I'm officially finished with this place. They switched Dentist faster than a tank of gas. The last time I showed up for my annual exam it was the dentist first day and she just decided not to show up that day so it was a complete waste of my time. They had a hygienist and a receptionist and that was it running the whole office. Now I have an appointment and I've been sitting here 50 minutes after I was supposed to be seen at 11 o'clock in the morning and still have not been called back. Contrary to popular belief people have lives and when we set an appointment time, that's when we expect to be seen or shortly thereafter you can keep this place. I'm done. read more

HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND! My first appointment we (my 8yo) waited an hour to be seen. His second appointment even though I had confirmation text and emails they turnt me around stating I didn't have an appointment. Keep in mind The receptionists at the desk at the time seemed to be some overly giggly college like girls that were at no service to me at all. Scheduled me another week out. I came in early January for a repair. When the tech rinsed my mouth the water tasted horrible. The next few days I became ill. Very ill. I contracted C-diff. My first round of antibiotics costs me over $600. That's with coverage. Two weeks after my prescription it returned; something that happens often. So I had to be on antibiotics longer. That cost me another $800. The office was filthy. I should have turned around and left but they convinced me this office was temporary and had plans on moving soon. Hudec Dental is a total scam. They must work on commission because they always try to upsell you. Just wait for it....I am sure you will be told you need a deep clean. But wait your insurance wont cover the deep clean and then they refuse to just give you a regular cleaning. Oh but wait they can go talk to their manager for you and maybe you can haggle a lower price. read more

Hudec needs to address why most if not all their patients at some point get recommended for "deep cleaning" procedure that can do more harm than good. Hudec needs to come clean whether hygienists receive commissions for up-sells. read more

if I could give them zero stars I would! I went to the Bedford office for a cleaning. against my better judgement I paid $57 which I do not know why because my insurance pays for a cleaning at 100%. I paid with my HSA card and they required a receipt I called the bedford office back to get a copy of the receipt and they show no payment made even though it shows up on my HSA statement that $57 was paid with that card. my money was never applied to my account. When I called the the office back, they were very dismissive as if it wasn't a big deal! And still, I have no idea what happened to my $57. I'm so disappointed in Hudec dental...please beware and NEVER do business with them! read more

Dr. Berning and all staff at the Broadview Heights location are amazing. I have dental anxiety and they all made me feel very comfortable and well taken care of. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and has a sense of humor that helps put you at ease. He confirmed issues, that other honest dentists had noted, without making me feel bad or pressuring me on procedures. He performed a very thorough and thankfully painless root canal. It took longer than having a specialist do it, but I know it wasn't rushed and all canals were found. I had a root canal from a "specialist" that was rushed, painful, and ultimately failed so I didn't mind the extra time he took to make sure it was done correctly the first time! I highly recommend Dr. Berning and staff at this location. read more

If you need a dentist, i would recommend going to a private practice dentist rather than an assembly line practice like Hudec. I went to Hudec in Broadview Hts for over 15 years. In that time, they had 5 different dentists at this location. I went twice a year religiously, and usually more, as they ALWAYS advised something was in need of repair. I never refused anything they recommended - UNTIL they started doing x-rays at every single visit. When i first started going there, they would x-ray only once a year, maybe once every 2 years. When i questioned it, they said "don't worry, your insurance covers it". So i contacted my insurance company, and even though they were covered, the cost went against my yearly max. so they took unnecessary xrays to get more insurance $, and when i really needed some work done, i had to pay out-of-pocket for the procedure. when i went for a cleaning and there was a sixth new dentist (they only have one dentist at the location), i said enough, and went to a new dentist with a her own practice. She told me my previous dentist(s) had neglected my teeth horribly, and showed me extensive xrays to prove it. Hudec had never once, in 15+ years, showed me my xrays. Maybe they never had film in the machine, who knows. i now have a good dentist that i trust, and i know i won't show up for an appointment and find a new face working in my mouth. AVOID HUDEC LIKE THE PLAGUE! read more

Twice in two months I had appointments at this location and both times when I arrived, I was told that the hygienist/Dentist wasn't there to perform the service. I had to take time off work and I was not notified properly prior to my arrival either time this happened. When I asked the receptionist why I wasn't notified properly, she proceeds to tell me she "Thought she texted me". This was completely ridiculous and unprofessional. I absolutely LOVE this dentist. I have been going here for almost 8yrs. Never missed an appt and have always followed (in a timely manner) my dental plans. I have never been recommended a deep cleaning. And always provided an explanation and educated on how to prevent an unhealthy mouth. I wish there were offices or affiliates in Arizona too. Dr. Berning is a great dentist. I had a problem with a root canal that he did. It was complicated and my gums and nerves were very sore. He continued to get me in and make sure everything was going as it should. He is a caring and personable dentist. I feel like I know him even though I am a patient of just 6 months now. Beware, they will do services that the insurance company only covers every 5 years. But will not let you know or inquire if you can obtain these x-rays from your past dentist. Then while your trying to get it sorted through the insurance company of why this was not covered they threaten to send you to collections. BEWARE!!! read more

