We weren't on the boat to party but rather it was a trip to sail. Otherwise everything was great and we recommend hiring Peter and Osprey, especially if you are a group and want to have a party.

Being out on the water gave us a completely different perspective of the surrounding landscape. The pace was relaxed, giving us time to laugh, talk, and enjoy the experience together. It ended up being one of those rare outings that genuinely brought our group closer. Everything was thoughtfully organized. The equipment was in excellent condition, the guides were professional and friendly, the gear guide and instructions were clear, and the entire experience felt effortless from start to finish. Some of us were first-timers, while others were seasoned paddlers, and the guides made everyone feel comfortable and confident from the start. Every person in our group had a wonderful time. By the end of the day, new passions had been sparked, and we were already planning to get back on the water. Whether you're visiting the Hudson Valley or have lived here your whole life, I can't recommend Storm King Adventure Tours enough. It's the kind of experience that reminds you to slow down, find peace, be present with yourself, appreciate where you are, and enjoy the people you're with. The price was a little steep, but I didn't mind because their docking prices are so reasonable. I dropped the boat off with them to get the hull primed and painted on a 19' boat (including jacking it up off the trailer). The price was $1000. The job was done in just under 2 weeks, which was a decent turn-around time considering the weather was rainy and they had lots of other boats to work on. The paint job was outstanding - they were able to figure out where the waterline began, which is difficult to do because I keep the hull clean. Upon picking up the boat, they took their time to explain how bottom paint works and how to maintain it at the end of the season. The employees here are all patient, friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to keeping my boat here again in the 2017 season.

The docks have always been disgusting, falling apart and rotting. Their "club" is a bunch of rude drunks sitting under a tent at a picnic table. However, we have always returned because Cold Spring is a beautiful town. They started charging $10 an hour because their "club" can't afford the rent. Today, we walked up, I smiled and said hello to the disgusting drunk that was stumbling toward us screaming about how it's $10 an hour, something we're well aware of not only because we come here often but because their pathetic docks are plastered with ugly signs stating this. I should have immediately called the police as he continued to get closer to us, slurring his words, looking for what I can only assume was a physical altercation. My husband has the parking app but he was on his phone and was on a call, so we stopped and were waiting at the gate leading to the town when the man continued to stumble toward us grumbling about how we were trying to sneak in without paying. I respectfully said that my husband was on the phone and as soon as he was done, he would make the payment on his phone. This is all happening while we are STILL STANDING WITHIN THEIR CLUB GATES. He starts screaming about how they had to kick people out for sneaking in over the weekend. I can say with 100% certainty that no one was trying to get out of paying $10 to dock their boat. The people in this "club" have always rude and nasty however I have never experienced something this pathetic. Clearly this lowlife drunk only finds joy in his pathetic life by harassing visiting boaters. The troll under the bridge has been replaced by a troll under a tent.

This is a smart idea to help boost the local economy. The free guest docking gives me a destination to take my boat and, as a result, I frequent Cold Spring as often as I can during the summertime. Most local marinas don't offer this, and most towns don't have enough attractions to encourage me to dock there. When I take friends out on my boat, the Cold Spring Boat Club is always a primary stopping point. I'll often bring my friends to The Depot, the ice cream shoppe, and sometimes stop in other local businesses. Collectively, between friends and myself, we've easily spent $1,000 at local establishments. All they ask at the boat club is that guests sign in with their boat info and total number of people on board. The marina is a very peaceful atmosphere. The members are friendly, blue collar, and usually spend their weekends out BBQing at the marina pavilion. If I lived a little bit closer, I would definitely keep my boat at this marina.

Instead of burning gas going to each marina, I began calling ahead. Rogers Point was getting ready to close, but the person who answered the phone (it's a yacht club run by it's own members) said he will stay open and wait for me. I filled up and we were able to enjoy the rest of the night on the boat thanks to Rogers Point. The member who helped me also said to call the marina by radio any time when they're closed and any of the members will be glad to come out and open up the fuel pump. Great place just north of the Walkway on the Hudson for any boaters who are ever in need of gas - and reasonable gas prices.

We were not asking for anything unreasonable. The flights we attempted to book were never full--we confirmed this each time--so our rescheduling or cancellation would not have prevented anyone else from flying. Despite this, after four cancellations on their part due to weather and two proactive reschedulings on our part (in anticipation of poor conditions), the company refused to offer even a partial refund. This policy remained unchanged even though our cancellations were rooted in legitimate weather concerns and the need to avoid long overnight travel for my wife and elderly mother-in-law. Their refusal to acknowledge this reality, coupled with dismissive remarks such as "we don't know what weather app you're using," was frankly insulting. It's the standard weather app available on every smartphone. What compounds the problem is the rigidity of their scheduling policy. They will not confirm whether a flight is going ahead until 8:00 PM the night before a 5:15 AM departure. For anyone coming from New York City (a multi-hour journey), this is deeply impractical. We once had to cancel a trip 30 minutes before departure from our home simply because they wouldn't confirm earlier, despite clear weather warnings. This lack of flexibility and poor customer support creates a high-stakes gamble for anyone not located nearby. Add the cost of travel, overnight accommodations, and the risk of last-minute cancellations, and the actual cost of this experience balloons to $1000 or more for two people. Despite repeated attempts to make use of our tickets before expiration, we were thwarted by several company-initiated cancellations due to weather. They did offer us a one-week extension, which we appreciated. However, when we politely asked for a refund after a month of unsuccessful rescheduling, they abruptly declared our tickets expired. Only when we pushed back did they reverse that statement--something that felt more like strategic positioning than good-faith customer service. The shift in tone when they learned we intended to post a review was striking and disingenuous. It felt like damage control, not sincere effort to rectify the situation. To be clear, I don't doubt that the balloon ride itself may be beautiful. But potential customers need to know that this company is extremely inflexible, often unprofessional in tone, and not equipped to accommodate anyone traveling from outside their local area. The risks--financial and logistical--are significant. This isn't just about a missed flight; it's about a poorly designed customer experience that leaves no room for the real-life variables most people have to consider. If you don't live nearby and have no margin for disruption, I would strongly advise against booking.
