I flew in and out of New Orleans with my friend Ivy P., and we spotted the magnet racks at this Hudson News stand about a minute after deplaning. We're both moms, and we agreed to raid the place for presents on our way out. This gave us peace of mind for the next five days. No need to run around the French Quarter in search of New Orleans-themed souvenirs. I don't like souvenirs as a rule, especially the cheap breakable stuff you get at tourist-facing gift shops. I've decided, though, that magnets and Christmas ornaments are okay, and was gratified to learn that Ivy had come to the same conclusion. The magnet selection was quite good. I picked two, but there were four or five that would have been acceptable. I had less success with the Christmas ornaments, but that was okay, as my kids don't ask for those. I also picked up a New Orleans postcard, which I failed to post for lack of planning and postage. There were self-checkout machines, but also a nice woman working the stand. She pointed me toward the postcards and tried to help me send the one I bought (the lack of postage was determinative). Hudson News also has snacks and drinks and other souvenirs, but you already know that if you've been to the airport, and I'm realizing, too late, that no one needs a five-paragraph review of a chain newsstand. tl;dr if you need New Orleans magnets, this place has you covered. read more

I was stuck in New Orleans for a few hours waiting for my flight and I was happy to see a big store to do some "shopping". Lucky for me, this nice-size store had a little bit of everything. We killed some time in the book section and I picked up a fun read. Plenty of snacks, drinks, T-shirts, magazines, smart phone accessories (earbuds, chargers, etc), trinkets, souvenirs and local and collegiate gifts. Something for everybody. Great stop! read more

Came to New Orleans on business travel and didn't have time to buy a gift for my wife. She loves t-shirts and Hudson News came to my rescue! They have a great assortment of tourist items like t-shirts, refrigerator magnets, shot glasses, and others. I'm sure you will find a souvenir to bring back home, a small reminder of how amazing New Orleans is. They also have all of the things you may need for a long flight ahead, such as, books, magazines, newspapers, snacks, drinks and small electronic accessories. They are located at concourse D near United gate D5. The store is well organized and has ample room in aisles for that luggage you most likely have with you. What really impressed me was the attentive and super friendly staff. They were very helpful and showed appreciation for my visit. read more

Call me old fashioned, but I am a sucker for anything resembling a newsstand. I am a frequent visitor to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and I often visit the Hudson News located just outside Concourse D. Of course, I always take a moment to peruse the magazines every time I patronize this store. There is a little bit of everything here for travelers. As mentioned, there are lots of magazines and books if you want something to read on the plane. In fact, there are hundreds and hundreds of books to choose from. If you are headed home and need a gift for someone, there are plenty of New Orleans styled gifts to choose from. You can get t-shirts, Cajun & creole spices, beignet mix, cookbooks, electronic accessories and New Orleans sports apparel to name a few. There are also lots of snacks and beverages to choose from. Contrary to some of the other reviews, the employees here have always been courteous. Definitely an A-Ok store for me. read more

Had a really huge selection of books and magazines. My flight was delayed 7 hours. I walked in to Hudson News at 10:58pm, 2 mins before closing. I selected a sandwich from the cooler and walked to the cashier to pay for it. The cashier, an African American female with dyed silver/gray hair, told me I needed to "get the hell out" because they were closed. I said excuse me--you are the only store open and I just want to get something to eat, and your gates/doors were clearly open which is how I got in. She said, "I will call the police if you don't get out." This despite my being in the store before it closed. I dropped the sandwich on the ground and exited the store. The cashier nonetheless summoned the police and within 5 minutes, I was surrounded by four cops and they pulled my license info and interrogated me for 20 minutes before finally letting me go. An extremely unpleasant experience brought about by a very angry, vindictive cashier that maybe had a bad day and wanted to f someone over. I will never go to Hudson News again! read more

I bought a $20 Christmas ornament at the Hudson news in New Orleans airport. The clerk didn't box or wrap it in bubble wrap-just put it in A plastic bag full of other items. It broke in half. No one at Hudson news responded to my request for a replacement, and will not email or call me back! Evidently customers must return to NOLA to get Hudson news to fix their mistake and resolve their poor customer service or get a refund!!!! Ridiculous!!! read more

