Huchiun Park looked like a very nice and well maintained park. From one of the signs, it opened a couple years ago on October 28, 2023. It was hidden in an area surrounded by new apartments. There were railroad tracks that separated the park from the IKEA.
The playground featured some swings, a small slide and a tunnel that kids could climb on top of. There was no big play structure. It seemed like it was built for little kids and I didn't think there was much for them to do.
There was a nice open grassy area. I saw people throwing a frisbee and having a picnic. A mirror labyrinth was right next it. I didn't like the sun reflecting off the mirrors and made me feel disoriented walking in and around it on a hot day.
The basketball court was a popular area the day that I went. It was half court so only one net. The nice thing was that there was a water foundation right next to the court to keep people hydrated.
Behind the basketball court was a greenway. There were markers along the path if you were interested in reading about the history of the land and the people that once lived here. There were also a bunch of exercise equipment you could use for free. The path eventually led to a dog park. Walking down a little further took me to a bridge that led me to the Bay St shopping area.
The park had a few picnic tables and tables with chairs. There were benches scattered around so plenty of spots to sit and rest. A public restroom and water foundation were located in the corner near the playground. The only downside was that there was no shade so bring a hat and some sunscreen. Street parking might be difficult to find since you would also be competing with people living in the nearby apartments. read more
