My husband still works in the city, and I occasionally have to come into office there as well. On days where we both have to go in, there's no way to drive to the train station and back home without an option to park. We don't want to drive all the way into the city and sit in traffic either. Although we try to give Mourad at least a 24 hour notice, there have been times where it's been more like a 2 hour notice. I'm each occasion, he is always willing to help and for a fair price. He really knows his way around and doesn't rely on GPS which can fail especially when service is spotty. The other night on our way home, there was some sort of accident en route and the road was blocked off, no problem for Mourad, he made a few quick turns and we were at our house moments later. The cherry on top is how he always arrives earlier than you ask, waits patiently and is so kind!

I had to ask him to put his phone down that I was not comfortable with him on his phone and instead of apologizing said, well I'm at a red light and laughed. I shouldn't have called for the next trip but was in a pinch so we hired again. This time he was driving my family (Two adults and TWO CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS), and WAS READING AND RESPONDING TO TEXTS while on the HIGHWAY and ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR! I gasped and said you need to stop texting, my family is in the car, these are my children. His response was unapologetic and said well he needs to speak with his other driver who needs him. I said if you need to do that then you need to pull over. Instead of waiting to address his driver, he literally pulled off on the side of the highway with my family in the car to respond to a text. Super unprofessional. On top of this, when we arrived to my home he said I owed him more than what was quoted. Two and three word email responses from the owner led to either a miscommunication or deceit. Quite simply, I requested a roundtrip quote (home to airport with return). When being dropped at the airport, I was horrifically surprised when they told me the quoted price was each way. Sadly, the start of my vacation was spent standing in the road at the Newark airport drop-off, arguing for ten minutes on the phone with the business owner. He attempted to compromise, but it wasn't enough. A week before my trip, I emailed the owner for a clarification of their charge, asking, "do you collect half each way?" His response was, "yes, we do". I can't ever use or recommend this service again. The owner should learn to write clear emails and utilize formal price quotes like other car services. I ended up riding home at the end of my trip in a much nicer Cadillac Escalade with a different business!

Seven minutes after that (the hospital is less than 1.2 miles from my front door) we had to rely on a neighbor for a frantic run to the train. After calling three other cab companies to be denied a ride to the Peekskill Metro North station during peak commuting hours, I called Radio Taxi. The dispatcher told me that the drivers were extremely busy, but they could get a cab to me in 10 to 15 minutes. It was probably more like 17 minutes, but my driver showed up in a very new, modern, and clean SUV taxi. After using various Hudson Valley cab companies where the cars are in terrible shape and the interiors are filthy, it was very nice to be in a well-maintained car. The driver did not operate the vehicle like something out of Grand Theft Auto (which has also happened to me) and obeyed all traffic laws (I'm not asking for very much, am I?). Granted I called approximately 45 minutes before the train was due to arrive because of horrible experience with cabs in the past, but I arrived to the station with time to spare. Because of some of the awful experiences I have had of late, Radio Taxi may be one of the first companies I'll call from now on.

Just for fun I opened up the Uber app and the same trip costed $5.45. I know Uber prices go up and down so YMMV. When I called him he gave some BS about leaving Peekskill coming to me house then driving to RTE 202 Crompond Rd and having to cross back into Peekskill. I then called the Peekskill PD to find out if this was legal. It turns out that once a taxe registered in Peekskill leaves Peekskill they are free to charge whatever they want. I was being a kind helper to a Spanish woman who asked me for help and didn't speak English. She was with a little boy, and through a lot of difficulty let me know that her cab was over a half hour late to pick her up. She asked me to call and speak to the dispatcher to ask for an ETA. I was picking up my daughter from pre school and could empathize with her having a small child. She was totally helpless, and confused. Her child was antsy and making her nervous. I couldn't leave her like that. Upon calling the dispatcher and simply asking him a simple question and explaining the situation, I was quite literally screamed at, verbally abused and hung up on. I called back and was hung up on again. Finally I called her kind driver #28, who was empathetic to her situation, but told me that unfortunately I needed to speak to dispatch. Upon calling dispatcher again, I yelled right back and put him in his place. Also telling him that I would be leaving a negative review for his nasty and dehumanizing treatment of this woman and myself. Finally he gave an ETA and hung up. The kind and professional driver #28 called me back as I finally left to go home with my child. He apologized to me profusely and explained that multiple people have complained as well. He was a gentleman and treated me with respect, and professionalism. Do not use this taxi service! Driver 28 is an asset to this company. Hope he finds a better job elsewhere. Wish I could Leave zero stars.

Then it was $8. No idea what it is now. Neither did the driver. So I gave him $10. Thought I was covering my bases. He reported me as ripping him off and now they won't pick me up!! Incredible. My grandmother used L&L. So sad. They won't even talk to me about it. Btw. I just rode with Rio - same trip - it was $11!! Go figure. All that for a dollar.