Very poor dental work that I'm having fixed by another practice. I was in horrible pain during a filling repair, twice. I have come to find out that the filling they "replaced" was about 3/4 of my tooth. Just a little straggling piece of tooth remains. Now I have the fun of getting a root canal, which I probably needed at first. However, I'm really glad that Hudec didn't do the root canal. I was in horrible pain and crying during the whole "repair". I'm no baby, either. Avoid this nightmare. read more

I went to this dentist yesterday. I had an appointment at 4 but wasn't seen until 5. I let the doctor know that one of my wisdom teeth was giving me quite a lot of pain and he looked at it and agreed it looked pretty bad. They suggested I had five cavities (which with my level of dental hygiene and previous history I know is not possible). They told me to come and get my cavities filled next week and then some time after that would be the best time to remove my wisdom teeth. I didn't understand why we wouldn't immediately alleviate the pain I was experiencing. I also took a look at my xray and noticed that some of my wisdom teeth were growing in perfectly straight yet they still encouraged me to remove them. I hated the fact they seemed not to care about my pain and only seemed to want to get as much money as they could by doing unnecessary procedures. Though I will never go back to them they had an extremely nice staff. I loved the receptionist, dental assistant and doctor. They were all pleasant and pretty helpful aside from the fact they wouldn't get my tooth removed. read more

I went to the Hudec site on W25th for years. It was good, but recently the dentists keep changing and the organization seems problematic. I had a few cleaning appts that were cancelled with no notice, I didn't know until I got there, which meant That the PTO time I took from work was wasted. I have since moved and have tried for 6 weeks to get them to send their dental records/X-rays to my new dentist. They are nice on the phone and always say they will send it that day, but after six try's over 6 weeks to get them to send the records, I figured I have wasted enough time on them. I guess that they only seem to care about money coming in, not patient satisfaction. On another note, one of the people who answered the phone was bemoaning the difficulty of keeping dental hygienists. Whether from company attitude or lack of competitive pay, I don't know. They just were saying that the hygienists were leaving for other dentist offices. read more

Not one to write reviews but felt compelled to regarding my experience recently. Had appointments for my 2 teens. made arrangement with their teachers for early dismissal as well as made arrangements to leave work early to pick them up. Received a call 1 hour before their appointment time (after I already left work) that it was cancelled (not the end of the world, things happen, I get it). Was then told next available was May (currently in March). So they cancel ONE hour before the appointment (after I left work and kids are waiting in the school office for pick-up) and then proceed to tell us we can't get you in until May. Woman on the phone was laissez-faire and dismissive about the matter and didn't seem to recognize (or care) how poor that reflects on the business. I ended the conversation by suggesting we'd seek dental care elsewhere. No response or apology from her. read more

Went to Hudec dental today to have the upper left impacted wisdom tooth removed. I was very apprehensive at first due to being given the runaround for a Rx. I was thinking of cancelling the appointment or even just going to get my X-ray and give a piece of my mind. I was even sketched waiting to go back.....let me tell you something....I work in dental as an EFDA myself and I have never experienced a more precise and non-invasive impacted wisdom tooth extraction! Dr. Jia Dai has the magic touch!! He had my tooth out in literally a minute and a half and he has the demeanor that reassures he is confident about his expertise. I would and will recommend him to anyone looking to have an extraction done. Well done Dr. Dai : )) read more

They tried to sell me an expensive deep cleaning package for gum disease. Even when I pushed and said my gums don't bleed or hurt and I have gone for regular 6 mos cleanings for over 30 years at another practice. Sought a second opinion. Was told gums are perfectly healthy and deep cleaning was not necessary. Would not recommend. I thought something was funny when they have a poster promoting deep cleaning and stages of gum disease hanging in exam room. read more

Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt before heading there after seeing poor reviews. Nope. I will not be returning. Arrived to my appointment early (as requested) to fill out paperwork. Arrived at ten. Appointment scheduled at 1030. Was not taken back to be seen until after 1130. What a shame. Inconsiderate as most people have to return to work after a dental appointment mid morning. If you have time management skills, the office should not be scheduling appointments so close together. After No apologies, the cleaning assistant was quick and somewhat painful, and I was on my way out. Thank god I have insurance and won't be seeing this claim or I would have just walked out. Annoyed... won't be returning. My time is valuable too. Would look somewhere else before coming here. read more

I had been going to Hudec Dental for about 20 years and this year I had to finally leave. I went to an appointment in February, specifically made when my hygienist would be there, only to find out she had left the practice. While this isn't something Hudec could control, they could have called her patients just to let them know. I was so taken aback but let the appointment proceed. The Hygienist that worked on my teeth was OK but not great and the Dr. who I had never warmed up to, since he started a couple years ago, was his usual quick and unlikable self. So I went home and found my old hygienist on Linkedin and messaged her. Then today my daughter went for her appointment at Hudec. She has been going to Hudec since she was 4 years old. She is pregnant and also has two kids at home. Her husband had to come home from work for her to go to the appointment which was rescheduled from the original one in February, because she had morning sickness. When she got to the appointment this morning, she was asked if she brought a letter from her OB stating she could come to the dental appointment. This is the first she had ever heard of this request. Not once was this asked of her with her previous pregnancies and yes, she did go to the dentist with both. No one told her prior to this appointment and not even when she called to change the appointment because she was ill with morning sickness. So I called Hudec to let them know about both situations as I feel you owe it to a business you have been using for so long. In response to my call they called my daughter within 15 minutes and didn't say anything about the inconvenience they put her through but left a message saying "your mother called and said you were cancelling your next appointment, please call to confirm." So that is the kind of place Hudec Dentals is. They care only about the appointment cancellation confirmation so they can make room for another customer...not how they communicate with their patients. VERY SAD! read more

