Tyring, MD, PhD and my experience was good previously. I take Skyrizi for severe psoriasis and I had been going here for years without issues until now. I would go in yearly and do a checkup and bloodwork and they would send and renew my prescriptions. My office switched our Insurance from Blue Cross to United Healthcare So I called they to update and they said wouldn't send the prescription as I haven't been in a while which is fine, so if I came in to get a checkup and see the doctor, then they would send the prescription for me. I said, okay, I made and went to the appointment on 10-28-2025 Tuesday 1:30 P.M. and paid for the $100.00 Appointment While there, they said we need you to go to quest for bloodwork and then as soon as your labs are back, we will send the prescription for you. So, I went to quest ASAP the same day and got the bloodwork. ((( Every year they check for Tuberculosis, Hepatitis A, B, and C ))) Quest sent the results over and I received the results, and I am negative as usual. A week went by and so, I started calling to check up to see if they had sent it, and for the next 2 weeks I only got voicemail. Then on 11-17-2025 I got a call that they were under new management, and I had to come see the doctor and do everything all over again, because my appointment 3 weeks ago didn't count. I got upset, drove straight there complaining, and told them this was not right and, I wanted a refund or them to send my prescription. So, they let me fill out all the new information for the takeover and updated all of my records, and they said they would send the prescription. So, we have been trying to get this done and apparently every time they send the prescription it is inadequate information and it keeps getting denied. So they were somewhat sending it, but leaving off my diagnosis, etc... so it would get denied. Then I had the company insurance rep send an email letting them know what the issue was and how they could resolve it, and trying to check up and check back but with no responses. Her and myself had made many calls and sent many emails. I have left voicemails again and again asking if they have sent the PA request and if they were able to send the complete information. Then on 12/08/2025 I just got a call from a Maggie at this office, and she said I need to come in for a follow up and pay again, before I can get my Skirizi sent as we are under new management. I told her NO Y'all are trying the same thing again and this is not right!!! She said Well it has been two months now since your last appointment, and I told her yes and Ya'll still have not correctly sent in PA or my prescription! Then she said Well you need to do your labs, and I told her I did them the same day, and you already have the results. Then she said Well you need to make an appointment so the doctor can discuss your labs with you!!! Then I told her there is not reason to discuss the fact that I don't have Hepatitis A, B, C, or Tuberculosis! I told her no, and this is wrong, we don't need to discuss how I dont have Hepatitis A, B, C, and I am reporting this to the medical board. Then on 12/9/2025 the Office Manager Selena called me and they were going to provide a fee sample of the medication and told me they would not charge me to come in for the free sample injection. Today on 12/16/2025 I went in as they scheduled it for today. Then they tried to make me pay $100 again and I refused, they would not give me the sample or inject it either way, and they denied me my medication for the last time! I ask have, you even sent my prescription in again at all, and they said no we tried before but it got denied; do you want us to attempt it again? I said well you keep sending in blank or unfilled out and so it gets denied. They would not give me the sample as previously stated. So, I am done for sure and have reported this office to the Medical Board. Basically money hungry scammers, that have no idea how to run the office anymore, send a PA, and they really don't give a crap. Everytime Ivwent up there someone else was asking for the complaint box as well, or talking about how bad it is now!!! Thier response will be full of lies. You should not have to pay for multiple office visits to fill one perscriptiin. read more

I love the doctors but the office staff needs to be replaced. I have bern put on terminal hold three times only to never be returned back to. Ive left messages and received zero call back. I'm not sure how to get an appointment rescheduled other than driving there in person. Please hire more competent office staff or get back up help. This is not good for your business. read more

The facility has been one of many to assist me in my lifelong battle against atopic dermatitis. I appreciate several of the good things HSA did for me and wish they could improve in certain aspects. In terms of positives, I like the customer service, the cleanliness, and the accessibility. I can count on the place when my skin is on its wit's end and I need help (appointments at UTMB are hard to come by). For my recent appointment last week, I was seen by Gurjeet Basra, a physician's assistant. She was really friendly, cordial, and informative. Dr. Basra took her time despite what seemed to be a busy afternoon. I cross my fingers that the follow-up is just as good. Also, Mercedes, the nurse who first received me, did an excellent job putting me at ease given it was five years since I last set foot here. HSA gets three stars at the moment because I'm waiting to see how I fare with this new medication prescribed to me by Dr. Basra called Dupixent. I'll update the review with either good or bad news. read more

Dr. Stephen Tyring is a dinosaur who is only there to push accutane no matter your medical history. The system must be just as ancient as Dr. Tyring because blood test results seem to just get forgotten and trying to retrieve them and finally get your medications is like pulling teeth. If you do choose this office for your dermatological needs, go with Dr. Paige Hoyer. Overall though, I DO NOT recommend it. read more

