The Switch: - After a short photo session, we were informed that the certificate only covered a single 14-inch unframed photo. - We were pressured with aggressive upselling tactics and confusing "discounts" to upgrade to a much larger and more expensive package. - The pricing was exorbitant (e.g., $5,000 for a 24-inch photo) and not disclosed beforehand. - Crucially, the initial price he quoted did NOT include the frame or taxes. These were added later, step-by-step, increasing the cost significantly. The Trap: - Under pressure and with limited time, we agreed to a 24-inch framed photo and two 14-inch unframed photos for what we thought was $2,500. - The final contract price was inflated to over $2,700 with added fees and the deposit deceptively used as a "discount." - When we tried to cancel just 30 minutes after signing, citing the unexpected costs, Marc refused, claiming the contract was non-refundable (who does that??!!!). Instead of a refund, he agreed to remove the two smaller photos and reduce the price slightly, but the cost was still exorbitant for a single 24-inch portrait. The Aftermath: - We were stuck with a bill over $2,000 for a single portrait. The owner, Marc, demonstrated a complete lack of customer service and ethical business practices. - Afterward, I shopped around and realized I could have gotten the same quality portrait for a fifth of the price! Conclusion: Huelar Portraits employs a bait-and-switch business model, luring customers in with gift certificates and then pressuring them into expensive upgrades. Did a family portrait as we had a gift certificate from Audi. This is actually a late review as we did the photoshoot a year back. We had received this gift certificate two year back and I was pregnant then. I asked them if they could postpone it for a year so we could get the picture with the baby. Even though the time was beyond the expiration date of the coupon they agreed to postpone it over a year. It was easy to contact them and they were very accommodating with everything. The photoshoot was at their studio. Marc and lulu was very friendly and made the entire process easy for us. Before the photoshoot they explained everything in detail. They took a couple of family pictures and then solo of our baby. They had pretty decent and elegant photo backdrops and helped us with posing. Finally after the photoshoot we were asked to wait while he did the touch up of the photos. Marc showed us the photos and we were in awe. So then why 3 star? They asked us to select two pictures and they rest they deleted right in front of us!! The price for the portrait is pretty expensive and I don't understand why they wouldn't give us the soft copies of the other pictures. They said it was their policy but it is so expensive, and we had already taken the photos, then why not just share the other pictures. But instead they deleted it! I was pissed out with that and sad too! read more

Excellent service. Very happy with the whole process. They were very patient during the time and provided us with different options to choose from. No high pressure sales tactics. It is an expensive affair affair, and given that their portraits are meant to be heirloom it is definitely worth it. We may go back when the kids are bigger for a great family portrait. The wait for the print is a little longer (we were told 6 months). But it was offered to be sent home, so we are eagerly waiting for it. read more

Lulu always replies my emails at timely manner, all the instructions, dos and dons are clearly spelled out over the phone and in the emails, no ambiguous on the dress code, no time wasted in the entire progress. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! I went here with a promotion gift card after my new baby was born. Their prices are ridiculously expensive for what they provide. The photo session was rushed-they give you a raggedy towl to wear although they do provide baby products, i.e. diapers, wipes etc. USE THEM because they are ripping you off with their portrait package prices. All the picutures they took of my baby are pictures I could have taken at home. The mommy/baby pictures were cute but NOT WORTH what they are charging. It took them six weeks to deliver 2 pictures to me. There was no special finish, no special instructions, etc. I initially was told you are not charged for the session but then was charged for it as part of my $250 "gift certificate". They couldn't even clearly explain the price break down when I called to question them. I was given a brochure of prices and they told me to not worry about their "confusing" listing of rates and that it would all be explained to me when I went in to see the proofs. Then when I questioned the amount due their arguement was "you were given the prices to see for yourself." My opinion is that they are sneaky in their pricing and marketing. Although I only ordered two pictures they kept the hard sell trying to get me to order a larger package. They are not worth the excessively high price they are charging. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Huelar Portraits for a recent family photo. It had been a few years since we had arranged professional photos in a studio and had the opportunity to try out Huelar photos as they had so generously donated a sitting to a local school for an auction benefiting the school. They helped prepare us for our upcoming appointment with tips on what types of clothing to wear and how to help make our portraits timeless and not a time capsule for what it looked like back in 2015. When we arrived at our appointment, they made us feel very comfortable and tried different arrangements and set ups and took many shots so that we had much to choose from. They got so much done in under an hour! A week later we came back to see the results and make the tough decisions. They really went the extra mile by providing a gift bag of activities to our son to make his time there more enjoyable while we made all the hard choices.
