This rather simple but sensibly designed skate park is located at the southeast corner of Hove lagoons by the children's playground. For a council-built park it's not that bad and actually has the potential for some nice lines. However, its simplicity and smallish size mean the most frequent users tend to be grommets and young chavs. Subsequently experienced skaters are likely to get frustrated during its busiest times, which usually correspond with out-of-school hours. In terms of layout most of the ramps are placed in suitable positions, which is more than I can say for most council jobs. With a midi-ramp, a fun box, two large flat banks, a quarter pipe, a flat rail and a manual pad it's not badly stocked and the smooth cement surface means it's a joy just to cruise around. Being made from mettle, the ramps themselves quite slippery when even slightly wet and therefore don't suit aggressive styles. All in all though it's a pretty place to practice and while it doesn't rival the size and layout of the Level Skate Park, it's certainly in better shape. read more