I had to switch to this dentist temporarily for insurance reasons and would not recommend this office. I had a filling done 3 months ago by an inexperienced assistant and not the dentist, which brought me back 3 months later as it was not holding up. Me previous dentist would do all the work himself and match up the filling color and clean thoroughly. I felt as if I was being pushed though quickly. I made a new appointment and was to be seen the next day. I arrive for my appointment and I'm told there is no appointment in the calendar. The receptionist tried to blame it on a storm that had happened weeks earlier and said many appointments were lost. That's great, but I had called the day before, so that was a lie. I was then told I could be seen in a half hour, and after an hour of waiting I left. The office is terribly run and was filled with incompetent staff. read more

Don't trust this company/location. Similar to several other posts that have already been made- same thing happened to me. Went in for a simple cleaning, and tried setting me up with 8 more appointments within a month time frame- claimed I had several cavities, gum disease (seems as if they tell everyone this), and also that they wanted to pull my wisdom tooth that has been in for many years with no issues. Without the extraction price- and insurance covering majority of it, would have been over 1200.00 in out of pocket costs. Luckily I took the advice of the reviews on this company and got my second opinion. No issues what so ever. Hudec even claimed they wouldn't even clean my teeth unless I agreed to their terms. Who does that??? I knew something didn't feel right in that office- was it ironic that as I'm sitting in the chair- there's a huge poster describing and explaining the severity of gum disease in front of my face the entire visit?! Ironic I think not. It's a shame they choose to be shady instead of practicing in the field as they sworn. Always get a second opinion!!!!!!!! And preferably by someone who is not a scam artist. read more

Came here twice for a cleaning, first time I felt like they moved relatively quickly and got me in and out in a short period of time. I was a little iffy about this place after, but I gave it one last shot. On my second visit, I actually timed from when I sat in the chair until when I got up and it took 12 minutes to clean my teeth. I've had several cleanings with other dentists before, and it always always takes 25-45 minutes for a nice cleaning, floss, and polish. I spoke to the dentist after and the response to my concerns was basically written off. I changed dentists the very next day. I do not recommend this place. read more

The dentists and their assistants are wonderful. My issue is the poor scheduling which results in over an hour of waiting. Finally, once in the chair, the dentist will have many patients she is working on all at the same time, which results in more waiting. read more

I took my kids here as they where close and took Medicaid insurance. I quit my last job to be at home for awhile to deal with some family issues, and it is the only time I've been jobless in my life. The first couple visits where nice. Staff was great, dentist was great. I went back to work and got private dental insurance. It took awhile for my private benefits to kick in but we still had Medicaid for awhile. A month after my kids last visit I got a phone call from the office asking if I had a new insurance card for the kids. Not having my private insurance card yet I gave them the new Medicaid card they send monthly. I explained I was getting private insurance soon and if Medicaid didn't cover it to call me back. I never recieved a call back but got a bill for $500.00... in my mothers name. My mother has never ever taken the kids to any appointments. I called after hours and left a message but never got a call back. Today I took the kids in for a cleaning. I checked in and one of the first things out of the receptionist's mouth was that I owed a huge balance. She announced this in front of other patients in the waiting room. Didn't call me aside to explain. I pulled out the bill that came in my moms name and suggested perhaps there had been a mistake. I didn't get to finish before she cut me off saying my mom MUST have brought the kids the first time they where seen. To which I HAD to let her know that was absolutely incorrect and she WAS wrong. But she just continued to insist. She wouldn't even acknowledge the bill or even look at it. I handed her my dental insurance cards and explained it was likely that I didn't physically have these cards at the last visit and I apologized. I explained I was hired at my current job in may but wasn't eligible for benefits until august . While typing and not looking at me at all she replied that " your insurance card states you where eligible since 07/2016". Let me interject it does not say it on the damn card. Anywhere. Now let me say, I am responsible for knowing my insurance policy. I should've done a better job. HOWEVER having worked in a doctors office and a billing department all my life I have to say this was poor customer service. At NO point did she ever apologize. I have to say that she likely thought I was another welfare dependent slacker, judging by the shock on her face when I presented my private insurance card. Which is sad because the system is there for people in need and never should a patient be made to feel that they are inferior. I reflected on this all day and decided that I'm not going back. Now that I have private insurance I can pretty much pick where to take them. Up until today I didn't have a reason. Oh and I work for a busy doctors office who sees up to 60 patients a day with several docs in the practice. It's not likely I'll recommend any hudecs to the docs or any of the patients that want a recommendation. read more
