Broken and rusted back-brace before Houston Powder Coating Refurbishment.

A Diamond in the Rough ! If you are looking for a quality company to refurbish your old patio set and return it to better than new (Yes, better than new !), Houston Powder Coaters are the people to call. Polite receptionist, on-time pick-up and return, a beautiful job of attaching missing foot pads and loose braces, and a magnificent cleaning, priming and painting job.

We had a cast iron bistro table and two cast aluminum chairs refinished and couldn't be happier. It like having brand new, especially the chairs with all new rocker attachments. Selected the color Rubbed Bronze and it is perfect. We knew we didn't want flat black. We went into the company to select the color because my old eyes found it a difficult choice to make on the spot at time of pickup.

    Flaw

One of the managers in the office told me that the paint they used for touch ups was the same color as the beam, and that in his eyes and his company standards mark this flaw as a pass and not reject. He wouldn't take the time to fix or acknowledge the fact that something was wrong and needed to be corrected. I'm not satisfied with the quality of work or the customer service.

He was always available through calls and texts, and even sent me progress pictures. He is a far drive for me, but I will definitely be back to complete some other enhancements on my vehicle! I had shopped around and decided to go with him not only because he quoted me around $1000 less than other places, but also because he is known for his flawless paint matching and quality of work. When I went to pick up my vehicle, he mentioned that I can bring it back after 2 months or so and he would help me buff it out since the clear coat can start coming off since it needs to cure. So, I brought it back and he completely buffed out both panels he had worked on.

I reached out to him to find out what he would charge to fix my wheels because they cause vibrate at speeds over 60 mph. I reached out to a couple of other businesses to have this done, and their prices were much higher, and I had no prior experience with them therefore, I decided to go with the company that I have had previous experience. Initially, I was going to leave my car so that he could do both wheels the same day and pick up my car tomorrow but I think I'll have him do both and per our conversation he should have them ready tomorrow. I have used Atlas twice in the past couple years. My first experience was very good. My current…read moreexperience is highly disappointing due to the return shipping process. I sent 2 full size classic car bumpers to them, I prepared boxes that would house the bumpers on the way to them with the proper padding and protection. They ruined the boxes to return the bumpers after replating. This required making new cardboard boxes for which I instructed them to use heavy cardboard along with bubble wrapping. I was very explicit in the fact that they had to keep a certain dimension and weight the same as the boxes I sent them. that UPS will find you if you don't report the proper length width depth, and weight. They were 100% communicated to on that before they started building new boxes. They requested that I set up the shipping and email them the labels so basically I'm taking responsibility for paying the shipper UPS and sending them the labels. Which I did and I requested specific sizes from them because with UPS if you report in your request for tags to ship a certain size and then send the wrong sizes and weights you will get fined heavily if audited. The one bumper was oversize so I accepted the fact that it was and it cost $300 plus for me to send that bumper, the other one was $100 as the shipping size and weight they sent me is what I used to create the labels. Upon getting the boxes, I got a correction from UPS that they sent the wrong dimensions. They had measured it wrong. It was longer and wider than what they specified to me when I sent the labels. This caused a $275 additional fee because of the overage. However, the shipping onus was on them as they are the ones who measured the boxes and sent me the dimensions. Upon sending them the notice from UPS TO pay the $275. I was told sorry we sent the right dimensions, I still have the THEY BUILT with the wrong dimensions and they still will not refund that money which is my opinion is 100% their responsibility. That just tells me the integrity of the company is minimal at because they sent the numbers. I use the numbers as they sent and agent named Sean, ( The whole text conversation is on his phone and my phone is when you try to call won't answer. They communicate simply by text, nobody will talk to you.) text with all the information and all the numbers on his phone so there's nothing to dispute other than the fact, they just refuse to pay for something that they made a mistake on. it's quite disturbing that a company you spend 2900 dollars to plate two bumpers as roaming with refuses to take responsibility for their actions that cost you another almost $300 And by the way the charged me another 70.00 to build the boxes after they ruined the ones I sent to them!! All I can tell you is beware, they could own up to it and refund the $275 and all would be good in the world but no, that's not gonna happen, they refuse to take responsibility for it so I'm writing this so other people can be aware. Of course Atlas will respond saying I sent bad boxes, however his associate Sean said they left them outside and the got wet.. not bad boxes but bad practices. Then of course they will respond saying they used a correct size box and UPS simply measured wrong, however I sent them pics of the box ends with a tape measure attached so that debunks that nonsense. Bottom line is they measured the boxes, gave me bad info and I got another charge because of there incompetence to simply measured wrong correctly. Funny when I sent the bumpers They arrives perfectly intact and it cost me 170.00 to send, when they sent them back after ruining my boxes the shipping after correction was 700.00, but it's not there fault. I have noticed one thing in there response to any negative info on Yelp, Alex ALWAYS blames the other party, calls there items junk and what not. Integrity isn't his thing. I surely will not go broke getting hosed by him, just so you are aware.. try a different plating company.

I was so glad I found a plating shop that was willing to do small orders!…read moreI had a vintage bicycle headset that needed to be nickel plated against the hawaiian salt air and Atlas was able to put a thick coat of nickel on all 3 pieces. the turn around was also very quick and I'm very happy with their communication and work, they were even able to ship it via the carrier I requested.
