To make matters worse, one tire was installed incorrectly and had to be remounted and rebalanced. For a company handling something as critical as tire installation, that kind of mistake is unacceptable and reflects a serious lack of attention to detail. I was also quoted $99 for TPMS, but the final charge for the TPMS alone was $229. The man who appeared to be the manager repeatedly mentioned honesty and transparency, but the pricing and communication I experienced were anything but. A truly honest quote includes all labor, fees, and additional costs upfront, not surprises after the fact. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the manager was dismissive and uninterested in addressing the problem. That response made it clear that customer service and accountability are not priorities at this location. Meineke advertises honesty, transparency, and customer satisfaction as core values, yet none of these were evident during my visit. I am requesting that a regional or corporate manager review the conduct and practices at this location and contact me regarding corrective action.

I also try to give people the benefit of the doubt, because everybody has bad days. I also endeavor whenever possible not to blame employees for corporate policies that they must abide by. Alot of these dynamics come into play in this review and so the best way to write this is to simply tell my story. I recently was left with a screw in my tire on a Sunday afternoon. I was very happy that the Wal-Mart Auto Service Center in Harrodsburg, KY was open, as other tire stores were not. I suddenly found myself doing something I had sworn over a year ago I would never do. Let's back up. I moved to the area in the fall of 2023. Shortly after moving, I had a tire leaking very slowly. Being new to the area and knowing that Wal-Mart assuredly could help me fix it, I went there. The tire did not have a visible breach. Wal-Mart auto center staff told me that they could not fix the tire because it had broken belts. Of course, they were more than willing to sell me a new tire. I didn't buy this thought process because the tires were fairly new and had not been abused in any manner. Not to mention, I felt that a broken belt in one tire might indicate damage to others. A day later my neighbor referred me to a local tire store. They took the vehicle in, took the tire off and after doing a lot of hunting did indeed find a small "finishing nail" in the tire that was causing a very small, slow leak. They plugged the leak, and I was on my way. They verified for me that the belt was not broken, and I put a few thousand miles on those tires before finally replacing them. At that point, feeling I had been completely lied to at Wal-Mart, I vowed never to return to Wal-Mart Auto Center for tires. Then I found myself in need, and I'll readily admit, Wal-Mart was my only recourse. Out of necessity, I gave them a second chance to help me. I went inside and explained my situation. The guy behind the counter went out and looked at my tire and told me that the puncture was too near the sidewall for him to patch. It was about two inches from the sidewall. I knew full well that a patch might be too close, but that the tire could absolutely be plugged. I was told that wouldn't happen, Wal-Mart only patches tires. Of course, the next line of thinking was that I could replace the tire. Here we go again. Given that this set of tires is wearing out, I considered purchasing all four and having my problem solved. As I live on a dirt lane and a farm, I have always put AT (all terrain) tires on my vehicle. Wal-Mart had only one selection of tire available for my vehicle and it was a highway tread, which I really didn't want. It was lighter and the tread pattern was pretty unassuming. Realizing they weren't going to fix my existing tire, and that they didn't have the tires I wanted to put on my vehicle, I agreed with the young lady at the counter to put a new highway tire on the vehicle in place of the damaged one. I figured on turning that one into a decent spare in the near future and purchasing AT tires elsewhere, as Wal-Mart didn't stock them. I went into Wal-Mart to do other shopping while the tire was installed. After shopping I came back to the counter to see where my service stood and the guy behind the counter said they had cancelled my order. I checked my text messages that I was supposed to be getting on my cell phone and there was nothing regarding a cancellation of my service. I asked why. He said that they were not allowed to put a highway tire on a vehicle that had all terrain tires. I asked what my options were and of course, we were back to "Buy four new ones". I am a farmer, and I've dabbled with a few tires in my day. I understand some of the dynamics associated with mismatched tires, but this was just round number two with Wal-Mart's tire division. I had a friend waiting for me at my house and I called him to tell him why I was delayed. He laughed and said, limp it home. I got a tire plug on my truck. I limped it home and he plugged within about ten minutes of me being home. Drove fifty miles to work today without incident. This is not so much a review as a story, and the customer reading it can make their own decisions as to whether they want to do business with Wal-Mart's tire service center, but I for one will not be back. If I have to have it towed on a Sunday and fixed on Monday, so be it. Wal-Mart's auto service center has lost me as a customer. Make your own decisions based upon my experience.

As I pulled up, I saw there was a pretty long line (2 cars outside each of the 2 bays), so I drove through McD's to grab an iced coffee to drink while I waited. When I returned, a professional gentleman came out to ask what services I was looking for. I told him just an oil change and he informed me that it would be approximately 24 minutes before they could get me in. I had NPR and my iced coffee, so that was fine by me. A few minutes later someone else came out and checked my lights and turn signals. When it was my turn, the entire team was extremely professional and courteous. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need (other than trying to up-sell me to a higher grade of oil), and they told me that if I needed air in my tires or any fluids topped off before my next oil change, that I could stop by any Valvoline. So - why did I take off a star? Even with the $15 off, the oil change was almost $30. If I had gone for the up-sell, it would have been $45 - $60. (So an oil change without a coupon runs $45-$75.) For many people, the level of service they receive here would be totally worth it, but frankly I think I'll drive a few extra miles to my parent's house for a do-it-yourself oil change and save the $ next time. Yep. I'm spoiled that way.

But going to a different location I thought my chances could have been better but I was proven wrong. They are either not properly trained, tired, just don't GAF or all the above. This time they took a significant part from my vehicle and didn't put back on. I didn't even notice 7 months later because that was the next time I needed an oil change. I made a claim and they denied it since they no longer had the footage from then. Alsooo the manager at the time had already been fired, which makes me wonder if it has anything to with what happened to my vehicle along and others. The call with the current manager was a joke as well. Valvoline has proven there is a lack of training, work ethics and poor service. Goes to show Valvoline continues to hire incompetent people and provide shitty service resulting in lost parts and damages. Definitely do not go there or any Valvoline location.