As a pale girl in a sunny climate, I fear the sun. OK, maybe not the sun, but defnitely sunburns and skin cancer. So, I love my dermatologist office and how helpful they are! I was seen by a doctor for skin checks (moles or any abnormalities) and given a prescription for Rosacea. I was also seen by someone from the "spa" end of their services for laser treatment. Pretty cool for that of all to be wrapped up in my appt. read more

I had an appointment today and by my past history my Medicare supplement paid the remainder of my bill 100% in February. They had no trouble cashing the check! I was told they do not accept my supplement even though Medicare automatically sends them the bill. I was also told my supplement is a Medicaid supplement. I pay good money each month for this wonderful supplement. No filing necessary for Houston Skin Associates. They wanted 20 % and when I refused and told them I was leaving, all they had to say was good bye. I will never go back there again and I have been a patient for at least 10 years. read more

I came to Dr. Sra for Botox for the first time. Her assistant Crystal explained everything so well and really put my worries at ease. Dr. Sra did such a great job that I could barely feel the injections at all. I will definitely be back and I do appreciate both of you calming my nerves! There was nothing to fear! read more

It took over an hour to be seen, for what was a 5 minute visit with Dr Sra. The girl assisting Dr Sra seemed like she didn't know what she was doing.. I am a new patient w/Dr Sra & have met w/her twice so far. She came highly recommended but I am disappointed. She is very efficient but lacking in bed side manners & taking time to ask about concerns for her patients. It' seems it's all about your procedure getting done as quickly as possible & moving on to the next patient. Ask how many patients she sees a day? I was shocked! I think she may be a good Dr but taking a little more time w/her patient's concerns & expressing concern should be a priority as well. read more

I recently moved to the area & have had a couple of visits to HSA. They went well and I didn't have any negative experiences. I did like the way the cosmetic side is also available. I had a very scary malignant melanoma removed in 1991, so I wouldn't have stayed with them if they hadn't done a thorough check head to toe. I don't remember ever having to wait long or anyone being rude. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a good dermatologist. read more

First time customer. Had an appointment and arrived about 10 minutes early. My wife came with me. We Walked up to the check in area and a heavy set Hispanic lady greeted us with her first words, " you need to put a mask on and only 1 person in the office'. I can respect the mask issue just because most medical facilities feel the need to make people feel protected even though it doesn't work. However the guy checking out next to us didn't t have one on. So I questioned the lady about my wife going back with me because there is a disturbing spot on my back that my wife found. Obviously I haven't seen it or can I point it out on my back. She didn't care and She had a sh**ty attitude. After explaining it she still said only the patient can go back. I became pretty frustrated as Hospitals and other medical facilities I have been to recently allow more then the patient back. To keep from completely speaking out of emotion, I went outside to speak to my wife. My wife went back inside to try to explain to her again the circumstances and she didn't care. It's a shame for the Doctors and possible other employees there that this woman will eventually tear down a business. Anyone that has to start their visit with that attitude will walk out just as I did. Receptionist can make or break a business. My solution would have been to speak with the Doctor I was assigned to see and explain the circumstances. Maybe something else could have been done to accompany my circumstance. I will never know because she didn't care. Don't waste your time going here when there are other skin facilities around. read more

Had to wait over a month for an appointment but no big deal. Never received any msg or call the day before or day of my appointment so I called 1hr before my appointment to verify it and nobody answered. I called twice and left a msg and nothing. I leave work early and walk in their bldg to be told the doctor is no longer with this clinic and it was up to their staff to tell me. Sitting behind the counter were 4 people with phones and computers. Not sure why they didn't answer or call people back. read more

My comment is about Dr. Sra. She was very unfriendly and the appointment seemed rushed. It appears this is her demeanor and will be the downfall of the entire clinic. I came in today for an appointment and she was only in the room 2-3 minutes. When I asked her to repeat my condition, She repeated as if I was bothering her. The nurse or assistant who brought me into the room provided more help and insight than the damn doctor. Because of today's visit I'm questioning rather it not I should return to this facility. Her assistant who saw me first made me feel rushed and then when Dr. Sra came in she answered my questions in a very brief and short matter as well! You do not get a warm welcoming vibe here. Instead you feel like you are a pain in the ass and hurry up and get on with it! At first I thought maybe since it was the Friday before New Year's Eve, they were rushing to get out early. Dr. Tyring has the WORST bedside manner, as a new patient you want to feel some what welcomed; the doctor didn't even look up from my chart or say hello etc , just walked in as said "so you have some sort of rash" then gave a glance at my leg and gave a diagnosis. He literally spent all of 5 seconds in the room. I didn't even have a chance to ask questions or have him look at other areas on my skin. There is very little parking. I spent more time in the waiting room than in the appointment. They will only address 3 issues at a time and require an additional appointments to address any others. Dr. Sra was kind enough to get me in to see her esthetician (Randee) at the last minute. Randee was right on time. She was very professional and friendly. I LOVE the Teamine eye cream that was recommended to me. The office is beautiful--reminds me of a spa (rather than a doc's office). read more

