Each time we have communicated with this office we have hit, what seems like, a wall. The administrative staff are rude and attempt to be authoritative and cold. Any efforts made by them are efforts to stall and put patients off. I spoke with E**** this afternoon and explained a dire situation for my sister. By the end of the call we had an understanding that I would bring the new patient paperwork up there and schedule their next available appointment. I clocked out of work and drive my sister to their office. We were met with a very unprofessional E**** and a poor work ethic. I clarified for her that I was the woman she just spoke to on the phone and here's the new patient paperwork. She replies "I'm not going to skip everyone else and give you an appointment". Shocked, I told her my sister needed infusion and this provider was important to this process. She told me "take her to the ER. I'll call you next Monday or Tuesday".

After four years of suffering I finally challenged Dr. Sam and told him I thought it was a skin mite problem and he promptly diagnosed me with imagining bugs !Now it is permanently in my medical records and so forever tainted the way that the entire Medical community deals with me . I cannot get adequate treatment because of this misdiagnosis! Is it coincidental that when Dr. Sam did that to me, he had very recently lost his license to write class three prescriptions? You can look it up online! Meanwhile, I'm finally getting better now that I know what's going on, and I have thousands of scars all over my body ,many health problems that came along with this infestation. hDr. Armitage inability to listen, investigate and diagnose properly has put my life at risk for such a long time ! Ms. Sandy was still near Mason when he fainted as he was leaving the office. Between Ms. Sandy and Nurse Tracey, they were able to guide him to the floor, avoiding a head injury. The two superheroes then were able to place Mason who is 6 feet tall and weighs in at 175 lbs. Into a therapy recliner. After waiting in the car, I ventured in to ask for a charge cord and found everyone in the treatment room, Ms. Sandy said that he was dehydrated and when he stood up, his blood pressure dropped significantly. Nurse Tracey and Ms. Sandy had him hooked up to an IV in less than a minute using a pediatric needle because his veins were so flattened due to dehydration. I know in my heart that if he had been anywhere other than near Ms. Sandy, his well-being would have been much different. I truly praise both of these women and the receptionist for recognizing his condition, maneuvering him to the ground, lugging him into a recliner, and providing fluids so quickly. He was as weak as a kitten but I had confidence in Ms. Sandy and he responded well. Mason already loved Ms. Sandy and the team at Valjoy Beachcare but now, we all do! Her demeanor, her brilliance regarding medical knowledge, and her compassion for all of her patients are traits that are hard to find. We are so lucky to have her and her team in our community. The front desk staff is amazing. The lab ladies are awesome. There are some exceptional nurses here. I wasn't completely satisfied with the way that my care was managed by the first practitioner and am now much happier after an easy switch. This office made that change easy and guilt-free. Referrals have been an issue in the past as both times I was referred elsewhere, it took many weeks to months to be seen. There was also an issue with not getting a returned call from the nurse but this appears to have an isolated incident. These appear to be the consequence of the pandemic. Overall I am happy that my family is here and recommend this practice. We feel well cared for by Tabitha, a HCP who listens and is patient, and her nurse.

Finding a local doctor who can accommodate you during crisis as well as an excellent diagnostician is a hard find to begin with. Lucky for me a family member highly recommended Dr. Karen Wood. Dr. Wood welcomed me into her practice and her nurse Angela is always so welcoming, funny, such a pleasure to be around and thorough. Together, along with the rest of the medical and office staff, Melissa, Karin, Monica, Kristina and Dee, this team is second to none. An example of their, "Above and beyond" approach is when I needed support locally to participate in a clinical trial for the prevention of cancer reoccurrence. I would have to fly to St. Louis from NC every month for 3 months. I needed to be checked 15 days after the vaccine was administered and couldn't fly back for that. I also wanted to avoid driving to Duke Medial (7 hrs round trip) were my Oncologist is. The clinical trial Director approved Dr. Wood to oversee the exams in between visits. Angela, Dr. Wood's nurse jumped through hoops getting all the necessary paperwork processed. When something didn't show up, she was on it. I can't thank her enough for all that she did for me. Also, a special thanks and loads of gratitude to Dr. Wood for agreeing to all this and always having my back. I highly recommend Dr. Wood and her Family Medical Center.
