Amazing pastries and deserts in the middle of an open market. It is worth the time to peruse the market place.

Part of Sachsenhausen-Nord, some separation from the competition along Schweizer Strasse allowing the kitchen at Hanss freedom to be creative and charge a bit less, it is beginning at 06h00 Monday through Saturday that shelves can be found fully stocked with Breads, Cakes and Confections, a tourist's lack of fluency in German easily overcome by pointing at that which looks best since not a single bite was lacking in any way. Not a place for those lacking will-power or on a diet, the smell of Butter and Yeast lingering several meters outside Bäckerei Hanss' door, it was beginning with a coil labeled Franzbrötchen that Cinnamon immediately made its presence known, the follow-up of Marmorkuchen further impressing thanks to Cocoa and Vanilla suspended in a moist crumb straight from a Gugelhopf pan. Built on tradition, but unafraid to gussy up rustic ideas, Bierenstich Herz takes Beesting Cake towards #instagram with its heart shape while retaining the Honey, Nuts and Cream, Sachsenhauser Apfelchen doing similar for Apple Streudel, though if one really wanted to nit-pick there is probably a bit too much flaky Pastry and not enough Fruit, thus making it more of a Danish. Happy to also see a few items enjoyed elsewhere, the historic Bäckerei's Mohnschnecke loaded with Poppy Seed Paste and sweetened by buttery Streusel, Rhabarberkuchen adds Strawberries to the mix with enough restraint to still let sour reign while the Crust itself cuts clean and remains crispy beneath a layer of Custard.

The Hefeteig dough was perfect - now I have to taste all the brezels and Hefe pastries! The cake was made w/ real whip cream and Almonds on top. No sugary cremes or fillers. You could really taste the quality ingredients the Konditor used. It did not only taste perfect it looked the part, too. Hands down best ever. I will have to order more cakes and in the future I will walk the 10-15 min to pick up bread and all other German pastries because it is worth it. Really cute traditional German bakery w/ large selection of bread and pastries. They had huge almond croissants, Frankfurter Kranz, Brasier and much more! Love the fact it is just around the corner in the Brückenviertel.

In fact a fourth generation Baker, great-grandfather Georg having originally opened shop in 1907 before moving to the current location, those interested in Konditorei & Confiserie Jamin's goods will find the Café open Monday through Saturday from 10h00, a lack of Breads or Viennoiserie placing them in a different category than nearby competition including the likes of Huck and Eifler. Long and narrow in terms of size, Pralines plus packaged Confections up front and Cakes lining a case in back, it is largely on German tradition that Cathérine's current collection is focused, 3-5€ each first yielding a dense slice of Spice Cake punctuated by Sour Cherries that serves equally good as Dessert as it would for Breakfast alongside a cup of Coffee. Allowing next for Austrian influence, genrous wedges of Sacher Torte for just 4.10€ dazzling with reflective Milk Chocolate Ganache and Apricot Jam brightening a Dark Chocolate Sponge, it seemed only right to finish with Jamin's take on Black Forest Cake, the individual rounds decorated in Cocoa shavings potentially Frankfurt's best rendition thanks to boozy Fruit that celebrates the Kirsch part of Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte.
