They appear to be a fraudulent operation from my experience in Sugar Land. They provide no test results in order to push people towards surgery or more testing. They won't show you your actual results because they likely dont actually test your samples. Needs to be investigated by the AG. The Sugar Land location is a health hazard! Nasty. I made an appointment with Dr. Shiffman, by request of another provider due to having an elevated PSA level in my blood work. The initial appointment went well and on time. He examined me and recommended that I should get a 'pelvic MRI' to due to the possibility of prostate cancer. His assistant Cynthia told me that they would forward the referral to the MRI clinic for me. I was pleased with the experience when I left the clinic. I made the appointment with the MRI clinic that Cynthia told me to. Two days before the MRI appointment, I was contacted by the MRI clinic and told that my insurance company "denied the referral" from Dr. Shiffman's office. The MRI clinic directed me back to Dr. Shiffman's office to 're-write' or otherwise reattempt the referral process. I contacted Cynthia and informed her of this news. She told me that she would submit another referral to the MRI clinic and insurance company. I waited a week and did not hear back before I reached back out to Houston Metro Urology. The receptionist listened to me and assured me that she would see that Cynthia took care of it. I waited another week before I called back again. The receptionist was surprised that Cynthia had not called me back or resolved the referral matter yet for me and assured me once again that this would be a priority that Cynthia would take care of this week. I then waited three weeks before I called Houston Metro Urology once again. The receptionist was able to verify all of my previous calls and acknowledged that the matter was referred back to Cynthia as a priority three times. She assured me that I would get a call and that the matter would be resolved within 24 hours. Once again 48 hours later and still nothing from Dr. Shiffman's assistant Cynthia. I am still uncertain if I have prostate cancer or not and just wasted over a month of possible early detection. Today I decide to just start over with another Urologist and clinic. Thank you HMU for taking my co-pay and then doing nothing to improve or diagnose my condition. Good-bye. read more

I came here for a concern regarding testosterone. Had been experience a very noticeable change over a 2 year period. My doctor did some blood work and said I should visit with a urologist. I REALLY regret coming here. Despite being in network and calling in advance. They said they wouldn't accept my insurance and needed to pay out of pocket the full amount. Something like 150-200$. Decided I wanted to resolve this now for several reasons. Doctor met with me for a whopping 5 minutes. Looked at my blood work and asked what symptoms I was having (fatigue, weight gain, loss of sexual drive, etc). "How long has this been going on?" I answered 2 years. "Well let's give it 3 more months and see how you feel". And that was it. I was pretty shocked. Should have asked for a refund then and there. But I've learned to not let impulses take control. When they rescheduled they made an emphasis about failure to reschedule within 24 hours would result in a fee. Well low and behold when the 3 months had come around they called me the afternoon before my appointment to tell me that they would need to reschedule my appointment because the doctor had to perform a surgery during my window! Unprofessional on a several levels. 1-bad planning. 2-double standards. 3-what kind of doctor decides he's better equipped to handle an operation (other than a vasectomy which shouldn't bump my appointment) over a surgeon? To top this all off they email me like crazy and will not honor my requests to unsubscribe. Find someone else. read more

