From the moment we walked in, it was clear Shadow was in loving hands. She had recently been spayed there, and instead of being afraid, she pranced in like a celebrity -- clearly remembering how well she'd been treated before. Dr. Mackenzie Deviney came in and it was instant mutual adoration: Shadow rubbed, head-butted, and kissed her like an old friend. After x-rays showed a possible constriction, Dr. Deviney recommended a same-day barium test to follow Shadow's digestion from start to finish (yes, from intake to...outtake). The team kept me updated throughout, and when Andy picked her up, we were relieved to hear her intestines were back to normal size and the constriction had resolved. They even gave her anti-nausea meds to help with the vomiting. Shadow came home calm, bandaged with a dainty pink wrap on her little shaved leg, and promptly curled up on the bed like nothing had happened. She was never anxious, never scared -- and for this furmom, that means everything. The care, compassion, and love from the entire team were truly above and beyond. Because I live 30 minutes away and had to rush home to get my dog during peak rush hour traffic, I proactively called ahead to let them know I was running late. Instead of showing any understanding for a working person trying to get medical attention for their pet, they were completely rigid. They strictly enforced a "grace window" policy, entirely dismissing the fact that they still had a full hour left before closing at 6:00 PM. To make matters worse, when we called to ask about payment options, the staff treated my wife with an absolute lack of respect. Their only solutions were entirely unrealistic for the average working person. They flippantly told me to just "reschedule" (which isn't easy when you work until 5:30 PM every day) or suggested I drop my dog off at 7:30 AM and leave her there until 6:00 PM. Why would I trust an establishment to watch my dog all day when they've already made it clear they don't care enough to do what they can to see her? This place operates like a rigid corporate machine, not a veterinary clinic that cares about animals or the people who love them. Koby had a very peaceful passing that my young children could have been part of if I had chosen to have them there. It was nice to let my other dog come in to assess him once he had passed to gain the understanding that he was gone. The peace I have felt after this experience knowing that my dog passed peacefully at home was worth every penny and honestly did not feel overly expensive. We chose not to have his ashes returned and I fully trust that he was treated as lovingly as he could have been in this situation.
