She was fun, informative, energetic, great sense of humor and quite knowledgeable about the wines and the history of the castle. Her energy made the tasting! I will be honest, I was hoping the wines would have been better but the experience completely made up for it, and then some. I expected the Cabernet Sauvignon to be big and bold as these are the flavors of Calistoga and Napa Valley. That said, we enjoyed the Chardonnay Reserve, Sangiovese and Serata, which is a blend of reds. Also enjoyed the La Fantasia. We left the castle all smiling and chatting about how wonderful and fun our host, Riddhi, was and even spoke with her on the way out. She is a gem. We all enjoyed the experience and the tasting. Thank you Riddhi, for a great time and your warm sense of humor and hospitality!

I felt like we had driven back in time to what Napa valley had been 40 years ago - such a cool experience. Our tasting included a tour of the facility, which was built in the late 1800's. I loved that the tasting room felt so original - not one of the new modern places you see so much of in the area. We enjoyed their wines a lot and ended up purchasing their reserve Sauvignon blanc - and we are red drinkers! Great experience!

After 20/25 minutes of a winding 2 lane road at 25 - 40 mph, I finally arrived at the beautiful Pope Valley Vineyards. Founded in 1897 by Ed Haus as Burgundy Winery & Olive Oil Factory, their wine cellar was built into the side of a hill, which makes for a mind blowing experience. The tasting room is on the second floor above the cellar and overlooks their patio area and vineyards. It's a quaint winery, with a warm and cozy tasting room, and an exquisite wine catalog! The Petit Verdot was nothing short of AMAZING. But be sure to add an artisan charcuterie board, you won't be disappointed!

First of all, Tom and Desiree are two of the nicest people you will ever meet in the wine country. They invite you into their home, share food and wine and tell wonderful stories. We plan for 90 minutes and always end up staying longer - sorry Tom and Desiree but time goes by quick when you are enjoying yourselves. The winery makes a Howell Mt Cab and a Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc. The Cab is huge and you can taste Howell Mt in every sip. The Sauvignon Blanc has all the qualities of a superior white but at an affordable price point. Truth be known, both wines are priced less than their peers. Tom states he charges less because he wants to treat people like he would want to be treated. Red Cap Vineyards is by far one of the best finds in all of Napa. We have visited most of the wineries in Napa and this one is hard to top. When it comes down to it, it is the people behind the wine that makes the visit special. These two have vested their lives into Red Cap Vineyards. Your visit will be special and you will walk away feeling like you are part of the Red Cap family.

I don't post about wineries very often, but when I find one that blows my mind - I got to share…read more Cimarossa Winery is one of the most scenic estates in Howell Mountain, with terraced vineyards and olive groves. The winery is located at 2,100 feet in elevation on the Vaca range in Napa Valley. The name comes from a beautiful translation of "red hill top" in Italian. The winery's owner is Dino Dina, who studied at the University of Genoa and helped cure diseases prior to his time running a phenomenal winery. I can't just speak highly of the wines themselves, but the experience is great. We received meats, cheeses, and nuts from local producers to pair / elevate the tasting experience. In addition, they grow their own olives that they press into some of the best domestic olive oil I have ever had. In our tasting we had four wines, which we ended up having shipped home to us after the tasting! 2019 Rive di Cimarossa: A blend of 100% cabernet sauvignon from all vineyard blocks of the Cimarossa estate 2019 Rian: The grapes are sourced from two vineyard blocks split by a creek lined with olive trees. The vines are planted in a porous volcanic base with thin top soil, providing excellent drainage and therefore, very small, intense berries. 2019 Riva di Ponente: The grapes are sourced from a 1.4 acre vineyard block with full western exposure. This is one of the warmest blocks due to the afternoon sun. The clusters are hand-picked and this single vineyard wine is aged for 22 months in French Oak, 50% of which is new. 2019 Buriana: Buriana is a true reflection of the distinct vineyard from which it hales, named after a word from Dino's Genovese dialect which describes gales winds and wild summer weather.