For the west Houston location. A lady from Dr. Hananel's office called me saying it was to make an appointment. She asked me my name I gave it to her then she yelled at me I need just your last name now what is your last name then I had to spell it about 5 times and then she took my first name and the whole call was like that. She was just yelling at me. On the appointment, she gave a day but no time and kept repeating the day until I finally said yes but needed a time. Then she started talking baby talk to me to belittle me as during the call she kept saying Mrs. Amiri I am trying to make an appointment with you. But she wasn't - no appointment was made. It was nothing but a harassing call. Finally, she just hung up on me. I called the office and told the person who answered that I wanted that call pulled. The person said she could have the office manager call me. The office manager never called. I had made the decision to never see Dr, Hananel since he stands harassment of his patients. About two weeks later I received a text message from his office saying I needed to make an appointment. I did not make one. Today I received a call from the office saying that I owed $50. for a no-show. They are charging for a no-show when no appointment was made. I am very much aware that is illegal. And no one at the office will help me with it. . They need to show no charge because I never made an appointment so there cannot have a no-show. There has been another development A lady called from the office today (9/8/22) she said the no-show was from a long time before but the collection woman from the billing office that called yesterday said August 3. The last time I saw Dr. Hananel was in April and I made no appointment after that and Aug 3 was after April so no that was an appointment I never made. and did not know about. But she said she would waive the $50. for the no-show which is only right since I did not make that appointment and it is wrong to set appointments that patients don't make and then charge them for not showing. So that was taken care of but she was dishonest about it which I do not appreciate. Another change has taken place. On 0/10/22 after I was told the false charge of $50. for a no-show for an appointment, I never made an appointment in Aug that I never made was waved they send me a bill for it. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! If you can avoid this facility please do, you will waste your time and money! I was referred here by my primary physician, I was told on my first appointment that I would need to pay for my procedure at time of service. 2 weeks later ON the day of my procedure I received a phone call that I would be getting a $250 late fee for not paying in advance. We solved the problem and I ended up going in for my procedure as scheduled. After getting prepped for the procedure the Doctor walks in and tells as im laying butt naked that he did not have time and would have to RESCHEDULE with no explanation on why. NOT ONLY DID THEY CANCEL AFTER I WAS PREPPED AND READY BUT THEY ALSO MISSPELLED MY NAME IN ALL OF MY PAPERWORK. The nurses and staff were pleasant but Dr Mehta was extremely rude and unprofessional. Dear customers, be careful with this facility. I recently had a surgery there and before the surgery they gave me a cost of 1000.00 for the surgery and informed me they were in network. After a month I have my insurance saying they were out of network and the total cost of 23,000.00 could be charged directly to me. I give two stars because of the billing issue. Note that this is a financial issue, not a medical one. The bill ended up over 9X of the co-pay. The clinic failed to ask for the referral when (1) the appointment was scheduled, (2) I visited the clinic, and (3) the claim failed due to the lack of referral. I was not noticed by any means until the bill was issued, which was long after a retro-referral was possible. When the final bill with over 9X copay came out, I called for more information, but the front desk told me she did not handle such issues and someone in charge of that would call me back. No one called or emailed. Instead another bill of the same amount was sent again. After many hours of unfruitful negotiation with the insurance company, I had no choice but to settle the bill with the clinic. The amount I paid besides the copay was still a three-digit figure. I sense a lot of disorganization on the clinic side about insurance coverage and claim, which should be made clear to every patient before any treatment. I didn't find about other similarly unfortunate cases beforehand. But here at Yelp, you can refer to the comments from other patients such as Andrio G. and Boris P. at Highland Village. I suggest you do some proper research before making your choice. I have to make it clear that the doctor I visited at HMU was very kind and helpful, and he deserves the best comment possible. Also one member of the staff was really helpful in setting the bill. Two stars are for them. But I can't say the same to the rest of the clinic staff. I do not think patients should be treated with such an asymmetry of insurance information. I would highly NOT recommend them at all. Terrible service and customer service. I had an appointment with them 2 months ago, I was sent to do some tests and I still don't have my results!! it's been 2 months and still no results, every time I call them, they say someone will call you back and I never get a call back. Also they are liars!!! Today I was told that the doctor and nurse practitioners are the ones that need to go over the results with me & both are with patients and they will call me back, I asked to speak to them NOW and 2 minutes later I was told they are GONE for rest of the day and someone will call me back Monday. Dr Sutton and nurses were fantastic. The facility is divided between Procedures and diagnostics. I needed to have both. Unfortunately these two offices which are attached and share the same name do not communicate with each other. I was called the day before my procedure to move up my time. I was told they would coordinate with diagnostics. Suffice to say the didn't coordinate and I was left waiting for 90 minutes. In addition when you arrive you are not sure which facility to park in. I went 42 consecutive days for prostate cancer radiation treatment. This is after having to have a colonoscopy and massive laxative treatment. I also lost equivalent time in my professional career from having to drive across town for those 42 days. Result? IT DID NOT WORK! Now, I am having to have Lupron shots to bring down my high PSA. Very pleased with the professionalism that was exhibited by doctors and staff at both the Richmond and Fannin location. Had major surgery performed at Methodist Hospital by Dr. Goldfarb. My care during and after surgery was first rate. The doctor had made every effort to answer all my questions prior to the procedure and encouraged me to get a second opinion before I decided to go ahead with the operation. Have had several simple procedures in Houston at small surgery centers. In comparison, there are several things that would make me not recommend this one. First, parking is very difficult. Also, everyone needs to be picked up so there are lots of people waiting... Yet no wireless and only a TV with medical ads. Finally the waiting area is small and thus crowded. After you sign multiple HIPPA forms where they say they're serious about patient privacy, when the doctor comes out for updates, every conversation is audible by everyone. While waiting for my husband, I heard people's kidney stone updates, identification of tumors, etc. It's so crowded everyone in the place can hear everything! This is not ok. Definitely would pick a different center. The staff was nice and procedure went fine, but that's not good enough. read more

The lack of honesty and integrity by the doctors of Houston Metro cost me my sex life. I dealt with 2 doctors at this organization and not one of them informed me that radiation would give me retro-ejaculation. Now, my sex life is ruined forever because of them, but they got their money. If you doubt my words, research reto-ejacutation and causes. You will see radiation is one of the causes. Again, no one told me of this, for I would have delayed treatment. Radiation should be the last resort. Look into this yourself. read more
