I reached out the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center in Chicago for a consultation appointment and I couldn't even get in without having to pay for the office visit upfront which was $250. I understand having a co-pay but this is crazy. So I have good insurance that would cover this visit at 100%. How do I know? Because I contacted them prior to a possible appointment. I see specialists all the time and I've never encountered this issue. I asked why I had to pay $250 out of pocket and then try to get reimbursed by my insurance if it's already covered? Seems kind of shady. I was just told that they're specialists and are better trained in this field then others in the area. So...yeah, I don't believe that but what I do believe is that this is a racket and they're definitely putting their bottom line before the needs of patients who are in pain and need the services of a specialist.