Dr. Tyring at the webster office is awesome! He was so nice and listened to all of our concerns and answered all of our questions. He is willing to be very proactive to clear up my daughter's acne. I would give him 5 stars, but the reason I only gave four stars is due to the receptionist that checked us in. She was very rude to us about my daughter having me go back with her for the appointment. Since my daughter is 19, she said I was not allowed to go back. I explained that my daughter is still my dependent and on my insurance and wanted me to go with her. I also told her that I would wear my mask and that I was fully vaccinated for covid. She still refused. She offered no alternative for me going back either such as telemedicine. She refused to ask the doctor as well. She rudely told me that I had to wait in my car (after she took my credit card for payment). Once my daughter went back with the nurse, she kindly asked if I could come in. The nurse was very nice and went and asked Dr. Tyring, and he allowed it. My daughter called me and I went back. Upon check out, the same receptionist checked us out. She was very short with us and rude. I feel very strongly that the first face you see in an office should be one that is welcoming. This lady was on no way welcoming or inviting. I went to Houston Skin Associates because my PCP wanted me to have a mole on my face examined. I have a high deductible on my insurance so when I paid for my office visit I was very clear that I wanted to be told up front the cost of any procedure. The mole was normal, but the doctor asked if I would like it frozen. I elected to do so thinking that it would be part of the office visit. I have had warts frozen by my PCP and was never charged extra. I did not think to ask the doctor if there was an additional charge because I had already stated to the staff that I was to be notified UP FRONT of any additional charges. When I went to check out they told me it would be $150. I explained my prior discussion with the staff to the lady at billing. All agreed that I had made that statement. The billing lady discussed it with several others and told me they would make a consideration and only charge me $50. They were apologetic and said that they would try not to let that happen again. They also said that if I didn't pay it I would be billed. So, I get to pay $50 for their lesson in interoffice communication? I could not have been clearer in my desire to be told about costs ahead of time. I paid the $50 because I did not want a negative item on my credit report. read more

I called to make an appointment with the nurse Amanda and the girl that answered the phone didn't even let me tell her who I needed to make an appointment with and said they were all booked and hung up on me. I called back to make an appointment and found out Amanda is no longer with them. She is the only person I liked in that office and now that she is no longer with them I will be taking my business elsewhere. 1 star only because negative stars aren't an option. I came here and got gouged $400 for a biopsy. They scheduled a follow up visit 2 weeks later to remove the stitches and tell me the results but the stitches got infected before my follow up so I had to get another appt at a different place on short notice. Then when I called to get my results since I don't physically need to go back in they at first decline to give me the results then tell me that they won't tell me how to treat whatever they found. After my visit, I was told that my prescriptions had been sent to the pharmacy, but when I showed up, they said that there was no order placed. So I called and left several messages with the staff--voicemails, spoke with several different nurses, and finally had to resort to emailing the doctor-- but I got zero responses. After a WEEK later, someone from the office called me and said, "I just got your message". I said that I had been trying to reach them for a week, her response was, "What do you want?" (So much for actually READING my message). If you want to deal with staff who hate their job and take it out on clients, this is the place for you. read more

It's been a couple of months since my appointment but I'm lazy about reviewing...anyways. Problematic from the get-go!! The chick at the check in couldn't find the appointment that I booked on their website. I wanted to have a consultation with a spa services person, was told she was busy and I could see the doctor instead. After a short wait I went in to see Dr. Sra. Right off the bat unfriendly, seemed like she didn't even wanted to be there. Told her about my concerns, mentioned about wanting laser treatments, she said.... YEAH, THEY'RE GOOD. For real? She never once inspected my skin other than looking at me from her chair. So moving along I brought up some questions about pigmentation that I have had my whole life. Her response.... If you've had that discoloration your whole life there is nothing you can do about it. It won't respond to any treatment. Dare I ask one more question? - What would you recommend? Without hesitation she replied Vampire Facial. Oh really. How convenient that you just so happen to recommend the most "popular" facial procedure. (Thanks Kim Kardashian!) So yeah. This woman said 3 sentences to me. Then to top it all off my out of pocket consultation was more expensive because I saw the doctor even though I only wanted to see a spa chick.
