area with cheeses, tortillas, pre-made items, etc. It also looks like they are putting in a big meat counter and maybe even some in-house prepared foods. I picked up a giant Asian pear and some tortillas (they only have one brand though - hope that changes) and headed towards the register. There they had a bin of fresh made chicken tamales for $1.50 each. I grabbed a couple and had that for dinner. Very good. These are more like central american tamales wrapped in banana leaves. The masa was very moist and thick. The chicken had a great flavor with a bit of spice. I can't wait until they fully open and have the meat counter and prepared food area open. The space isn't terribly small (I would say medium-sized as a whole), it's just a little narrow. But they do a good job of packing all their products in there.