This place is awful. Poor selection of merchandise, some of which is damaged, at exorbitant prices. One cashier working (if you're lucky), despite long lines. I only went to Hudson News because it's sister store a few shops down, called Essence, had no one working the registers. When the young woman who worked there returned from wherever she had been there was no apology, not even a half-hearted "Sorry for the wait." They sell cans of Cafe du Monde coffee for $13.99, when you can go to Amazon and order two cans for $17. The shops are disgraceful. Avoid! read more

Sucks to end my trip on a negative. But these ladies who are working this morning lack customer service. I went in at 455 am and one of the cashier told me I couldn't shop (my fault I didn't see their small sign behind the souvenir stand) and to wait outside. It was finally 5 and I got what I needed and went to cash out. The cashier wasn't friendly at all and was a bit rude. She didn't even bag my purchase. I had a bad experience with a terrible cashier there named ashanta, she gave my wife a trash tape fixed dollar, i came 1 minute later to ask her if she can give me a normal one, first she said no "it's a dollar" then she said i should wait in the line (approx 10 persons) and started ignoring me. Wow. I've never seen anyone this disrespectful and actually this nasty. We been at the airport on Thursday the 21st of September. We been freezing in this airport for several hours already. I was looking for a store to buy a sweater or blanket or whatever at this point. Remind you it is 5 am in the morning so I knew there wasn't much choice nor many stores open. So I saw the guy opening the store and ask him if I could buy a sweater from him because I've been freezing so bad. He told me to wait ten minutes which I said no problem to. Another lady shows up all of a sudden and told me to move so I said I talked to the guy and am just waiting to get the sweater. I even said I will help you setting up because I've been freezing in a really bad way and am also anemic which makes the whole situation worst. She told me go ahead so I grabbed the next best sweater and wanted to pair her. All of a sudden she yells at me no. I wasn't talking to you! I told to wait. So I said well I misunderstood that since you said go ahead and also said there is no reason for her to tell at me. I don't have an issue to pay a big amount for better quality but like I said before, no options at this time of the day! She just went ahead trying to say all kinds of stuff to me, so I walked off. I am not sure what type of business you guys are trying to have, but it sure is ridiculous. I will never buy a single thing from any of your airport stores again just because humanity is apparently zero with you guys! What a stressful experience! Stopped in to get some snacks for the plane, got 2 things and the cashier charged me twice for the more expensive item. Honest mistake? Maybe, maybe not... but who looks at their receipt when they are trying to get to a plane? And now I have to wait for her to figure out who to call which took her about 5 minutes. Then I have to wait for the "supervisor" to get here from another terminal. By then my plane is boarding, but I am still standing here waiting. Supervisor finally shows up, strolling down the terminal with no sense of urgency at all. He never apologies for the mistake or for me having to wait. I mentioned that it seemed to be a poor policy to make the customer wait for someone to come from another terminal when it was their mistake. His response was, I'm only one person. Still no apology and by now, my group has already boarded on the plane. 20 minutes from the time that she made the mistake until I finally got resolution. & I never once got an apology. And unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it, because they're the only retail in the airport. read more

I just recieved the worst service and I was humiliated by the cashier ,who was working. When I got to the counter to check out , I noticed I had forgotten my debit card.. I told her , I would step out into the lobby, to get my card from my husband. The cashier looked at me and rolled her eyes. In a mean voice she said, "well go". I walked out a little embarrassed . When I returned, the manager had come in to over ride the transaction. As I walked out , I could hear speaking ugly about me. I heard her say," that woman came in here with no money," and she kept on and on . I turned around and walked back up to the counter. I told her , I am sorry , I inconvienced you, however, I do have money. I My husband had my debit card and you were paid. The manager just stood there, no apology to me or anything... I was humilated... I travel often... I will never step foot in that place again... I have picture of her ...
