I was recommended by neighbors to Culligan. He gave me the quote on paper and took my card number to "hold" my spot. He finally called back later that afternoon and said he had mixed me up with another customer and that he would "handle it personally".... He was always the only one involved! Lol! He didn't even know what I was having installed. He had zero idea what was going on. I'm done! I've already moved on to someone else. What if I had taken a day off work? I would be out $. Living at Rutgers Village was a disappointing experience. After four years, the complex went from…read morehaving a community vibe to being purely profit-driven and corporate. Laundry costs were raised, and the machines were replaced with smaller units. Rent increased by 8% annually, they closed and filled in the pool, and there are no amenities. The apartments are old garden-style units with outdated and problematic plumbing--our tub was repeatedly filled with sewage due to issues from other units. Management imposed unreasonable policies, like mandating $300K liability renter's insurance (despite the lease not requiring it under threat of you guessed it - fines) and fining residents for lockouts or clogged drains. Noise issues were another nightmare: we had a college student upstairs who partied until 4 AM multiple times a month. It took nearly nine months of complaints before management did anything, and only after we threatened to involve the police. When we moved out, we were hit with a baseless $200 cleaning fee despite leaving the apartment in good condition. If you consider living here, document everything thoroughly because they'll find every opportunity to drain your wallet. Avoid if possible!

I have never encountered such unprofessional and unethical behavior from a property management team…read morein my life. The current management at this complex is not only unresponsive to residents' concerns but has repeatedly demonstrated behavior that is invasive, dishonest, and frankly, discriminatory. One resident's apartment was entered multiple times without permission -- a gross violation of privacy and legal boundaries. Another resident was charged an excessive, unjustified amount during lease renewal, and when questioned, management gave no explanation and simply kept the money. Even more disturbing are the repeated racist remarks and behaviors exhibited by the staff. They do not engage in respectful dialogue. When approached to discuss an issue, they speak and act as if residents are beneath them, dismissing concerns with condescension and aggression. None of the ongoing problems in the building -- from maintenance issues to safety concerns -- are handled in a solution-focused way. Requests are ignored, emails go unanswered, and any attempt at communication is met with hostility. This is not just about bad management -- this is about basic respect, dignity, and legal responsibility, none of which are being upheld here. If you're considering moving here, I urge you to reconsider. No one should have to pay rent to be mistreated in their own home.

I truly can't say enough kind words about them; it's refreshing to work with a company that knows what they're doing, is fair and honest, and is kind and patient every step of the way. Two and a half months later, our appliances are working better and we're using much less soap-- great news for us since we have a septic. I was a loyal customer of Ryan & Company for several years and had an active maintenance contract…read morewith them, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I contacted them regarding a furnace issue that, while intermittent, was serious enough to require attention--especially during the winter months. We have a young child at home, and I made that very clear, along with my concerns about maintaining consistent heat in the house. Their technicians came out multiple times and were unable to diagnose or fix the problem. After several unsuccessful visits, the owner got involved. Initially, he was professional and appeared committed to resolving the issue. However, once it became clear that they couldn't fix the problem, everything changed. Communication completely stopped. No follow-ups. No updates. No accountability. During this time, we repeatedly expressed serious concerns--not just about comfort, but about safety. We were dealing with unreliable heat in the middle of winter, had a young child at home, and even communicated concerns about our pipes potentially freezing while we were away on vacation. Despite this, we were essentially given the runaround and the issue remained unresolved. It's also important to note that the manufacturer was only brought in after we specifically requested it, following multiple unsuccessful service visits by their technicians and the owner. Ultimately, the problem was not fixed by Ryan & Company, but only after the manufacturer became directly involved. That distinction matters. Despite having an active maintenance contract, they stopped sending technicians altogether. The owner refused to speak with me directly to address the situation. Instead of standing behind their service or working toward a resolution, the contract was canceled and a check was mailed for the remaining balance--without any meaningful discussion. To be clear, that cancellation came after repeated failed repair attempts, lack of resolution, and a complete breakdown in communication--not as some isolated or voluntary request. I also strongly disagree with their claim that I was "verbally abusive." Like any homeowner dealing with an ongoing heating issue in the winter--with a child in the home and legitimate concerns about frozen pipes--I was understandably frustrated. Expressing that frustration does not equate to abuse. What's most concerning is the lack of accountability and the way this situation was handled once it became difficult. After years of being a paying customer, this is how they chose to respond. If a company can't fix a problem, that's one thing. But abandoning a long-time customer, cutting off communication, and deflecting blame is unacceptable. In the end, when things got difficult, they didn't fix the problem--they walked away from it.
