We have had a boat slip at Howard's Point Marina for the last 3 year's and couldn't be happier. This is by far the best marina on Lake Minnetonka and it's not even close! Bill runs a great place and all the folks who work there are helpful, courteous, and just really good people. Howard's is a full service marina with boat slips, storage, fuel, boat rentals (pontoon and fishing), snacks, ice, and bathrooms. Many times we find ourselves just hanging out in our slip, boat watching, grabbing a pizza from their pizza oven, enjoying a cocktail, and watching the beautiful sunset. We absolutely enjoy our summers here on the lake and feel very fortunate that we get to do that at Howard's. Cheers to many more years to come. read more

Overall great experience!! The staff here were super friendly, helpful, and informative. I loved their policies and their flexibility. It's a bit expensive but would probably do an 8 hour day instead of 5 next time just because the lake is so big, that 5 hours went very fast. When we checked out the portable toilet, the toilet paper was absolutely disgusting and that is why there's a ding to what could have been a 5 star rating. The boat worked great though and loved how spacious it was! We had the 30' tritoon and it was great. Would definitely rent with them again! read more

First time renting a pontoon from this location and was not disappointed! We had a large group (14 people) and rented the largest pontoon. We called in advance with questions and the staff was helpful with answering any concerns we had. The boat was clean and had Bluetooth connection for us to play music. The day ended up getting really rainy, but we were able to get a refund for all the time we weren't able to be on the water due to weather. Friendly staff, with rentable pontoons for a nice day on Minnetonka. Gas is included. A little tough to find but a good GPS will get you there. On a recent group outing - the staff was very helpful, went over the rules of the lake, answered my questions patiently. Easy return - step off the boat and head right to your car. They sell some supplies - snacks, bait, drinks in the rental store. Pontoons are a little dated but they said they are replacing some of the fleet next year. The better of the two places I've rented from! Stop in Excelsior on your way home for an unwind after your day on the lake! read more

I have been a customer for a couple years now and never been so disappointed in a management staff. The staff was great, but when I had a concern about an incident in their parking lot, I contacted the manager and he let me down. I had sent an email asking him to check their cameras in the parking lot because someone dinged my vehicle pretty badly. He told me he would check it the following Monday. I also called and he told me he would get to it soon. However, it has been about 4 weeks and I sent follow up emails and no response. A simple 5-10 minutes is all I ask for. It shows that customers are not that important unless we are renting a boat. We might consider looking elsewhere next year. read more

Absolutely amazing service and very attentive to all customers. Pontoon was very spacious and accommodating to all passengers coming at different times (rented a 30 feet pontoon all day or 8 hours). Everyone had a great time and process to rent was so easy. Got many confirmations of our reservation and help launching the pontoon each time we docked. I called a month ago talked to someone about renting one of their boats and the guy said he'd put a soft reservation down. Called back the next day to book and wasn't able to get a hold of anyone so I left a message. After a month of calling every other day I finally got a hold of someone, just to tell me that they were booked. I guess leaving a message for them doesn't mean shit. And thanks to Howard's Point, I felt like the cool yougins chillin' at the Lake... except we begged them to tell us about places away from Big Island because we had no intentions of staring at freshly 21-year-olds drinking on mom and pop's boat. In order to fit 12-plus chicks on a boat for a bachelorette party, we called up Howard's Point and rented out a pontoon for Friday afternoon, 1-5. This was probably thee best bachelorette party ever thrown (thanks to the awesome bridesmaid... ahem.. me included). They had someone help us load up all the food and booze (no kegs allowed). They had someone show us exactly how to use the boat. They had someone show us what islands would be appropriate for girls our age (you know, the older ones that typically wear a one-piece). All of this was available for a lovely and affordable price of around $250, and it included gas... but it did not include the damage deposit, which will run you another $500. This place could be a little hard to find, since it's a hidden gem, so make sure to have your GPS system on hand. Also, the parking can get filled up pretty quick, so try and get there a little earlier. Unlike Andy Sandberg, you won't be ridin' dolphins, doin' flips and $hit, but as he put it, "I'm on a boat and, it's goin fast and I got a nautical themed pashmina afghan I'm the king of the world, on a boat like Leo If you're on the shore, then you're sho' not me-oh." Im on a boat with my flippy floppies. Great little boat, with a pop up bathroom, grill, nice seating and a little table. The staff was great, friendly and helpful, they even give you a map of the lake. We had the greatest time of all. I would say that even though it says the boat fits 20, I would cap it at 12-14. read more

I've kept my boat in a slip at Howards Pt now for 3 years and they've been a great marina. Very clean, always helpful and they do a great job monitoring the marina 24x7. You can store your trailer there for the summer for a reasonable price unlike other expensive marina's on the lake. They also have a boat launch which is rarely busy, and putting in on the SW side of the lake is a little better than the crowded east side. They also offer winter storage for boats (outside), but they've been full the last few years. read more

We've been launching our boat half a dozen times a season here for years and today for the first time we were turned away because the manager decided they were not allowing anyone but seasonal pass holders to launch for concern that there wouldn't be enough parking for everyone. We came to rent out one of their boats but someone had already reserved the last one but had yet to show up. They said that if those people didn't show up by a certain time, they would let us know. We waited in the car, seeing that the workers saw us waiting. We waited until the time was up for the boat and it would now be open to first come first serve. We then talked to them and they said the people who had reserved it already came. They didn't even let us know when that happened as we gave them our number to let us know if the boat was available or not. They never bothered to let us know and had us waiting like idiots. We rented a pontoon from Howard's Pt. on July 31st, 2015 and were pleasantly pleased! The boat held 16 of us very comfortably and had a bathroom too! The check in team was efficient and the dock employees were super nice and friendly! They made the whole experience very easy and fun! If you are looking around at various marinas for boat rental. Make sure you go with these guys before you go with Minnetonka Boat Club or Rockvam. I called both Rockvam and Minnetonka Boat Club and they both belittled me for my dumb questions, I was shocked at how rude they were. I then called Howards Point and they took care of me and were incredibly polite. If you compare reviews from both sites, you will see that a lot of other people agree with what I am saying. read more
