First impression is a 10 out of 10. What a beautiful reno. The ownership is brand new as well and quite often you'll see them (Guy & Barry) walking about, serving customers and making sure all is well. My wife went out for dinner last night and seeing that we live in south Calgary, why not head to Okotoks and check out the Royal Duke. The menu is pretty nice - a little bit of everything. We chose the 8oz NY Steak sandwich which did not disappoint. It was a Sunday night so things were quite quiet but I've been in there for lunch as well and it's quite a popular place to be. The service was great - Melissa was our server, very personable and really knowledgable about the different drinks on tap. There's loads of room, a billiards room with two tables, lots of TVs and sports to watch, very bright lighting and a private room with VLTs. Probably what really blows me away about this place is that I can bring my kids who are both under 5 years. Much like the UK where kids can go to the pub with mum & dad, it's the same here. Sent back one order (I wasn't going to bother sending mine back even though I should have) and the second order came out the exact same way. We didn't eat any of the 3 orders of fries. Our Server gave us a 'staff discount' off the burger which was $2.85. SMH. Also, why are you serving chicken gravy with the steak sandwich or the aforementioned beef burger? Tons of character, great music, friendly-ish staff, tons of specials (can't really keep track) and the bathrooms were NOT pretty. Looking forward to when you get more established. We tried the salmon with risotto, the salmon lox, and the sausage trio -- everything was delicious and well-presented. Service was great. Friendly, attentive and welcoming. He and I have hunted down to get a good German food in Canada. We've tried 2 in Edmonton, 1 in Radium Hot Springs and 1 in Harrison Hot Springs. The fifth German restaurant we tried was the best one which is the Bavarian Inn in Bragg Creek, not far away from Cal The only difference is in Germany the portion of meat is bigger than at this restaurant. Nevertheless, the Bavarian Inn matched up his tastebuds and mine. We'll come back whenever we're near the area.

John Henry's is a very small pub located up in the Drake Landing strip mall just behind the 7 Eleven. It is a unique pub in that it allows you to order pizzas and food from the Tom's House of Pizza which it shares the building with. There are quite a few TV's in the pub which are usually playing various sporting events. They have a full bar and a bartender who knows what they're doing. Overall John Henry's is not a bad place to grab a beer, but it is not really anything special either.
