I agree with some of the previous posters, ALWAYS bring a designated driver when touring Russian River and Dry Creek, some of the world's best wines found here.

For the price of $15 per adult and $9 for child, you get the privilege of watching it erupt for about 3 minutes per hour or so. There are constantly available Groupons for this place so do yourself the favor of seeking one out before you come so you can save a few pennies. There are some other attractions on site, like horses and donkeys, maybe a llama, but it was warm the day of our visit so I took part in none of that and just sat in the shaded seating areas resting and waiting. I suppose if I wanted to stay closer to 2 hours, or 3, I could have watched this thing erupt for a second time but of course I did not do that. I will say that the Old Faithful Geyser in Rotorua, New Zealand requires someone to pour in a surfactant to prompt an eruption and this one requires no similar stimulus so I guess this one in Calistoga is more....unprompted? Authentic? I am no geologist, just musing. All in all, this was a relatively family-friendly thing to do while we were already in Calistoga and I'm pleased to announce I have visited all three Old Faithful Geysers in the whole world. This was not a goal of mine but I inadvertently accomplished this feat by stopping by here so Five Stars for that alone.

Plus, you are going to enjoy days of amazing beauty, and Geysers. I was very disappointed of this place. Unfortunately they are stealing money as there is nothing to see. The sad thing is it burned down right before completion so they never got to live in the house. The use of stones and rock kept a lot of the walls despite the fire and it reminds me of of an oversized version of a Greene and Greene style Craftsman Bungalow I saw in Pasadena, CA. If you are a fan of abandoned places you will like coming here. It's fenced off for safety so you can't go running around the structures but you can do a full 360 walk around and there is a platform you can walk on that's about in the middle of the house and you get a good view of the pool and different floors from here. The hike from the parking lot to the museum and to the grave sites and house are easy, my senior parents and young kids were able to do it easily. I would stop by the museum on the way back, there are some nice artifacts from Jack London as well as a scale model of what the hosue was supposed to look like.

Thankful that his wife Chairman left everything for us to learn and explore. There a $10 fee per vehicle to enter. Def worth it as there are numerous sites to see. I started with the museum as it opens at 9 am. Short hike to his once dream house unfortunately got burned down. His resting place all can be done in a short hikes on the other side the cottage open at noon. Meanwhile I did a few hikes in area. Def worth to visit

Next Stop: Duncans Mills... one stop shopping…read more Different shopping experience! While taking the scenic route along the Sonoma County we came upon this Russian River town. The cute little town is nestled in the Pacific Coast among redwoods and vineyards. Shopping, restaurants, antique stores, art galleries, camping and recreation activities abound this town. We stopped to check it out. The stores are so cute in this quaint village and they strictly enforce covid regulations here. When entering the stores you must sanitize your hands, wear your masks, and social distance. If you love tea you must stop at the Tea Shop, they also sell spices. The bookstore is adjacent to the tea shop and is such a cute tiny store. There is also a plant store, the Antiquarian. Located on Hwy # 116, 4 miles inland from the coast. The town has a population of only 85. There is shopping and food on both sides. They even have a tiny post office and a train depot & museum. Review #2184

Though Christina Ferreira sold her beautiful inn, there are many AirBnBs along the river, or you can splurge with a place in Jenner. Start your day at the DM bakery, or visit Cape Fear for the best eggs benedict - instead of the heavy version most of us know, theirs is light and lemony. Stroll the shops and the exceptional Christopher Queen art gallery, where the owner, Nancy (sister to Christina) shows exceptionally dedication to her 10 artists, and curates shows that would make any city gallery owner jealous. End a perfect day with dinner at the Blue Heron - sit in the bar or better yet, out back...locals will make you feel at home and you'll leave with both a full belly and full heart.
